Losing all of my armor again kind of makes me want to stop playing this game again.

This isn’t a shit post. It’s just a... sad realization post. I finally got the hunter legs from CoS this week, but it means nothing. I’ll only get to use them for a few more weeks before they’re left behind and I delete them. Last time it happened with EP armor and Solstice armor. When Curse of Osiris came out I quit this game for months, but I came back with Forsaken. I’ve taken breaks and whatnot, but I’ve generally enjoyed this game ever since. But, I just have that feeling again... why keep playing this game when loot just doesn’t matter and my time gets crapped on? I think the changes being made to armor are good for the game, but I think Bungie should have done more to make sure our vault wasn’t wiped out again. They should have made all year 2 armor available as ornaments. Even the cabal only destroyed our vaults once, Bungie. This is your second time in 2 years. Edit: thanks for all the bumps. It would be cool if Bungie saw this and worked on getting all armor brought forward to 2.0. If they can turn all Eververse armor into ornaments, maybe they can do the same with all armor.

    • Bungie designs their game and makes major design decisions that are actively hostile to player time investment. That’s every reason to drop the game entirely, even if there once was a time when the gameplay made it worth playing. I don’t believe the substance or developer support Bungie has provided at any point since launch gives players a good reason to stick around (or return if they departed).

      • I agree with you. Changing the armor up again also makes me kind of want to put the game down for a bit. I understand its a grind. I really do but I don't think i'm up for it again. Props to all you guardians who are dedicated though. Keep it up.

      • Yup it sucks. Just like the year 1 exotics that was in this game when destiny 2 launched. Time keeps moving on so everything we had is either forgotten or useless. Like even the catalysts for the year 1 exotics like hard light, merciless etc no one uses them. If bungie could focus on buffing the exotics like those and stop focusing on nerfing the ones we have no choice in using because all the others are nerfed it will be great. I know this means nothing to your comment on the armor but it's kinda the same. I just want my hard light to be great again like in destiny 1 but for some reason in destiny 2 bungie made it turn out to be an energy weapon.

        • Ill tell you exactly what this game needs, it needs a glamour system, so you can glamour over your high light gear with gear that you actually like the look of but nope this is bungie and thats to much to ask for.

I've quit. Been playing since D1 launch. F2P is an insult to everyone that paid hundreds up to this point on base game and the DLC's. Eververse is an intrusive joke that had no place in a game like this. Game balance is terrible. PVP has been neglected for nearly a year. Plus, no dedicated servers? Still? What the actual -blam!- are they doing with all of those billions they've squeezed out of us? Every patch they push out breaks the game further. No respect for player time investment. Wiping the slate clean every time they release a $40 expansion. Boring, monotous grinds under the guise of free updates that require you to replay content that you've been playing for a year already. I'm good. BL3 is coming out soon. A looter shooter that respects my time and my wallet.

          • Day 1 of their Eververse ornament announcement I called their bull shit. There's absolutely no reason why literally every armor piece in the game shouldn't be able to be made into an ornament for transmogging. This would keep all armor in the game relevant because people would farm certain things just for the looks. But no, Bungie are money grubbing -blam!- that need to keep things centered around the Eververse. The failure to make all armor pieces transmog-able is the primary reason I won't be returning to the game.

It's okay MMO's traditionally do it, and so you'll have everyone excusing the stupidity of it. They don't have any imagination so it figures. Too bad they can't do the more interesting thing an MMO offers, which is the multiplayer part. People liked the vault of glass intro for a reason. That's the MMO thing they should focus on. Grindy garbage is the laziest thing, and it's not something that defines an MMO anyway.

                • How big can a game get before it becomes too big? 100 gig, 150, 200? Bungie has already stated that Shadowkeep and its Seasons is the last for D2 because of size concerns. Yes, we will probably lose everything again with D3 but I have no clue how Bungie could add a whole new game on top of an existing one. Or how well a game of this size would run on base Xbox One and PS4 consoles. Sure, Xbox Scarlett, PS5 and PC's could handle a larger game but Bungie still had to design the game to the vast majority of consoles still out there.

I didn’t realize so many ppl cared about the armour lol. I stopped caring when I realized we were getting a power jump every three months. I’m not wasting resources lvling up armour that to me hasn’t been anything close to D1 quality in appearance. I just infuse weapons and use what the game throws at me in armour until I’m max lvl. Then I add mods and by that time it’s usually time for another power increase so I just start the cycle over again lol Edit: I used to grind for the perfect armour set for each activity but losing all my stuff when D2 launched cured me of that habit lol

                • this is how games like destiny works. they left things behind to sold you new content. its the easiest way for them to change armor system. never farmed specific for armor and wont do it in the future.

                • I totally understand how you feel. However, I learned a long time ago that all loot is temporary in this game. Bungie bricks loot with reckless abandon. They don't seem to care how long it took you to win something or if you are having fun with it. They will ruin it, for the sake of their game strategy. You can't get attached to anything in Destiny, because it could be gone in a week.

                • If you have been around all this time and haven’t figured out yet what kinda of game Destiny is you’re definetly in for massive disapointments every time they shake things up. Yes it sucks to loose progress and throw out all the junk you have accumulated so far but in with the new out with the old. It’s all about the chase, that carrot in the stick the next best golden shinny pixel. And the journey. If the journey sucks you find a different destination. Many did. On the bright side we keep getting improvements in the game. Shaders, collections, random rolls, mods, customization options, new armor progression system and now an full blown (almost) vanity system. So long as the UI holds true and doesn’t take ages to load up on consoles we should be praising the innovation. Or unninstall. It’s up to you.

                • I didn't realize Armor 2.0 would reset everything again. I mean at least it isn't my guns, but Bungie can kiss my ass if they really expect me to preorder Shadowkeep after this. They better not nerf anything besides the shitty matchmaking or crucible in general.

                • IMO they should just make every armor piece in your collections that's a pre-2.0 armor set into an ornament so that you can keep any set you have and not feel like it's all a waste....again, just my humble opinion though.

I think what bungie should do is have this weeks IB armor, solstice armor, gambit armor (notorious), and Raid armour automatically upgraded to the new 2.0 system... It shouldn't be too difficult for them to upgrade 6 armor sets... that way players won't feel like they've wasted their time... I especially think the IB armor and Gambit Notorious Armor should be upgraded, especially if they want players to continue to play these game modes. If they dont, hunting the Gambit armor will be dead and who will want to grind to get new IB armor when they just saw the last batch become obsolete...

                • It would be cool if with every new DLC, entirely new designed armor came out with better abilities, thus making it so you don't want to keep your old armor and just infuse it. exotics should be the only thing that we want to infuse with each new DLC. That being said, forcing our armor to be obsolete because of the new armor 2.0 modification system is a farce. If I wanted to use my old armor where power doesnt matter (like the crucible/gambit) why the hell shouldn't I be able to use it and have an EVEN PLAYING FIELD with everyone else, regardless of what they are wearing?

                  • Armor in forsaken in my opinion will still be viable. IN my opinion, the perks are just fine. However, it is frustrating and I hope, That IF bungie decides to release another big expansion like forsaken or shadowkeep, that they do not change the armor.

                  • After realising this I've been doing the following since forsaken. Get a full set of crucible gear. Only infuse crucible power gear onto it. I refuse to buy into the infusion and armor left behind game.
