It started out great. All the info a person needed was supplied in game, and the concept was pretty simply to understand.
But now?
Now it's turned into another no-lifer/streamer puzzle. Another niobe labs. Another outbreak catalyst puzzle. Something I don't have the time to contribute to. So I'll just go back to playing the game as usual, and then when someone else figures it out, copy their answer.
Something I'm sure you intended to bring the community together is making some of us feel more distanced from the game.
Just my two cents though.
Edit: Didn't think this would blow up like it did. Thanks to those keeping it civil. I haven't read all the posts (and probably won't, sorry) but from what I have read I want to add some things to my previous statement.
I love this game. Check my play stats. I play way too much. I posted this in hopes someone at Bungie would see it because I feel like constructive criticism is how we all improve.
Alot of people have latched onto me mentioning streamers. I also mentioned no-lifers. I don't mean that in a negative way. I simply mean people who have even more time than I do to concentrate on solving this one puzzle. And the only reason I mentioned it is, for something that was supposed to bring the community together, they ironically (or idiotically) created something that only a small subset of people can really contribute too. Even on raid secrets, when people like me ask what they can do to help, the answer is submit your symbols to the spreadsheet and wait for someone to solve it for you. That's not very engaging. You think they would have learned from niobe labs.
I think we need more community things like the Mars campaign. Everyone's contribution counted, and it was something that everyone could engage in. Here, I could contribute my puzzle pieces, just to find out they are discarded as duplicates or blanks. So my effort for the cause didn't actually contribute anything. Again, not very engaging.
But, this is all just my two cents, for what it's worth. If you're enjoying it, great! Let's just keep the debates civil in the comments.

17 RepliesEdited by Spawn: 1/17/2020 12:09:17 AMI don't mind community challenges that Bungie releases every once in a while. They've done a few in Destiny now, even had an ARG on the forums before Destiny launched (anyone remember Alpha Lupi?). What's interesting now is that it's definitely not something that is done in one sitting, which people have been asking for. So, while I don't have any knowledge of this puzzle and/or how to solve it, I don't mind sitting on the sidelines and watch it unfold.

1 ReplyIt's easy to contribute, even if it's not a lot. If you do the emblem code, there's symbols on the floor like the other codes, but this code changes hourly and depending on what character your on. Take a screenshot of the floor symbols and upload them to, say, the raidsecrets discord for example

1 ReplyYou don't play it that much just checked stats, u don't even have a pinical

25 RepliesEdited by GalaxySpider: 1/17/2020 8:21:27 AMThen stop playing an MMO, how about that? This clearly is NOT an offline game or even a single player game. I don't know why people expect the devs to make THEIR game to someone's individual taste for a game. A community puzzle is the best thing you can do for an mmo styled game if done correctly. You can help just as anyone else. But everytime I see someone moaning about I see the same two problems everytime: - such people obviously never adopted to the changes in some aspects for this way of making a game - such people play a wrong game in the first place yet they decide to stick to it I play videogames since the very early 90s, before the nternet was even a common mainstream thing. And games on Atari, Nintendo etc had cryptic stuff as well, you couldn't figure out until you got the latest issue of your favourite gaming magazine. So I adopted to these days norm otherwise I could have stopped with my hobby a long time ago. So what is the problem, browsing the internet and may contribute to the solution? Answer: people became lazy over the years and want everything handed to them. A typical "casual" reaction to such things. It's not like Destiny 2 completely was made out of puzzles.

20 Replies"Bringing the community together" is great and all but any puzzle that requires information that exists outside the game is a failure of design. I enjoy solving puzzles myself. I don't enjoy having to look up solutions because the answer is inpenentrably complex.

I just want to look back on niobe labs and be reminded how it ended. And why they hadnt done a puzzle like that since..... Till now where apparently they didnt learn their mistake.

I’m on the fence with this topic. I love the community event aspect of this and everyone CAN contribute to the end goal. I also recognize that this design will always lead to a group of people consolidating the info because it is a necessity to filter through the garbage. It sucks that people feel left out in this process though or that others feel like they are being blocked by particular group(s). I don’t blame the groups, just the design of the puzzle. Unfortunate consequence...

The mods at Raidsecrets Discord are actually gatekeeping a lot of data from the rest of the community while stealing the community data themselves. My clan asked for their spreadsheet and in return they asked for ours. After my clan gave it to one particular mod there, the guy just said that he's too busy to hand over their data and stopped replying. I'm pretty sure streamers are in on this gatekeeping thing going on there.

