Long time lurker here.
I love PvP. The way I've always tried to play Destiny is to grind for great guns and use them against Guardians in the Crucible. I don’t Raid and I don’t do a lot of the Nightfall: Ordeals. If possible, I like to no life it in the Crucible. The sandbox and matchmaking issues are whatever to me. Sandbox wise, I'll adapt to whatever. The Matchmaking is all over the board but I don't run across many of the issues some people have. It comes down to this for me .. at the end of the day, I just want to play and be rewarded for my time spent.
My biggest issue is with the Crucible is the loot. I am happy seeing the community really starting to voice their opinion about it.
IMO, there are a handful of non game breaking things that Bungie could do that would help bridge the gap between now and whenever Trials or an end game activity is finally released:
1) Release a vendor refresh for Shaxx. Its time. If this is definitely not possible then how about this:
A) Bring forward the remaining Year 1 weapons (sans Leviathan, Faction, & Trials of Nine) that haven't been brought forward as random rolls and stick them in the Crucible loot pool. I would grind and grind and grind for a chance at an Old Fashioned (w/ random rolls), etc. I want that same feeling I had in D1 when a Eyasluna or Matador dropped post match.
B) Allow past Crucible ornaments to be universal - There are some really nice Crucible ornaments that I would love to use but I can't because the stat rolls on Crucible armor drops are so poor. At the very least allow Iron Banner armor to have the ability to equip the old Crucible ornaments.
2) Reward Valor resets with an Ascendant Shard and a PINNACLE armor piece. I think this is a very fair trade off.
A) Reward Prisms for moving from Heroic - Fabled - Mythic - Legend
B) Reward a 55-60 stat rolled gear for moving from Heroic-Fabled-Mythic-Legend
3) Reward Planetary Mats as post match drops based on what planet the Crucible map was played on.
A) Attach Planetary Mats to Crucible daily bounties.
B) Attach Cores or Prisms to Weekly Crucible bounties.
Again, none of this should break the game. If stuff like this was turned into reality, I could spend every second I play Destiny in the Crucible just like I did in Destiny 1 because I would be getting rewarded for my time. I feel like that is the biggest thing missing right now. What is the point of playing Crucible outside of obtaining ritual/pinnacle weapons and seals? There isn't any. I can get over bad sandboxes and some MM issues if I know I can get loot.
NOTE: I'm not including Iron Banner in this but I think Bungie needs to relax the post match drops. If I play 4-5 matches (~40-50 minutes) of IB and I don't get a single weapon or armor drop, there is a big problem.

Some great ideas. I am the same as you, I hardly play PvE and only have the upgrade materials given via the battle pass so I can’t MW any armour and it feels bad. Giving Shaxx a refresh would be a massive thing and I also don’t see how it would be too difficult to reintroduce year 1 weapons. Nice post.

Crucible is in desperate need for a loot pool refresh, on top of a material economy overhaul. I don't care about the opinions of those that want to act like crucible isn't a legitimate Avenue to level up properly. It's a part of the game, and we are a part of the community, and the rewards for our time investment should respect that.

Why do any of this , when they Can just string you along for the next season pass for hoping trials drops then finally reveal trials of whatever they call it this time , and say hey we listened were putting in trials , and guess what they will drop pinnacles so problem solved. This has been a common tactic bungee has used in the past to keep players playing this ok but flawed game

The first thing they need to fix in crucible is spawns. U should not get spawn trapped in a game making it almost impossible to come back. Then they need to fix their SBMM. In stead of averaging the K/D's, have teams of ppl roughly with the same K/D.

4 Replies-blam!- the PvE mains who want pvp removed. I hope they quit. Hybrid players and pvp mains deserve this game at this point. I have seen way too many elitist and toxic pve mains now. I hope they never get what they want. But for us- bump- I play and main both modes. I am good at both. Take my bump and take my gg.

They're too tired and stressed out after all the Eververse development.

1 ReplyGreat suggestions, but that sounds more rewarding than playing PvE. I think there should be pinnacle drops from Shaxx but not every reset of valour. Also you should get a chance at receiving prisims every time you move from rank to rank. Everything else I agree with. Playing nightfalls isn't guarenteed to drop mats it just makes the more common, I feel like there could be a system like that for PvP. Guardian = uncommon all the way to Legend, Legend = Common so your chances are always improving. I just don't want to see forums flooded with PvE players that feel like they're forced to play PvP because it drop more consistent rewards than PvE content.

1 ReplyEdited by Indigo: 12/8/2019 5:00:59 AMBasically everything needs to be more rewarding at this point. The loot pool is shallow as -blam!-. It needs some sort of rework, I'm not saying to go Borderlands level, because as good the game is, it suffers from a lot of shitrolls just because of the vast amount of gun parts and variations, but jesus, I'm sure I can count on my two hands how many viable weapon and roll combinations are in the game right now. Maybe some prefixes or suffixes, or something like that. An added laser sight here with a stat modifier, maybe a removed muzzle brake for more range but harsher recoil, Idunno, but just something, to add to the already shallow perk pool.

