All that really needs to happen here is snipers, grenade launchers, and fusion rifles put back where they belong...as power weapons...that was a dumb move in the first place and served to do nothing but make almost every weapon in the game useless...your combos are either grenade launcher/hand cannon, sniper rifle/hand cannon, or fusion rifle/hand cannon. You only really have the hand cannon for the off chance you run out of ammo or to finish a player that rarely survives the first shot.
Then you added the bow, which was awesome, high skill cap, have to put forth an effort to be good with it because it has such a low rate of fire vice every other weapon....and your critical damage on most bows (Headshots) dont kill 9 times out of 10. So in pvp...there is no trade off...its just high skill cap, you work hard to get good with it and don't even get the reward that the grenade launcher, fusion rifle, and snipers get for basically point and shoot skill caps...
Also, why do supers last so long these days?? It is insane that most people just farm their super and then are able to run through their opposing team 2 maybe 3 times before running out...in a game of 4v4 I watched a dude get 10 super kills...he crossed the map TWICE after starting his super...supers are meant to be brief moments of extra power...it made you think about when you used it, where, timing was important...now you can pop it in a 1v1 and then jog across the map and get the other 3 and jog some more and hit their spawn with all 4 there...you know...since you just killed them...its insane...crucible took some strategy back in the day, you needed to time your rushes for power ammo to gain an edge (and only one player would get that edge), you had to spread out your supers to make them last because 1) no guaruntee of getting a kill with it 2) if you used too many in a single round you went into future rounds with a disadvantage. your super economy was important to how the game played out, now its "-blam!- thats a super, everyone spread out and hope he runs out before killing us all" you basically become invincible and it lasts for way too long. Ive seen matches where the rest of the team could just sit in spawn and chill while one guy with a super ran the other team down all 6 of their opponent's lives, why is that a thing?
So I guess two things rather than just the one, super duration, and getting rid of this BS meta where everyone picks power weapons that are all one hit kills. The lack of variety coupled with the fact if you arent using meta you are basically cannon fodder is killing pvp. At that point why have 3 dozen weapon options when 3 hand cannons, 1 sniper, 2 grenade launchers, and 2 fusion rifles are roughly 90% of the kits you see. As an example, when mercy was being selected in EVERY competitive match, she was immediately nerfed. GOATS was just dethroned because people got tired of only being able to counter with GOATS, so instead of playing a variety of comps at higher level you are stuck with playing 6 out of 32 characters. the 2-2-2 change is bringing back a lot of players because you can now play all 32 characters. Same idea here, put power weapons back, it opens the door for people to be successful with weapons like the bow, which is the best addon ive seen in destiny imo, or scout rifles which i hardly ever see anymore, pulse rifles, smgs, auto rifles...think other than myself I get 1 in 10 games where I will even see an auto rifle. VARIETY, it isnt hard to do, especially since there is no power balancing that is needed, you just need to put all your one shot kill weapons back in the power ammo slot...think i forgot to mention shotguns this whole time...the only drawback to those that kinda makes them ok as secondaries is the fact you have to be in their face to even get a kill...but most of these maps make that unbelievably easy to accomplish.
Super time duration significantly reduced and power weapons back in the power weapon slots and watch pvp just take off.
