Bungie, this true?

About removing PvP. Now, I'm a PvE'er main. I sometimes despise PvP, and I'm not a good PvP'er at most times. But I say don't remove it. Yes, PvP is the minority of the game(Correct me if I'm wrong, but around 25%-30% of the playerbase main PvP solely) But don't forget the ones at PvE who go into Crucible to either test it out , or use both modes(PvE and PvP) or let off steam of the repetitive nature PvE can come to those of us who main that side of the game. It'll cause a domino effect. You'll lose your PvP playerbase, and also the PvE group who play the mode to let off steam. We won 't have anything to do when we're done with our PvE activities, and therefore will get extremely bored, and the game will simply die away from our minds, and we'll end up not even looking at it again. Yes, I personally despise the mode due to the toxic crowd it can bring. but I'll be lying to myself to say that there is no cool PvP'ers out there. I've currently started grinding out Luna. Despite my skill, and when I got higher into the ranks on competitive, a sort of unspoken rule was written out about not grabbing Heavy, and damn was it fun. Not just the game, but the respect the two teams showed without even talking to eachother. Over at PvE I never really see that. it's whoever gets it first, similar to what I see in QP. Removing PvP will affect PvP'ers, and most likely lose them all, and a decent portion of PvE. And this... 'Darkzone' thing I've been hearing about being implemented into D3 instead of Crucible? That'll just cause more friction between the two communities.. In my eyes anyways. EDIT: Wow, mostly a civil debate.. ooft. But to the point I made this post. Bungie being so quiet with us, concerning this topic, especially with 2 of their dev's leaving? Even a 'We cannot comment on this topic at this time' would be good enough for me. https://www.polygon.com/2019/4/4/18295439/destiny-3-crucible-multiplayer-mode-pvp?fbclid=IwAR3W8Nztvc2goRHUphbPFTQpRUUQgqv__sKSY1u7BS1AZtvElja9-Z-HAw4 Okay I stand corrected. I was just worried :( You guys can mock me in crucible with my.. uh... what is my KDR again? .80? idk.

    • They shouldn’t get rid of it, they should just stop catering directly to the PVP community and ruining gear and abilities that were once good.

    • If they get rid of it oh well that’s their decision but to make both sides happy all they have to do is separate pvp from pve they both can have their own loot pools that don’t crossover and both have their own experience system. If they can separate the two in halo they can do it here.

    • this player base can only hope so. Prometheus Lens (energy weapon) - nerfed as a direct result of Crucible PvP. Nova Warp (warlock super) - nerfed as a direct result of Crucible PvP. One Eyed Mask (Titan helmet) - nerfed as a direct result of Crucible PvP. Sleeper Simulant (heavy weapon) - nerfed as a firect result of Gambit PvP. the list goes on and on. Meta weapon - the same for 4 seasons running (or is it 3). - Luna's Howl - only accessible to the elitist and cheaters. I don't know what the darkzone is, but if it is just as bad as the current crucible - do not add it.

      • Disagree about Crucible. Agree about The Dark Zone. The impact of the DZ on The Divison 1 was INCREDIBLY toxic....and Massive has gone a long way towards trying to declaw and defang that toxicity. The DZ was just a ganker's and griefer's Paradise. But at the end of the day, PVP engagement doesn't matter, if it doesn't translate into REVENUE for the game. If you play PVE, you have have to continue paying into the game in order to gain access to the new content. You dont' if you mainly pay PVP. The maps are free. The pinnacle weapons are open to everyone. Thorn and The Last Word are back....but most verteran players feel like their power has been watered down. So they aren't meta-defining at this point So the question becomes: "How is PVP adding to Bungie's bottomline.....and is it worth what they'd have to expend to develop for it....and maintain it?" Especially given how much of an anchor around PVE's neck that its been these last 4.5 years.

        • the game needs to have both, and gambit, and srl. i get bored of pve, its mind melting to speedrun the same couple of strikes endlessly, pvp is the only thing replayable about destiny for me. its fun and exciting, heart pouding and emotional, pve is relaxing and boring and repetitive. its controlled, pvp is not. people need to stop acting so entitled and stop giving bungie a hard time over balance in pvp, remember its just a game, and it's their game, not yours.

I like both sides. Pve grinding does get boring Pvp does go blain after a while. Gambit is fun to a point too. What I'm getting at is. If you're not playing all the content why you even here? Mix it all together this games does give me alot of fun entertainment. Edit#1: Dark zones or open world pvp with battle zones( pvp zones with rewards) is not a new concept. This however was one of my top favorite things in PC mmorpg's. So, I'm going to to have fun killing the crybabies that all hide in their corners of Destiny2 muahahaha.

