Ford seems to be playing this one very close to the chest. I am seriously wondering if it is going to be worth a damn or if it will be a huge joke.
Mind you, I love the old Ford Bronco and its equivalents from the other companies. I just am not sure exactly how well this is going to turn our, because the Raptor was amazing, then they slapped that twin-turbo pos in it and raised the price $20k. Ford killed the Flex and said, "It wasn't selling." Which they also said about the Ranger, yet neither vehicle was actually advertised. So I have to admit, I really am not trusting Ford to know what they are doing atm.
What are you thoughts, fellow car nuts and random people with no license & maybe a car poster on their bedroom wall?

1 ReplyThe new Bronco - If it ends up looking like the original concept vehicle and has any Raptor inspired suspension, it should be a hit. However, I'm not that hopeful. From the spy photos I've seen, much of the original Bronco inspiration on the concept vehicle has been washed away for more modern appointments, and I think it will be just another bland SUV stealing an old loved nameplate. I am livid at what they're doing with the Mach E. Bastardizing the Mustang name to an SUV EV is just another money grab by misusing a legendary name to try to float something that should have been named the new Pinto. If it's anything like the current award winner of the "Unsafe At Any Speed" award - the Tesla, it will be equally as flammable to either it or the old Pinto.

8 RepliesI live here and I'll never understand our fascination with these SUV's. Sport Utility is an oxymoron imo. It's a -blam!- term. Marketing -blam!-ery.

3 RepliesEdited by HeadHunter: 11/14/2019 1:38:13 PMThe twin turbo 3.5 and 3.7(I think) are actually proven performers. It beats the v8 in every category except a deep exhaust growl. So you cant actually call it a pos because they are far from it. If you want to call fords older 6.4 diesel a pos please go ahead, I'll even join you. As for the bronco im guessing they will be just like the f150s and have different powerplant options to chose from.

1 ReplyI'm no truck guy so I could care less about the Bronco but I can see the appeal. I saw a girl in Vegas driving a modified old-school Bronco and it sounded and looked beast. I'm more worried about Ford making a 4-door Mustang if the rumors for that are true. Don't make a 4-door like the Charger.

1 ReplyWell, at least it's not a crossover suv when it wasn't one originally (why mitsubishi? Why would you do that to the eclipse?)

1 ReplyHave you seen the version Ford did up for Baja?

1 ReplyI'm not getting my hopes up for this one. Part of the appeal of the original was that it was a beast, on and off the road. Dings and scratches gave it more character and then there were ones where the roof comes off and it became a convertible beast....but they had the worst gas mileage. I think this new one will have waaay better mileage but it'll look like a fancy nostalgic suv that nobody will be willing to go further than a gravel driveway for off road and will flip the F out over the thought of a scratch on it.

2 RepliesIt's just a nostalgia vehicle, unfortunately I don't see it being all that impressive.

I’m not a Ford guy, so I couldn’t care less.

3 RepliesI would like less trucks in crowded parking lots. You aren’t hauling supplies to a build site. You’re going to Starbucks to buy overpriced coffee before going to class for your liberal arts degree. If you don’t need a large car, don’t inconvenience everyone else because you don’t know how to handle it.

3 RepliesI like the Raptor a lot. But I would rather have an old Bronco modified just enough to have a bit more power and to be extremely off-road capable. I’m not talking the stuff where it’s a cosmetic lift and snazzy paint job, I’m talking the stuff that makes it actually usable as an over lander that can handle various terrain. I’m currently working on my 05 Expedition XLT with the 5.4l 2WD/AWD/4hi/4low selectable transmission, modifying it to be capable of overlanding and handling rocks, dirt, mud, etc. It’s a decent platform to start with, but not my first choice since the Eddie Bauer version makes most people think of the expedition as a soccer mom/grocery getter, but a little suspension work, wheels/tires, a solar panel and backup power system, it’s going to be decent. For the budget, I’d much rather go this route than spend on something brand new like the new bronco, especially not knowing much about it. I kinda have this fear it’ll be mostly a cosmetic throwback as opposed to something actually capable.
