I was really excited at the prospect of having an artifact that granted perks. It seemed like a really cool idea, and it appeared at first like there were perk “paths” similar to skill trees in D1.
When I found out that it’s just a UI screen used to unlock mods I was really disappointed. I was even more disappointed to learn that these mods have to be slotted into mod slots on armor/weapons, and they will use a significant amount of “energy” which will really restrict the way we build our characters.
Essentially, instead of getting more powerful we’ll be forced to choose between cool/novelty perks or practical perks and extra stat points.
Also, I already know that my current armor is stronger than armor 2.0. I’ve seen the cost of enhanced perks and there’s no way I can replicate my builds or even come close. Why would I switch to an inferior armor set?
I understand I haven’t even played with this system yet. It might be fine. I’m just sharing feedback that it’s not as exciting as it first appeared.

3 RepliesIt's like you completely forgot about intellect, discipline, strength. Armor 2.0 is going to bring those back, meaning you can spec into having a grenade build with just the armor base stats alone. All armor is going to drop as 2.0 and you get to put whatever mods you want plus the added benefits of getting extra cool downs to grenade, super, melee naturally on armor stats without having to use a mod slot like now, the only way to get extra cool downs is by using things like a paragon mod, Also transmog. Basically you get to look how you want and build your character exactly how you want, and you're still disappointed.

I’ve made two rambling posts about them still throttling your gameplay....... you all will be disappointed with armor 2.0 I’m not buying shadowkeep even though I love the moon.

11 RepliesHeres mine: its sucks. Hasnt been thoroughly thought out, play tested or stress teated in the sand box. Finishing moves are beyond stupid, time gated content in the form of rotating bosses and unique drops is not what anyone wants, the power level grind and bonus seems absolutely absurd and too me sounds like wasting development times, nerfing power as an excuse to lazy development tells me all i need to know about SK and the season pass and finally thanks for all the key fragments another well thought out mechanic that wastes peoples inventory space and is fundamentally worthless as a reward. Dont pre order dont buy day one. Let gladd and datto get through the raid first. Thats all that matters to bungie anyway.

1 ReplyIs everyone getting Armor 2.0, or just those people who purchase Shadowkeep?

12 RepliesEdited by Corrick II: 8/22/2019 4:52:50 PMI'm looking forward to finding out that Armor 2.0 is just a more complicated system to increase grind. Honestly all I wanted out of it was the ability to change the armor's appearance, everything else is looking complicated just for the sake of being complicated. Grinding for micro increases in six stat bars? More grind for mods and then grinding for resources to unlock mods, all while grinding for armor to put the mods in? They're just taking the grind we have now and multiplying it so we keep playing. Someone thought this would be a good idea, and I'd love to hear their explanation of why this is "better" for us beyond keeping us chained to the hamster wheel. The Director’s Cut and Shadowkeep videos haven’t really done that for me. I guess we’ll see come October.

6 RepliesI just hope that the Eye of the Gate Lord isn't the only artifact for Shadowkeep. Also I kinda wish that the artifacts were hanging off our belts like a keychain, adds some detail on how we look.
-
3 RepliesBut its almost like you're getting more powerful by being able to slot in all of the best enhanced perks across all your armors. Oh wait, you are, and will. I dont think having to make a small trade off like having to choose novelty over functionality makes the update bad. That seems like a pretty good trade to me, especially since you can have both very easily. Easier than ever, actually.

It’s basically a method of creating ‘content’ where there is none. The artefact will allow you to gain customisation if rng is in your favour in gaining the mods you desire...but it will be one hell of a bungie grind. Will you be able to spec your characters with the same lucky rng armor enhancement perks you have now? Probably not as the point system will not allow for too many. Will the new system be better? For some players ‘choice’ is everything but other players want ‘power’ which sadly will be diminished. ‘Content’ is not taking away items then repackaging them but that’s Bungie’s idea of content.

Edited by Tru-Zrue: 8/23/2019 9:13:15 PMThanks for breaking down the artifact for me. I honestly didn't have a full understanding of how it would work. Now.... Wow I don't like it. Not to mention those mods will go away at the end of the season... Just wow.

