Destiny 2 servers not available?

Hi I’ve been trying to login to Destiny 2 on my PC but whenever I try it says “Destiny2 servers unavailable” for more information go to bungee.help.net Has anyone else encountered this issue? I’m a returning player and I haven’t played for several months is there something that I need to purchase now in order to login and play this game?