2 RepliesEdited by Demon_XXVII: 1/17/2020 1:38:21 AMHere’s the ENTIRE (well so far) list 19 so far Fairly easy - run through the doors (with the correct symbol) in the order of each lore section, numbered 1-19 below ⬇️ & then there’s the last ‘route’ for the emblem (try this one first) - My Emblem went to Postmaster, so check there👍 Then look into the mirror pool, press the ‘relevant’ button.....the pool gives off a clue to the next route) If you mess up the route - you can reset at the column (like a black stone thingy) You can check the Lore progress by looking at Triumphs>Lore>Light>The Pigeon and the Phoenix .....of which there are 19 lore segments Route/Symbols to follow •1 Plus, Snake, Flower, Hexagonal, Snake, Plus, Diamond (diamond shape with a flower carved on) •2 Flower, Flower, Hex, Hex, Plus, Diamond, Snake •3 Plus, Flower, Diamond, Diamond, Snake, Diamond, Diamond •4 Diamond, Flower, Plus, Hex, Flower, Hex, Flower •5 Diamond, Plus, Snake, Hex, Hex, Diamond, Plus •6 Diamond, Hex, Snake, Hex, Flower, Flower, Plus •7 Diamond, Plus, Flower, Hex, Snake, Hex, Snake •8 Flower, Plus, Flower, Hex, Flower, Diamond, Snake •9 Flower, Flower, Flower, Snake, Diamond, Hex, Diamond •10 Plus, Hex, Flower, Hex, Plus, Diamond, Hex •11 Snake, Hex, Snake, Hex, Diamond, Hex, Snake •12 Hex, Snake, Plus, Hex, Snake, Hex, Plus •13 Flower, Plus, Flower, Diamond, Snake, Snake, Hex •14 Hex, Diamond, Snake, Plus, Hex, Plus, Plus •15 Flower, Hex, Plus, Diamond, Plus, Snake, Diamond •16 Snake, Hex, Hex, Hex, Plus, Diamond, Diamond •17 Flower, Diamond, Hex, Flower, Plus, Diamond, Plus •18 Diamond, Plus, Plus, Flower, Snake, Plus, Diamond •19 Hex, Plus, Plus, Diamond, Hex, Snake, Snake •Emblem (it’s a longer route) Diamond, Flower, Snake, Plus, Hex, Hex, Plus, Hex, Diamond, Flower, Snake

The streamers are doing nothing that normal players cant do. The only thing we got this week is the 19 codes. The rest comes next week.

17 RepliesJust go away and play another game you absolute casual. This is why good, difficult and time intensive destiny has been watered down to bounty farming and a shell of the game we loved from D1. Its an MMO. MMOs require time investment and you filthy casual kind is turning this game into something even more diluted that what it is now. You're the reason Devils Ruin was a two minute long time investment. Did you get that gun? Good for you. Just go play something else.

5 RepliesIt’s a community puzzle, is it not? Why complain about the community working on it?
-
6 RepliesDo you guys have to throw the same tantrum every time there's an ARG?
-
Idk if I’d even call it a quest anymore, it feels more like PR event loosely connected to the world of destiny. It generates news about the game, which is not a bad thing, but it’s not exactly very engaging gameplay for the regular Destiny player. It is what it is. I don’t think it’s necessarily bad for it to exist and for what it’s worth I do like the art style of the monochromatic corridors of time. Hopefully the result, be it item or mission, will be fun at least.

3 RepliesIt gets dumb when you have to use a google doc and spreadsheets being added to by 100s of people. Yes in game quests should challenging, but the challenge shouldn’t be excel management which is completely outside the game and boring.
-
To be honest they are doing a wonderful job and seeing how the community are pulling together putting aside there diferances is wonderful and when the code is cracked you wont be complaining when you get to collect the reward for yourself and no one is forcing anyone to watch there streams. We should all be thankful there are players out there solving it.
-
8 RepliesHow boring. To have to watch (or not watch) streamers solve a puzzle again, to possibly open up content for the majority of people that have real jobs, have commitments, that don't have the luxury to be able to play a game all day long as a so-called profession is soooo boring. This is what I paid my hard-earned dollars for. This isn't a Broadway production that I buy tickets to. This isn't a concert that I buy tickets for. This is a game that I paid for and that I would like to play. After 5 years of playing Destiny and now seeing the direction that it is going, it maked me wonder just how many people in the future ( like even next season) are going to pay to play this game. To have to wait for someone that has all the time in the world to solve a puzzle for the large majority of people playing this game to be able to progress in this game is ridiculous again.
-
1 ReplyBut you can participate.. People are sending in screenshots of the symbols that appear when they press reveal .. They have it all over twitter where to send them..
-
"people with more free time than me are no lifers" You couldn't have possibly worded that any worse lol Everyone's life is different from work schedules to the schedules or the friends and family. Health issues and many other things can impact someone's free time.
-
I like these, honestly. I liked that after Last Wish raid world first it unlocked more content/ progress. I don’t really participate in the puzzles accept to take advantage of the hard work of others. Like using the Wishes. But I like knowing there is a group out hard at work solving some mysteries in the game. Just like in lore there are guardians that do certain things others don’t. Some that specialize or are experts in areas other Guardians are not. Same it feels for these puzzles. I don’t know, it just doesn’t bother me and for me makes the game and world feel bigger than it is.

18 RepliesIf I need a spreadsheet to play a video game, something is surely wrong. I’m a simple man, plus, I stare at/create spreadsheets every day at work.
-
2 RepliesA “community event” is one that everyone can do together. Best example would be events done on warframe. Everyone contributes to a goal, once goal is met the next part opens up. Here you have players streaming it asking for help in solving it. That sounds more like a streaming event then anything. Honestly so much emphasis is put into twitch and the like that it’s kind of sad. People are at the point they would rather watch than play said game. 🤷🏻♂️
-
Additionally, right now, streamers (who've had the help of everyone else) are complaining and keeping the puzzle piece link to themselves so others can't -blam!- it up (supposedly trolls). Plus, some are complaining that others took what was there and started working on it solo. THIS. IS. NOT. HOW. YOU. DO. A. COMMUNITY. EVENT.
-
This type of content or event is exactly why it feels Destiny is coming to an end. It has had zero fun/exciting factor for quite sometime

3 RepliesEdited by Sarah Rose: 1/17/2020 8:19:15 AMThis is always the case. The content creators make big money off of this, even if it means sacrificing their own health. And something about that picture is just very wrong. Why do we need special tailored quests for an elitist minority of the community, when we could have a fun, engaging and rewarding game to play? They'd make their money either way. The difference is, the first option alienates most of the community, while the second makes a more pleasureable experience for everyone involved.
