I get it. Gambit is a competitive game mode that requires team effort and the lower team member count makes it that much more of a pain when someone leaves or rage-quits. I'm not against the idea of penalizing THOSE players.
But for those who are on winning streaks then disconnect because the game decides another region is empty so they put you there, spamming you with an entire zoo of error codes, DON'T penalize those players. The new season should bring an update to Gambit that detects these issues that are not the player's fault and prevent them from being penalized.
Having to reset infamy three times is painful when you're randomly put on Brazilian servers then get an error code each time. Or when the game crashes because apparently there are "too many unused assets on the ground." Or your team gets Team Rocket blasted back to orbit because of a "bad connection."
Here's a suggestion. BEFORE the match, check each player's connection and if their ping is too high or their connection isn't suitable for long periods of gameplay, PREVENT them from playing. Make the launch button red or flash telling them "your connection isn't good enough to play this activity" or something. I'd honestly rather have that and keep my winning streak than to be put in a match only to get an error code 5 seconds after.
100 hours into Gambit and finally getting the Dredgen title, I want the game mode to be less stressful for my clanmates finishing Malfeasance, earning triumphs, doing bounties, and just winning and having fun in Gambit. You guys are Bungie and I know you can do it.

Shouldn’t play unless you know you have a solid connection.
-
I’ve never disconnected from s game of gambit, may be you should improve your network.
-
How do you propose knowing the difference between people who pull the network cable or reset their router to avoid a loss and those who disconnect for reasons beyond their control? I guarantee you if an unexpected outage stops you losing rank then many people will inexplicably lose connection every time they are behind.

1 ReplyEdited by Talia Sendua: 3/1/2019 10:00:15 PMI agree but not because I'm influenced by this. But I also think personally that everyone who plays games should be able to find out your issues by testing your own network first.

6 RepliesEdited by StrictlyTy: 2/28/2019 5:44:58 PMIf they dont penalize you for network disconnections, People will just pull their cables if they're losing.

7 RepliesDon't moan at a game developer because your internet isn't up to scratch. Not telling you to 'buy better internet' but at the same time, if you won't, expect issues.
-
Very long flying screens, over 5 minutes. Up to 8 minutes then error codes only to get a quitting warning. Then banned 3 times in a week. Was insulting to be treated as a cheater. Refreshing to read your game and your code still treats players this way!
-
2 RepliesOnly reason they have a penalty is because people tend to pull their ethernet cords in order to avoid losing penalties.

Dedicated Servers. PLZ.

2 RepliesIf I don’t pull out my Ghost, than I didn’t choose to leave.

Just logged on now. "No LAN cable connected" Yes there is and I've just done a speed test. It's fine. Got kicked out last night after "contacting Destiny servers" BS came up. This morning ??? "Woops....you quit a gambit match" No I -blam!-ing didn't ....you booted me out.
-
Funny enough, haven't been booted since D1 trials. Of course, I've been accused of it, but then I checked what their fireteam member that got "booted" and sure enough, still online and just sitting in orbit. Is DDOSing really as rampant as people make it out to be? Or is it code for like "rage quit" or "avoid a loss penalty" or something?
-
1 ReplyI'm afraid I have to disagree. I have an average internet connection and don't have the issues you have mentioned above. Any more leniency on this would allow for people to manipulate their connection to gain an advantage as they already do in PVP.
-
Yeah, so everyone will pull the internet chord out, when enraged :)

I don't play Gambit for the simple reason that whenever my team of rando soloists do well against some 4-stack, _invariably_ my long-stable connection that carried me through plenty of Hardcore Team Deathmatch games in Call of Duty Black Ops 2... should suddenly get all flaky, and only after our team stomps the stack? I didn't get tired of losing in Gambit, I got tired of not even being able to finish games because I'd get 'mysteriously' disconnected from matches when I was doing well. I had to get a VPN service just to avoid getting DDoSed, and the fact that Bungie chose to forego the use of dedicated servers means that Gambit is virtually unplayable so long as DDoS-for-hire sites are easily accessible online, payable via PayPal no less. At least QuickPlay is less effort than having to grind annoying mobs in Gambit only to get force-disconnected from matches. :P

1 ReplyEdited by blade329: 2/28/2019 6:48:45 PMI had to quit Gambit last night because of lag, among other things. It was so bad, even the Cabal were teleporting on me.
-
1 Replygood idea dont let specific people play despite a declining player base
-
This is why I’ve barely played it in the last month, guess it’ll be worse this season where Gambit will be a major activity
-
I reset twice this week and this wasn't much of a problem.
-
I disconnect from gambit because of boredom....
-
I think it's kind of hard to tell whether it's a d/c or rage quit/intentional d/c and that's the reason why they haven't said anything about it. Literally everybody wants this to happen and it's been asked for since D1 came out, not anything new.
-
The only comments you're going to get is from mouth breathers who have no clue how unreliable p2p is.
-
You wont get penalized if you dont play that trash mode anyways

1 ReplyArdent reboot?
