Can we at least have a discussion with the community?

As the title states, I think that what is needed is a stream where we, the community, asks bungie questions, and they give us actual responses. As it is right now, the game is in a poor state, with the community wanting the game to go one way, and with bungie having it go another. So many things are put on this roadmap that we think will be good, and its not. Its over hyped content that reminds me of 2016 minecraft youtubers, where you get this crazy intro and then a bunch of boring content So, what I ask is that bungie hosts a stream. A long one. Maybe even multiple. All they need to do is go over actual questions we have and give an answer to them. This way we at least know that people outside the community managers (who are great btw) actual look at what we would like to see, as well as giving us their reason for making the content what it is. Its a direct way to have a conversation, and it's also not the whole "we listen to the community" when its just stuff streamers say, which then ends up with nerfs to things to make the game harder for the rest of the player base. Now, this isnt some "oh, i hate bungo" bandwagon type post. Ive been playing since d1 launched. Ive bought all the dlc's. Im not going anywhere because I enjoy the game. But what I dont enjoy is seeing a game with so much potential get destroyed due to some poor decisions being made higher up. Im invested in this game, and I honestly do plan to continue to support it, but it will be supporting it in play time rather than purchasing sub par content that wont see any use after the season ends.

  • Oh, I've been playin' since D1's beta too. But here's the thing... you're tellin' me the ENTIRE community wants the game to go in one direction? Well, that can't be true. Why do ya think the game's an unholy poorly-designed fusion of PvE and PvP with the flimsiest design foundation ever conceived? The game attempts to rake in as many FPS players as humanly possible from as many different FPS audiences, which is why this community will never be happy together. The community's been cut and sliced up from the start! That's why everyone who plays the game, whether conscious of it or not, wants the game to only be about the parts of it only they enjoy. Now they wouldn't be having this stupid problem if Bungo had made the whole game for a single audience, like every good game does, BUT what can they do? I'll tell ya what they CAN'T do: What you're suggesting! You think they gotta host a stream for the WHOLE community? I say they pick one audience and host a stream for whichever one they decide on pleasing from there on! But let's be honest here. That would require Bungo to stick their heads outta their asses and re-learn what good game design is, which is not gonna happen. So y'know what? Yeah, let them host the stream you're suggesting! Maybe it'll bite 'em in the ass by making some players realize this franchise has never and will never be good!

  • Which community the small minority that frequents this forum. Or the actual majority of the community that plays the game and doesn't complain or dislike everything they come in contact with. Because this forum and reddit seem to play two completely different games.

Warframe devs and community managers have a Livestream on twitch weekly, they've been doin this for years, and they actually invite people from the streams to come play with them, and they're actually not terrible at their own game. AND they do multiple giveaways in each stream for thousands of platinum (warframes version of silver). I think digital extremes should've won that community support award.

      • Mate I think you have to accept that is NEVER going to happen. Bungie speak whenever they have something to sell. A ten minute scan of this very forum shows you what people see as issues in the game yet the "award winning" community team are still doing the "We'll pass this on" fob off as a reply. Just accept that they are going to design the game they want, what we want is irrelevant. Example .. How many times have we asked for Bounties to be picked up from one place .. Has it happened ?? .. No. But we have a Store Tab now. They soon made sure we are able to buy their overpriced Eververse tat at anytime. Then there is the "bug" that permanently highlights Tess. They even moved Eva from her last location for the Dawing to right above Tess. And most times you hear Tess's wibbling's before you load in to the Tower. This is their focus, not what we want. Its been over five years since Destiny 1 launched. They don't listen. They wont listen. I admire your optimism but I have mostly moved on to other games and when Cyberpunk launches this game will be forgotten by me like it has by many others.

        • No, mainly because this community is just as confused as Bungie. What I want is the game's end game to be far more challenging and investemnt in stats to be meaningful and required to do the end game. Lots of people want the game to go more casual friendly like Warframe, some want it to be more MMO focused like WoW. You see the issue? We haven't made a concensus on what we want. One decision may have more players leave the game than those willing to stay with the changes. I for one will drop this game if they decide to make it even more casual friendly than it already is when its infamous for being the most casual of all the looter shooter genre's in gaming.

          • I've been saying this for ages, but I'd genuinely love to get some actual reasons behind some of the decisions they've made. An honest interview with various team heads answering real questions about the games development would benefit them a lot.

It won't change. Don't waste your breath. The game will ALWAYS go in the direction of maximum profit. Your thoughts, feelings and opinions are irrelevant. The only real way to show your disapproval is with your wallet.

                      • Legit I almost choked on my own spit laughing as I read this. I would love this just as much as the next player but there is no way it would happen. The company wouldn't give a straight answer even if their lives depended on it. I mean if the way the community managers answer the few select questions they do response to, doesn't prove that they are going to weave and dodge nearly everything due to how giving a real answer to real question would incriminate them, I don't know what does.

                          • I don't know what the hell the "community managers" do with 90% of their time. Seriously... They do a few tweets a week. They make a few short, generic replies on forums. They write the TWAB. That's about it for a typical week as far as we see. Maybe ONE day of solid "work?" I don't know why there isn't a live chat for an hour every day/week. Or a daily blog post. Something, anything more than what we have now... which is basically nothing.

                            • I agree with you, they should at least take a listen and damper what they are hearing at their development conventions where they give them all these great ideas about monetization. I played Neverwinter for a few years until last year when they completed gutted the game. Their motivation was to make it easier for new players (as a new player, never thought it was hard) by taking away customization which, in turn, also makes coding easier (less variables to deal with new content). They then intro scaling and man it sucked. I have not played since and I question their game health.

                            • The forums don't represent the entire community, only a small fraction. That small group is extremely vocal, but sometimes the loudest voices aren't the ones you want to listen to. They probably have enough data to support the changes they are bringing to the game are positive with the entire playerbase. If it pisses off 1% or even 5%, I'm sure that's a number they are fine with.

Be mindful that the talking points that are expressed are a small portion of the community. I'd guess to say sub 10% of the community. We had about 10 threads with about 600 upvotes (estimation) making it about 6k people. Versus 200000 people brings it to sub 10% of the player base. This disgruntled crowd seems to be the majority because they scream the loudest. The lionshare 80% respond well to the formula. Top 10 are hardcore's who also feel misrepresented. Funny thing is? The 20 percent create such demand for the game. regardless of concerns, it makes the game worth investing in. In a way, bad press is still good press. Who knew?

                              • No. Because. 1. The game---other than the network issues on PSN---is NOT in a poor state. Its just in a condition that that a vocal minority of the community doesn't LIKE. 2. That minority does not speak for the whole community. Bungie isn't stupid. The reason why we keep getting content like this, is because the majority of the player base responds well to it. 3. Part of the reason why this game has had the troubled history that it has, is because for four years Bungie lurched from one extreme to another trying to satisfy whichever angry minority complained the loudest. 4. Bungie is---for the first time---clearly BRANDING this game. IOW, designing the game in a way that a player knows exactly what kind of experience to expect when they fire up the game from one season to the next. When every a product brands itself like this, there are going to be people who don't like the changes. But that is unavoidable. A game that is made for everyone is a game that is actually made for no one. So there is going to be a sorting of the player base....and some people are going to dislike teh changes enough that they will leave the game. But this NEEDS to happen...for the long term health of the game....and it needed to happen three years ago. So it is LONG over due.

The closest viable option is forums and reddit, which bungie does look at regularly, but Just looking at the trending page 80% if it is "this game sucks" or "destiny 1 was better."
