I really don’t get this community

I know I saw posts asking for old locations to return but when it does they lose their minds saying it’s recycled stuff when in reality they got what they wanted There’s LITERALLY no pleasing this community Do something fun Gets beratfor it being to hard Bring back fun weapons or locations people asked for Get berated for recycling stuff Look they can’t make brand new stuff every time okay sometimes bringing back old stuff helps

  • These issues are nothing new to the gaming community, and have plagued games for the last 20 maybe 20+ years. I have been playing video games in some form for the last 40 years. Arcade games, Pong, Atari, Nintendo, Sega, Zonic the Hedgehog was awesome, MMORPG's, shooters etc etc. I have seen many changes over the years, but mostly in the people playing. Game makers have struggled with different aspects of game design trying to appease everyone. It's not just Bungie. It is the whole gaming industry. Gaming to me has always been about the experience. I will never race a car in real life. I left the military 24 years ago and will never serve again. I sometimes miss the military and find myself jonsing for action. I will more than likely never battle a dragon, goblin, Hive, Cabal etc etc. Playing video games puts some of these experiences in my grasp. I believe we have lost that emphasis on the experience or entertainment, and now the emphasis is on being better than. The great competition. So much nerd rage. There is a huge emphasis on Esports more so than there ever was. There is the view I am a better player than all of you. We want to be number one at any cost. Who doesn't want to see their name with the most kills or on top. I know I like to see my numbers comparable to the people I am playing with. I like the feeling I have done my part to accomplish the mission. I like the feeling of being able to hold my own in PVP. There are a lot of powerful weapons and gear to take out some powerful enemies. We over use these powerful weapons and gear to gain a distinct advantage over others. The whole one shot one kill phenomena. It kind of sucks in PVP when your getting killed over and over again with a grenade launcher (one shot one kill). A weapon in PVE saved for Bosses, Minibosses, and large number of mobs. People start to scream foul because of it. When they get nerfed those distinct advantages are gone and we scream foul. The cycle continues. It is not so much these weapons and gear need to be nerfed, it is in my opinion we need to be more respectful of each other. The whole headshot goes against everything I was taught in the military. The only people who went for headshots were snipers. I have been playing Destiny 2 for three months now. I never played Destiny 1. I am a good player. I am not the best of the best of the best. Three weeks into playing I receive a clan invite, and a few days after that a raid invite. I knew nothing of the raid and stated such. Normally I wouldn't run without doing some research first. I did horrible on the raid mostly because what I expected wasn't what it was, which isn't a bad thing. It didn't stop the clan I was in from crucifying me. I left the clan. I run Vanguard Strikes public events and other stuff, haven't been able to find people to do other things with or even just run around the galaxy together as a clan. Vanguard Strikes are pretty cool I enjoy the play. I also want experience more and haven't been able to. Sometimes it feels as though we are racing to the end. It is as if we want to get through the content as quickly as possible instead of enjoying the play. There is a lot of times some player who decides to just run to the end, or to the next step, skipping the killing of what could be considered trash mobs. Nothing is better than in the middle of killing the wanted you get the message joining allies in 4 seconds, because one player ran to the end. In forge ignitions you get the players that just want to kill everything and never pick of a charge to stroke the forge. These events are killing this game for me. The last thing is the reward doesn't fit the task. You can spend 5+ hours, 5+ days completing a task for a reward which is worse than the same thing that already random dropped for you. It gets to the point were you don't accomplish things like rare black armory bounties because the reward isn't good. They get dismantled, and it leaves you with disappointment and that feeling of why bother.

Half are people who just thought it be a good idea to have destiny 1 and 2 fused together to make one single game and get rid of the numbering convention in the title and just keep adding to the game for the remainder of the franchise . Naive, and unpractical, but not necessarily malevolent. And yes half did indeed want essentially rise of iron esque updates to existing locations. So yes you obtuse man , there is no pleasing the community, cause contrary to what you or anyone else might believe , just cause people are part of a community doesn't mean we all agree or want the same thing, you and so many of people rushing to Bungie's defense use that word community and act like we all got together as some democratic legislative body and had a electoral vote and unanimously decided on things, hence why I myself never present my opinion or what I believe to be the opinion of others as the view entire community , but as my opinion or the opinion of a significant portion of the community cause I know for a fact that not everyone will agree with me . Lastly there a number of reasons certain individuals such as myself don't like recycling stuff for the most part, for starters the fact that they told us that destiny 2 was going to be so much different that it would not be feasible for us to keep our stuff and to boot they wanted a clean slate so as to be able to make new stuff without people automatically comparing it to previous stuff like gjallarhorn , and yet here we are in almost year 3 , stuff constantly reappearing that we "lost" when the vaults were destroyed. That said stuff has to be constantly reearned, not my beef but some do , and I agree it gets irritating at times. That old stuff being recycled is sometimes necessary I would concur, FFXIV for example often repurposes old armor and weapon designs for leveling armor , but the frequency that Bungie reuses content is overboard most of the time and leads to the perception that Bungie has nothing original to give people .

