So after I bought MK XL for like $5 off Xbox, I have been really getting into the lore and what makes it fun. The problem is I’m garbage tier at Fighters. Never touched one till I got DBZFighters on Switch.
So some of the story is coming out and it looked interesting, time manipulation stuff, Radien changing. Cast of characters is a mix of old a new, with a -blam!- ton of DLC on the way.
But the concerns is the gear arguments and the multiple currencies that you can’t use because they haven’t turned the stores on yet.
Some vague political remarks too like Shao Khan saying make Outworld great again, but that’s a minor thing
As a super filthy casual to this genre and franchise I’ve been weighing the pros and cons with each other

Definite yay.

Mortal Kombat is not that difficult to be decent at. Just find the character that fits your playstyle and go from there. Scorpion and Raiden have always been my mains since MK2. The story is one I've always enjoyed so I'm looking forward to how this one will turn out, also being able to play as Shao Kahn again will be great.

waiting for the new samurai shodown.

I’d rather play Tekken.

1 ReplyIt’s only been out for a few hours. If you are feeling on the fence & aren’t super big on FGs, I’d wait. Plus, MKXL should keep you occupied for a while if you’re on a budget.

3 RepliesI could never get into fighting games. Aside from gameplay and story, the communities aren't great. They're not as toxic as shooters but they're pretty damned elitist. If you're not fighting a button masher it's some dude comboing you across the map. There never seemed to be any middle ground. The only fun I've ever really had with them was at parties having mini tournaments fighting friends on a couch.

Not interested. Fighting games became boring to me years and years ago.

2 RepliesMortal Kombat has always been garbage. If you get a fighting game, you’ll want one that actually teaches you, so you can git gud, rather than just figuring it out as you go.
And anybody who knows me already knows where this is going..
I’d recommend picking up Skullgirls. Not only is it just a better game, but it’s got a really good tutorial that’ll help you git gud at fighting games. Not only that, but it’s only half as much. $25 on PS4, $10 on Xbox (+$25 worth of DLC). It’s coming to Switch soon, too!

NRS make fighting games for the super filthy casual, so you might get enough enjoyment out of it. I'd recommend waiting until Samurai Showdown on June 27th, though. It looks way better.
