Why does every cool exotic mission have to have a timer and jumping puzzles? It sucks all the fun out of the quest.

Having a timer on these missions just makes them frustrating, and impossible for 99% of the player base. The jumping puzzles make it even more annoying. Every time you guys do something cool, you ruin it. EDIT: I got it and the catalyst.👌

  •
EDIT: I wonder how many of the people talking crap and downvoting actually have the gun?
Not yet because I wont be playing until Friday but I'll have it easily considering my squad already has the catalyst and I've soloed D1 and D2 Spindle/Whisper.

  • Well, sleeper didn’t have a timer. Ace of spades didn’t. The last word didn’t have a timer. None of the vanilla planetary exotics had timers. Maybe the timer there is to add variety? But that’s just a theory, a game theory!

  • Like the whisper mission, this is not that difficult. It took my fireteam four tries to successfully complete it. We went in not to finish it but to learn each encounter and jump the best we could, eventually we made it all the way and finished it. It really is not that hard

This is so pathetic. Maybe you are just one of the 1% that doesn't know how to jump. lol

  • I down voted your post. The timers can be annoying. Not "impossible for 99% of the player base". The jumping puzzles may be annoying at first, but get easier with practice. Especially for weapons like this one, I damn sure don't want it as a participation prize. Been less than 24 hours and you are already crying about the run? I wonder how much you will pay for somebody else to get it for you. I am one of those who does not have it yet (and ran the Hell out of it last night with two friends). I will NOT pay for somebody else to get it for me. I will continue to figure out what the best setup is that works for me. I will probably make a lot of solo runs with no intention of even really making it to the boss simply to "git gud" at running it to speed up the process for me and my buddies. As stupid as a comment like this is going to sound (simply because it's about items in a video game)... The weapons and the times I cherish the absolute most in these games come from the toughest challenges. This one already has some funny moments for me and buds, along with some damn frustrating moments for all 3 of us. This thing is making some good memories for us to smile and laugh at later.

    • The mission for me was only frustrating because we had a teammate who could not keep up and we tried many things like just getting to the boss room and letting him get there on his own and we also tried taking every step with him(babysitting him) but that made us lose a lot of time. But with a few tries he started to remember exactly what he was doing and we all got to the boss room with like 9:00 left. You just have to get familiar with it so you know what setups work and what enemies you focus on and what jumps you can skip.

    • Impossible for 99% of the player base meanwhile about 40 percent were soloing Whisper and 50 doing it in a team

    • Have gun. Jumping puzzle is easy. Memorized it the first time my friend showed me and only died to Trevor. There’s literally an emblem for finishing it with 5 minutes left, so if people can complete in 3/4 of the given time then it’s not bad at all. It’s just more interesting than shoot bad guy, die, die, die, shoot bad guy, die, shoot bad guy, shoot bad guy, die, repeat. Gotta move quick, know the path, and land with both feet.

        • Who would’ve thought an op weapon would have a hard to complete mission huh. Would you rather they release it as a Last Word style quest and so mindless bullshit for 3 hours to get the gun?

        • I disagree w taking the fun out. Personally, I HATE jumping puzzles and I HATE timers. However, it adds a sense of intensity that you dont have without the timer. May as well transport straight to a boss fight and have no lead up to the actual encounter.

          • It’s an incredibly powerful weapon. It shouldn’t be simple to get. They are hitting the sweet spot with these quests. Thorn felt right (although for the trouble I think the weapon should be a little better). Last word quest was a good length - troubled by a little weird mechanic at the end, but appropriate length. This is much better than the whisper quest where you had to wait for the public event to drop, then run the thing, fail a few times and waste hours waiting on the quest to drop again.

            • Hey have the gun it's easy your edit is annoying and the timer isn't an issue. It's 20 minutes, learn it in a couple runs and full run it when you're comfy. It's not like there's a huge mechanic or requires a certain exotic to be playable. C'mon it's mostly a jumping puzzle it's not like you're taking more damage from falling then gladd or something.
and impossible for 99% of the player base
i don't think you're understanding how insulting that figure is to the actual player base
The jumping puzzles make it even more annoying
there's like 3 mechanics to this game, and you want them to ignore one?
EDIT: I wonder how many of the people talking crap and downvoting actually have the gun?
the quest hasn't even been out for a full day yet - people can still downvote your opnion without the gun. The're probably planning on getting it later in the week - weekends have the heavy traffic for playtime
bonus: bungie stated back in D1 about trials, but i feel its applicable here - (paraphrasing) but just because you own the game, doesn't mean you're entitled to everything. The ones that want something will put the effort in, the ones that don't - simply won't. Hell I want 1k Voices - but i haven't played LW more than 2 times - if i want it, i'm going to have to keep playing it - its just not in the cards right now
• From what I've seen, it has a crit damage of 40+ on a 450 pulse rifle. A few failed runs and practice time is a trivial price, relatively. At least it's not gated behind comp.

Impossible for 99% of the playerbase? I think you’re over exaggerating just by ALOT.... Just keep practicing. The more times you run through it the faster you’ll get. Adjust your FT for the different shields. It’s not that hard. This really is no different than the Whisper quest. With just fallen instead of Taken. And to your edit if you inspect players character and they have a blacked out classified weapon equipped... They have it.

              • Boi you best shut up, this is WAY easier than what the quest was in D1. Giving the gun in this form, you should be thanking Bungie.

I am cool with the timer. I just wish after the time was up, you could still complete the mission without the payoff. Players being able to continue after the timer is up would allow the ones of us who have difficulty with jumping puzzles the ability to practice. You can watch all the vids out there and kwtd, but actually doing it is a different story. I sucked at the Whisper, but the way it was structured allowed you to practice the jumping. I practiced my ass of and now can crush it. My only complaint is this mission does not have that. I don't want anything handed to me and I want to git gud without wasting other peoples time.

                • It's the only thing bungie can think of. Limiting your time and jumping. I mean it's on the case for Destiny 2, "time restricted jumping simulator" Also this mission doesn't look too bad. Just waiting to see if anyone will solo it one day or if one day it will be soloable. If not then just another exotic not to acquire. I have it in D1 anyway.

                  • What.. all two of them that are timed? I mean, I feel like it creates a challenge. I think for the bored people in Destiny they may need that. I think no matter what someone would have a gripe. 😅