        • The reason is that their are two sides that have opposing viewpoints so the two can’t be pleased at the same time.

        • Recycled content should be from the QoL team and not a paid update IMO. Seems like it should be easy to remaster stuff from D1 every once in a while to kill content drought. Unless they are reworking music enemies, mechanics, etc. Honestly, I don't care one way or the other, but I thought it was strange we didn't go to Ceres or Alpha Centauri or something like that. Maybe it was just about not having to create new NPCs and enemies. But yeah, some people want old content back but the rest of us want to feel like we are in a new place. Not that everything has to be new, but it's fun to feel curious and excited to explore a new area. So will it feel like the same old moon we wasted months of our life cheesing Crota on or will it feel fresh?

        • For me i'd have said if they bring back old locations it should be in the free parts of the seasonal updates rather than as part of paid dlc. However for me The Moon just looks both old and new, they said it's double the size of D1's Moon and has changed considerably. I guess it'd fall in a similar style to Rise of Iron's Plaguelands since it also had an area of the Cosmodrome.

          • For the record, I didn't make any of the above posts. But, I think the general sentiment is that old content is good when it comes with new content, and when it's a surprise, and also if it's free. That's why a lot of people enjoyed going back to the Cosmodrome to get Thunderlord ( even if was only for 1 mission ), because it was a surprise, and it was free with Forsaken. However, when Bungie asks you for $35/€35 to revisit and replay the smallest destination in Destiny 1, it's hard not to be a bit cynical. The negative feedback has less to do with recycled content, and more to do with monetization of said old content. I think the community is happy with old destinations when it's a surprise. Like one day log onto Destiny 2, and suddenly Venus is suddenly selectable on the director for a week.

            • People want access to things they have already paid for, not to be charged more money for it. I already paid for the Moon and all they’ll provide is more caves with locked room boss fights and big structures that you can’t actually go to. Been there done that, litterally.

            • The problem is not "bringing back old stuff". The problem is the monetization of old stuff! Shadowkeep is obviously made mostly of D1Y1 stuff that has been reworked and altered like the Rise of Iron "expansion". Combined with a price of 35€, when millions of people will buy it, makes it a scam. If only 10..100000 would buy it, the price would be fair.

            • I want D1 content, but I want new content even more. It’s a new game, not D1, so as much as I love the D1 stuff, I think D2 stuff should be the priority for D2. If they can give us a good amount of new content, with D1 stuff alongside, I’d love that. But Bungie has a habit of using D1 stuff as a substitute for making new content.

I think the problem is that you are seeing two different parts of the community. One is fine with recycling content, the other wants new content. Don't lump the two together. There will always be someone who finds something wrong with a change. In the words of every elitist I have ever met, "get used to it".

              • I think the people that are complaining are the ones that don’t like that areas we had in destiny 1 are coming back but for a price. If they do this for other destiny 1 locations like the dreadnaught and Venus and again charge its player base I too would be upset. But this is only because it feels like an Activision kind of move, “oh remember all the gear and areas we took from you at beginning of D2, well here have it back but we want your money first”

                  • Personally, it's because that's a majority of what the next dlc is, just more asset flips. If it was half or less, cool, but most of it isn't anything new which is my issue, and they want full price for something that most of us have basically already paid for.

                  •
There’s LITERALLY no pleasing this community
That's the problem. There's obviously different parts of the community that want different things. Of course they're going to clash and berate when Bungie does something they don't like. It's not unique to these forums or Destiny in general.
Look they can’t make brand new stuff every time okay sometimes bringing back old stuff helps
Yes but Bungie are charging for it. When I buy an big expansion for a game I don't expect to go back to seeing old weapons, content or locations. When it costs $35 I damn well expect to see a major chunk of new stuff.
