I don't get it. I've been playing a lot more than usual these past 2 weeks. I've been grinding as many powerful rewards as possible, but I'm still only at 730.
Am I missing something? How can it take some people a couple of days to gain 50 power, but it takes me 2 weeks to gain 30 power..?
Edit:
Thanks for the advice people. I only have one character so most of you agree that makes a big difference. This, combined with a couple of activities I forgot, and some plain ol bad luck with drops seems to explain why I'm struggling.

1 ReplyRaids, crucible, Gambit, Gambit prime, daily heroic story missions, strikes, black armory, the reckoning, dreaming city, spiders weekly bounty, night falls all dailys throughout the week. Don't forget prime engrams as well. I was gone all of season of the drifter left at 659 light already hit Max 750 on my Hunter it is not difficult to level up

I only have 1 character and I made it 750 in 15 days. And I don't raid. Menagerie was a game changer. Not only did it add 8 new sources of powerful drops per week on top of all the other sources that have been adding up over the seasons, but 3 of those drops you have complete slot control over. That's a huge asset in combating rng. Those are your gap fillers, when a particular slot is holding you back. You have to micromanage the living crap out of the entire level up process. Every powerful drop has an x/8 chance to advance you based on your slot situation. You have to know the drop range of every powerful drop in the game, determine your x/8 advancement probability for every drop source, then plan which activity to do next accordingly. Sometimes that means doing no powerful drop activities at all (if the probability is 0/8 or 1/8, for example) and instead grinding for a prime engram, which consistently have the highest drop ranges outside of the raid. I personally don't like rolling the dice on any drop with a worse than 4/8 chance to advance me, or 3/8 at the lowest. 2/8 and lower will likely maroon you. Prime engrams, 2 controlled weapon slot drops a week via forges, and 3 completely controlled slot drops per week via Menagerie are the ammunition you use when everything else is hella low probability. It's completely ridiculous, yes. But once you understand how all the drops work, you can game the probabilities.

Don't pay any attention to it. Once you get to 720, you're pretty well good to go unless you're raiding or planning on Menagerie Heroic of course. Just keep playing my friend, you'll get 750 same as me. I'm taking it easy this time around.

They drop really high.

The menagerie is the key slot runes to get powerfull gear in the armour/weapon slots your struggling to get
-
I'm stuck basically all my gear is either 731-739 and all my prime engrams and powerful drips are all dropping at 739
-
Im 750 on all 3, and I work a fulltime job, rng has been kind to me. Keep grinding you will get there.
-
Took 7 days. Played my azz off. Saw people 750 a day or so before me.
-
Im 749 and I missed the first week because I was in vacation.
-
The treasure milestone, menagerie chest and the new raid are the way to go. There’s enough to where you can pick and choose
-
Tons of playing, powerful gear drops, and luck.
-
Preparation before the season started by saving bounties, swapping weapons between characters to help boost their power level before claiming powerful engrams, and doing every highest rewarding sources of power engrams first before moving onto lower rewarding activities.
-
There are a TON OF powerful drops around. Just gotta do those activities and look for prime engrams. With all the right stuff I can get up to 745 atm.

Edited by Squid (Adept): 6/21/2019 4:26:05 PMI only have 1 character and I was able to achieve 750... and I started at like 694, just be smart with powerful reward drops and you can use the menagerie to guarantee certain drops of armor or weapons that might be lower than your average

Edited by Foreverwasted: 6/21/2019 2:55:32 PMIts all about efficiency when picking up your drops. In what order you pickup powerful engrams or do certain activities etc. I recommend you take a look at D2checklist.com. That will list all of the weekly activities and raids and tell you how much your LL is likely to go up when you pick up a powerful engram/powerful gear from completing a bounty or weekly. Raids are also very useful in getting more powerful gear. Weekly bounties give powerful rewards too. Newest raid giving the biggest boost of +8 to +12 light per drop. Normal powerful weekly engrams for instance are only +2 to +5. Then after all your weeklies are done. Do Menagerie (+4 to +6) to target your lowest LL gear to bring those up. I'm up to 747 right now just by following the above each reset. Always lvl one character to 750 light first. Then transfer guns over to

Tons of ways to get powerful drops now at this point in the game. 750 was very easy to get to in a week. Now with menagerie u can literally forge whatever weapon or armor u need that is holding u back also . Easiest time in destiny’s history for going up light levels

Some ppl treat this game like it's an mmorpg and play it for like 10-15 hours a day. It's really sad. Then they -blam!- about how this game does not have enough content to keep them busy and that it tries to hard to satisfy the casuals and not the hardcore players. LOL!
-
4 RepliesI got to 750 in ten days. I did all milestones in one character, transferred over weapons to the next, completed those, then transferred again. Dreaming City give the lowest drops, so I did those first. Then I did the Flashpoint and adventure. Once you have them all done, do Menagerie and use this link below to make specific items. Also make a helmet through Reckoning. It won't be a high drop, but it'll still be 2-3 above your light. https://chalice.recipes/ I also have no life and didn't cook but maybe two of those days. Lots of sandwiches, cereal, and Chef Boyardee was eaten in this house 😂😂😂

Haven’t been trying and at 748, I don’t do all the milestones . I multi task like crazy and I’ve had pretty good luck. I don’t raid either .
-
I literally just bought the season pass as opulence dropped so i had access to far more powerful bounties than most people, 750'd all 3 very quickly with the usual switching weapons between characters, do any exotic quests and crucible quests and crucible rank ups (as with any game mode) gets you powerful gear very quickly combined with all the new content. I did not do any raids as too much content to do already and i hate raids but another place i am sure you can gain multiple drops of powerful gear
-
Raids and being in a clan. I rarely bother with daily and weekly milestones.
-
2 RepliesEdited by NVMYGT: 6/21/2019 2:26:03 PMAll 3 are at 750. Its been said already but grind out everything with one character before starting another. When your prime attunment runs out you are good to start another. Transfer weapons over to your next character and start again. Every reset grind out your highest character first.
-
Luck and doing literally everything on three characters.
-
750 on two, could be today on the third. Playing all three really helps
-
Especially when "powerfull gear" drops -5 to what you already have. Flashpoint, 2 forged weopons and Dreaming City bounty all gave me pointless low gear that got chucked in the vault
-
Don’t forget about Spider’s weekly powerful bounty
