So I've been banging my head against a wall for months now. I've upgraded and built a whole new pc with a 2080ti, and yet I can't force the game to give me better FPS with a 2080ti than I get with a 980ti.
I've had my computer tech buddies scratch their heads over this issue as well. Today my friend came over and tweaked around with all my settings and brought my Unigen Heaven scores up to where they should be, in the top percentile for the tests he was running. (it was drastically under performing when we first started the day) Unfortunately no matter what he did, he couldn't force D2 to use more of my GPU.
Currently D2 doesn't come anywhere close to using my full GPU or even a single thread or core on my CPU. So I'm not bottle necked anywhere.
HWiNFO64 tells me that my GPU Core load sits around 65-75% when playing in the crucible at 1080p max graphics, 105 FOV. My FPS jumps between 85-120 fps, sitting at an average of about 105 fps. The only thing that I can do to force my GPU Core load to increase, or to hit 99% is if I up the render resolution. At 149% Render res, 1080p maxed, it jumps from a core load of 65-75% to 93-96%.
Now again, running tests in trostland on the EDZ, my average FPS is between 80-120. That number stays the same at 1080p lowest graphics, all the way to 1440p at max graphics. FPS doesn't change, just the percentage of my graphics card, that the game asks for... this makes no sense...
Why wouldn't the game ask for more juice and give me higher frames? It makes no sense how I get the exact same FPS at max graphics 1440p 105 FOV, and 1080p lowest graphics 105 FOV. The only thing that increases my fps at all, is lowering my FOV all the way (for maybe an increase of 10 fps)...it's f*cked. Now I can force D2 to use more of my GPU by upping the render resolution, at 1440p Max graphics, and 200% render resolution, that's the only time I see a big dip in my FPS (down to about 60-70 fps) and my GPU finally being used to 100%. But screwing with the render resolution doesn't increase my FPS at all, so wtf?
Is there anyway to force D2 to use more of my GPU or CPU to increase FPS? I know so many people have FPS issues, but I also see streamers and youtubers with a steady FPS in PVP or PVE of 160-200 FPS... lots of them using much weaker systems than mine, like a GTX 1080, or 2080.
