(This was the pathfinder system if anyone was interested)
After three long years and doing a session every Saturday (most of the time) my group had finally made it to the final boss.
Our GM has explained to us what the boss looked like (it’s final transformation) a grueling Behemoth with eyes all over his body always fixated on one thing with mouths that seem like they lead to another realm. Its skin constantly moving and deforming and reforming. (The skin moving gave this thing a ridiculous AC for Physical attacks btw)
So basically a long battle of this bullet sponge with our Dragonborn Cleric spamming healing spells because the bosses damage was ludicrous. Heck he was even knocking our Orc Paladin (interesting combination btw) around like a RAGDOLL. It was intense and I’m sure the boss could one shot the most of us if it rolled high enough for damage which thank god it wasn’t basically leaving us at low but not dead percentages. Our Druid and Paladin however eventually died and got merked in their saving throws so it was now up to Me, Our Cleric, Summoner Unchained, and Rouge Barbarian (he was new so we kind jus gave him an easy character).
Then our GM alerted us after I rolled like a 32 for Perception of the boss that he was preparing a wipe mechanic and if we didn’t kill the boss soon enough we would fail. Now my character is a half orc fighter that’s meant to be kinda like a brute force damage dealer who uses his bare fist. Now at some point of time after throwing myself at enemies my GM allowed me to get a home brew skill basically that I could convert all my health into a single punch resulting in me being at like 1 HP.
Essentially this was a very strong move that if not used correctly would result in my characters death which I used maybe twice throughout the sessions we had. So I ask the cleric if they can heal me next turn. Our GM has alerted us that we can see something appear in the sky and that our number of turns is going down. The cleric rolls to heal and gets A NAT 20 so I’m fully restored and now it’s my turn.
My GM asks me what will my PC do? And I tell him I use Heaven Over fist. (Name of the move) He reminds me that I need to roll very high to hit this guy with a physical attacks and that if I miss I’ll still take the damage that I put in. I agree and roll. Another NAT 20 to hit however for those who don’t know how NAT 20 work for hitting is you basically double your damage. This has never happened for this attack and I ask my GM what can I do with this now ungodly roll?
He informs me that I can do double the damage but tells me that my health will go into the negatives. Now in pathfinder if you take damage and dip into the negatives pass your base health, ex: I have 20 health and take damage which makes me go down to -20 or lower I instantly die and no saving throws can be made.
Knowing this is the end of the campaign I agree and go fo the attack. My GM asked if he could describe my attack and I allowed in which he said the coolest shit ever.
“You watch as your fighter launches himself at Delium and you notice his right arm extends and glows in a red veiny way to hit Delium. Taruks delivers a powerful blow that shakes not only Delium but the entire Arena, however Delium smirks from his many mouths as the object in the sky opens up revealing a portal the covers as far the eye can see. Pure darkness seeps through it and shadows staining the Earth fall from it, but when it seems to be all lost Taruk reels his left hand yelling to deliver a second punch. In a flash a violent gust fills the arena and the roof IS LITERALLY BLOWN OFF from these mighty punches and when the dust clears you see Taruk standing armless and in front of him the wall of the tower blown away completely along with Delium”.
My GM explained that from the tremendous pressure of my punches both my arms basically exploded and my PC had died standing up, but I effectively killed Delium and stopped the portal from covering the world in darkness. A city was made in my name and statues were put in honor of our PCs.
I was sad to see my PC die ngl but in such a way was truly the coolest way things could’ve gone.

6 RepliesMy father is my dm and always testing me and giving me analytical chalenges. Well my first time everyone picks me to lead he says "You walk up to the town notice board by the well and read the signs. One is to hunt a group of goblins two is to find a lost dog and three is just a name witch I don't remember. Me analyzing the situation choose the only thing that was strait forward the goblins we Finnish in about two hours and get our loot and then he tells me I let him down I ask him why and he tells me I should've picked the dog because it was actually a dire wolf that belongs to a wizard in the village and it would have taken months and gotten us magic items and pretty easy enemies needless to say I haven't played again since