                  • Here is the solution to the pvp being removed debacle/rumor. Bungie you do pretty good with pve stuff just add a bit more variety to boss mechanics. For example every boss in this game has a stomp mechanic. Change it up a bit and be creative with the bosses attacks/move set. For example instead of just a stomp and you fly backwards, have the boss shoot its gun/power in the sky and it makes a wave of energy pushing you back or does major damage if your caught in it. That was just one example for pve for how you can create variety with the enemies. Now for my solution with pvp. Remember how we had vendors in d1? We need vendors back and for this specific reason. Vendors sell every peice of armor for legendary shards or whatever. All of the faction vendors items cannot be used in pvp. The only loadouts you can use in the crucible will be from the crucible vendor. The crucible vendor will sell every peice of armor- helmet, arms, chest, legs, class item. The crucible will also sell every weapon archetype in the game. Of course these will all be themed for the crucible so their style will all match "red and white" or whatever colors you decide for crucible. So there now you can have pve have its power fantasy with crazy loot and when you want to go in the crucible, you have to have on a complete set of crucible gear- weapons and armor. Do you see where I am going with this? That way you can have you pvp balance and let pve have its power fantasy uncapped. Crucible would then be closer to year 1 of d2 but hey at least it would be balanced and when you beat the other team, you know it's because you're better and not your meta loadout. And you can call that the competitive crucible. Then you can have crazy crucible or whatever you'd like to call it to where everyone can wear the loadouts they want like how the crucible is now. Let me know if this sounds stupid or good. Thanks

                  • "Perhaps more interesting than darkness powers is AnonTheNine’s claim that Destiny 3 will feature a PvEvP zone where players will be able to “fight for territory” while also taking on AI enemies. Though the leaker does stress it won’t be like The Division’s Dark Zone." Is this what's getting people bent out of shape or is there some other AnonTheNine post that actually says they are mulling over ending PvP? I feel like people are taking this too far. The line says they will feature PvEvP zones, not end PvP. It's possible for both to exist. And for what it's worth, PvEvP zones sound cool:)

                  • PvP can go. Although I like the aspect of player versus player, I hate the way Destiny PvP is designed. Its forced fun in a toxic community backed by BungLe's poorly managed sandbox. Quite simply, it's just not fun

I have said on many occasions I used to love the crucible was never any good but after SBMM was turned off forget it. PVP needs to stay but not in its current state. It must be balanced for ALL. Currently, it is for the hardcore players who are shit hot or so they think. The lower end weaker players are just annihilated by them because we have no SBMM. CBMM was asked for and was given but the detriment of the lower skilled players. CBMM is what has caused the crucible problem BUT the connection issue does need looking at, so those calling for it were justified in a way. Dedicated servers are one way, another is a scan or test on before joining a match to see if your connection is good enough if that is possible? If it does not come up to scratch then you are not allowed to enter the crucible. We have to remember this is a rumour and may not be true. But being the source has always been nearly bobon with his/her leaks in the past well.

                      • As a PvE main, I personally feel like this removal is necessary because time and again our guns have been nerfed because Bungie treats PvE and PvP as one entity. If cutting a game mode is required to enhance the quality of another, than I consider it to be a necessary sacrifice. Destiny was never supposed to have PvP to begin with, and it shows.

                        • Removing pvp will only benefit pve mains more. We won’t have to have balanced skill trees or subclasses as much as now. Meaning we will feel more powerful with more options. And pve will truly be able to shine once the game doesn’t need to be balanced around crucible. Story will be way better or it should be and pve will be much more replayable and rewarding all together. I vote to dump pvp, but that vote has been cast since 1.1.1 in vanilla destiny.

                          • I think a lot of you guys don't understand that Bungie is a business first. Bungie is going to look at what brings in revenue and most people have argued pretty convincingly that PvP doesn't generate any. Everything PvP is free. So Bungie is probably addressing whether it makes sense to have a smaller player base that pays for more content verses a bigger player base where half don't contribute anything. Maybe if they introduced something like a battle pass you could justify PvP pulling their weight financially, but that means all you PvP guys need to buy it then. The amount of time, money and man power it takes to sustain PvP far outweighs PvE. PvE doesn't take much balance. PvP is constantly shifting. The other problem is PvP guys want to have their cake and eat it too. You don't want to have to pay for new maps and yet expect them to be there each season. You don't want to lose your power fantasy and yet complain Crucible is never balanced. I doubt PvP will be removed entirely from Destiny, but I think it's current form is the last we will see of it. And you might not fall into this category because you clearly play PvE first. But Bungie knows how every player acts and it sounds like the majority don't buy expansions or cosmetics that help sustain the game.

Let's see, if we get rid of PvP.... 1. No more constant PvP centric idiotic nerfs 2. No need to make all the grenades useless 3. No need to scale back space magic supers 4. Can have gear sets for all modes 5. No more endless whining from the tryhard community 6. No reason to keep Thorn a mediocre pop gun 7. No reason to hold back heavy ammo So, where's the downside? Why should I care if PvP is removed?

If they remove pvp destiny will probably get stale real quick no matter what they think they can do.. some people just play pvp mostly because they created a good game with good gunplay and destiny pvp is fun! If they kill off pvp I think it’s because they don’t wna fork out for servers! And people complain about lag etc... I’ll keep playing d2 if pvp is removed!