1 ReplyAs someone who really loves PVP i have to say i completely disagree with all of what is stated here. I do agree with pvp pinacle armor and weapons out performing pve items but i cannot agree with pvp random drops out performing pinnacle gear. I was firmly against the nerf of recluse and redrix broadsword. those items should out perform standard gear, and should out perform pve gear in pvp. that being said: pvp gear should not out perform endgame gear. until there is an end game pvp mode there should not be anything that out performs top tier end game raid gear. period. Top tier PVP gear (i.e. pinnacle gear like the broadsword) is hard to get. really hard! but it doesn't require me pulling together 5 other competent individuals and accomplishing something end game hard. it just requires that i am better than my peers at playing the game. I have the broadsword, recluse, and luna's howl. i'm confident that i'm better than my peers and those weapons should make me a god in PVP. however, it didnt require that i coordinate with anyone. it didnt require that i lead a group to victory. the raid gear does require that. and at the moment it requires that i not only lead a group to victory but that i pull that group form real life friends because this is the most anti social game in the history of MMOs. raid gear should be > pvp which should be > random exotic, which should be > Legendary gear which should be > blue which should be > green which should be > white... the fact is, there is no reason to have green, blue, and white gear in the game. all of it is legacy gear that is a waste of time and a waste of processing power. brand new heroes are logging in at 750 Power level and not having to play the story line at all. at this point all of the time and money every loyal player has spent is completely worthless. may as well have waited until today to start playing and just accepted your end game gear as a rite of passage and moved on. Bungie must have a millenial in charge of the game now. "I'm entitled to all of the things everyone else fought hard to achieve because i am here now! give it to me for free!

I like all of these ideas.

Edited by mac626: 12/8/2019 12:27:51 AMBasically just getting bored, it’s the same old grind just a different flavor. If you don’t have group to play with 950 then that’s it. By the way great post.

32 RepliesAll good things. Unfortunately I fear they will do none of them. Bungie has all but abandoned it's PVP fans. Almost non-existent new content. No balancing. I never understood this about Bungie, not a COD fanboy but ... . MW warfare has been out for about a month and they have made a minimum of 5 balancing and other updates. You know how long it would have taken Bungie to do this??? Months!!!! Maybe even a whole year. Please I would love someone to explain to me what Bungie's issue is?

3 RepliesI’d agree, but coming from PS4 to PC. There is a huge problem with cheating in PC. That wasn’t on console. -Aim bot is a huge issue. Since there is no transparency, and no real way to show cheaters it consistently is getting worse. -P2P servers and mods that ban people from the forums for naming cheaters pretty much invites and enables cheaters on Destiny. Bungie does nothing to show force on the issue. I’ve never even heard of an IP perms ban. Ever....

Nice post! I agree with all you said as I have thought the same things. That said, all mentioned should be implemented somehow on both sides (PVE & PVP). Again, really well thought out post. 👍🏼
-
Great post, well thought out. Have a like. 👍
-
I agree on the upgrade materials for ranks. Would be good.
-
I’m sorry but you just wasted your time writing this, They don’t care. It’s been years of complaints and they still don’t do anything about it.
-
Solid post. All very fair points.
-
Definite Bump on this one. Good post!
-
Vendors all need a refresh. But then they wouldn't have time to design stuff for Ever-worse.

Edited by ohmygoshduh: 12/6/2019 8:52:51 PMYou put a lot of thought into this. There are many good ideas here. Bungie needs to hire you for the Combat Team. Thumps up! It would help to have someone on the Team who actually plays as a Random in the Crucible (without any advantages). Yeah, I know. Someone will Nerf my weapons tonight.

1 ReplyThe should stop with any updates to. Pvp as that's a small side part of this main pve game. Stop ruining the fun part by having them focus on shitty pvp
-
Fantastic post. I mostly PvE, but PvP plenty as well. This would be great.
-
Excellent post. Thank you. I hope Bungie listens

Or just give us 3 of coins back

Very fair post. The reward system for pvp is so hyperbolic that for most normal players it isn't rewarding at all. It houses some of the best legendary weapons in the game (Recluse, Revoker, Mountaintop, Not Forgotten, etc.), but these are all challenging to get and can seem too grindy for an average player. But in terms of run-of-the-mill rewards, such as vendor packages, materials, gear, etc, you get almost nothing useful. Bungie needs to stop treating crucible like the ultimate final endgame mode, and see it for how it really is: as the other half to the Destiny experience that many ppl play almost exclusively. I think it's fair to say that pvp'ers should be able to rank up and get necessary gear/materials as easily as pve'ers can.