2 RepliesThis is like a restaurant review from someone who never ate there. Don't be that guy.

It feels like Bungie are over complicating armour and mods, IMO. I also wonder how much worse loading inventory screens and general load times will be.
-
3 RepliesThere were no numbers mentioned in how the mods increased stats, and they did say they’d be borderline exotic, so we’ll have to see how it plays out

22 RepliesFunny thing is, back when Shadowkeep was first announced I knew for a fact that they would do something to "balance" the mods, even said they were probably going to do something to limit it and some way. Was met with people calling me an overly critical idiot that didn't know what he was talking about and people saying it was Activision causing all the limiting non-sense with power and that the three slots of mods, customization, and relics were going to make Destiny great again and bring a huge wellspring of customization and builds. Lo' and Behold, we're now two months from release and they reveal that the new armor system is going to have a lot of limitations and rules (probably why they waited this long after anyone that was going to pre-order the DLC had done so). Even the most trivial of mods are going to cost nearly all your points to use ,so it's either use really weak perks and get more variety or use strong perks and do without. Relics just unlock mods and you will have to unlock them again the next season ((once again, Bungie going back on their words about not having to grind for the same things over and over again)). The finishers consuming half your super meter is just the shit flavored whipped cream on this cow-pie though. This could have been a really cool new feature added to the game that gave it a sense of being more action based and dynamic, but, as with Bungie's fashion, they decide to put a limiter on it for no reason. If you want a game that actually rewards you for time played, and gives you a sense of power and progression from that, Destiny is not the game you want to play.

Edited by NerfPaladins06: 8/23/2019 5:02:24 PMI don't like the artifact having power/light as the max bonus will be a requirement for joining endgame pve on LFG. They need to find other fun features to put on it instead.
-
I understand where your coming from but you can’t really judge it until it comes out and you have been able to test it out.
-
It wouldn't surprise me if armour 2.0 was a downgrade on the current armour system. Time will tell....
-
Edited by Wheelaa1: 8/23/2019 2:22:04 PMLike everything in D2, at best it will be half-arsed and riddled with issues. I hope I'm proved wrong in a couple of months time, but I feel confident I won't be.
-
The armor sets sound inferior until you look at the fact we'll need the int dis and str plus in time we can recreate similar sets and if we can't fully recreate things I'm still keeping several of my best sets in the vault
-
2 RepliesSomething you may not know, Bungie is actually adjusting Ability/Super cooldowns. At 0 Intellect, Discipline, and Strength you Super cooldown will be 7 minutes, and your Grenade and Melee cooldown will be 1minute and 30 seconds. So no, your current armor probably won't be as good.
-
Sadly disappointed to find out it was another case of hype, with unexciting reality to follow. Par for the course. The expansion will still be fun, and probably have some great moments, but the game doesn’t seem to actually improve.
-
5 RepliesAnd the fact each season will have it's own artifact,so you basically have to grind to level each one as the past artifacts goes away.So one could reach a power level of 1000 but then the next season starts and you go back to 960,sounds like fun huh.

Edited by UncleObscene: 8/23/2019 7:05:03 AMMy question is why do we need all these armor tweaks, mods and perfect builds to repeat year to years old content that doesnt get tweaked to needing it ? What does this system do to improve your PVE experience ? Is their anything that you cant or havent done without the loadout you own already ? You don't need to be optimal outside of raid content, if even then, since they are all mechanical and communication heavy, no new mods will make them easier to accomplish. I can see the armor/mods more effective in competitive Crucible. As mod combos can give some advantages that were harder to garner due to RNG prior to 2.0. Thing is ......the design will give a boost to the avg/casual player, dont forget the above avg player can implement them also. So does/will 2.0 have really any impact on the gameplay other than the chase for the mods ?
-
I was excited too but then it turned out that it's the same exact armor, with a couple of different perks but you can slot your desired build. Which I have already. Just changing the grind from finding the desired armor to unlocking the desired perk. Plus finishers are cool but what's the point of them ? Oh eververse yeah.
-
24 RepliesWell anyone around here with even a little intelligence knows the last thing Smith wants is for the guardians to be more powerful. But I’m completely sure the grind is about to double.

3 RepliesEdited by PAPASITO 30: 8/23/2019 12:38:19 AMI agree with this. Armor 2.0 allows more customization but you still have to grind out the mods for it first. Your builds might be fine, but I am sure eventually you will switch out your sets for 2.0 eventually. Being able to switch multiple builds without having to carry 9 armor sets is nice. It results in a cleaner experience, but overall I see your point.
