It is clear Destiny is no longer listening to the majority of its community. The changes they have made to the game are clearly not generating or retaining gamers yet they keep piling on the bad decision making.
PVP is the worst it has ever been limiting accessability to casuals and solo queue players while forcing quests that utilize the game mode for progression. You cannot force players to engage in content because you want them to play it but instead need to expand opportunities in all areas of gameplay to aquire the same loot. Bungie acts like loot is something that comes out of their paycheck and if you don't earn it their way they you will suffer in all aspects of the game. This is the major mistake any game can make is base its progression on obtaining only a certain weapon or armor set to be viable. Destiny has no skilled-based mechanics and it is clear that cheaters and modders work dilligently to obtain meta load-outs specifically to halt the progression of the majority of players. Once these weapons are obtained by the few it becomes increasingly frustratiing and difficult for average or casual players to ever obtain them to the point they simply quit because they can no longer compete fully in the game.
The latest dlc does nothing to address any of the issues plaguing the game. They woud have done well to make all weapons more accessible while focusing on balance issues and cheating. Red dead redemption II online beta and since Bungie did nothing to address the major issues in Destiny, the customer base will continue to shrink going into December and after Christmas. This spells major disaster for the franchise if they wait and try to band-aid the game just before Anthems release in February..
Destiny is quickly approaching terminal velocity and will crash and burn quickly if nothing is done before Christmas. I assure you that if not major rollbacks occur before the new year there will be no Destiny 3 because Activision will pull production or post-pone development indefinitely.
I look forward to the fanboi crowd that will try to hijack this thread and use monosyllabic retorts to try and demean my analysis while providing no rational arguments to the contrary. Their own delusions will cause them the most pain when everything I have outlined above comes to fruition. Their tears will soon be the only thing they have left of Destiny.

1 ReplyI’d honestly prefer that they just do a complete PVP re work and just copy D1 crucible in year 3 - much more fun and replay able than the shit fest it is now. I could spend hours on destiny 1 crucible, now I’m just leaving mid game because shotguns are anally -blam!- me while lunas howl and grenade launchers are deep throat -blam!- me

Gamers come and go all the time. Big deal

it is clear that cheaters and modders work dilligently to obtain meta load-outs specifically to halt the progression of the majority of players
Could not have said it better myself. When it comes to pvp this community is TOXIC. And bungie promotes the most Toxic players. Allowing a system where streamers are now gatekeeping at every corner. After they get what they earned. They just jump on a recovery account and continue gatekeeping and do this all season long. Top ELO streamers(ps4) played all day long the last day of the season to make sure they held people back. What kinda trashcan of a person takes enjoyment in holding others back.

3 RepliesEdited by Zen Ape: 11/29/2018 7:15:18 AMBungie pulled the wheel too hard in the opposite direction, which let's be honest, is something they are known for doing. We swerved so we're no longer going to hit that car, but now we're going to go through that guardrail and over the side of a cliff. Yes D2 when it first dropped was a little too "casual friendly", but after that secret cabal meeting with the streamers, they decided to make it not casual friendly at all. Luna's should not be locked behind game play that most casual/solo players will never see. These reward based items should all be accessible, just ultimately take the casual/solo player a substantial bit longer due to skill and lack of a team to communicate with. A quest stating you have to 1) Play 100 games of Crucible (any game type), 2) Get 100 headshot kills with similar weapon type of reward, 3) Kill 1000 players, 4) win 25 games, or something along those lines would be ideal. The elite players with teams will knock that out in a week or two. The solo/casual, a month or two. Now the streamers can stream "Hey look what I can do" and "Here's how you can do it too", and the casuals can have their eyes on a long term goal prize and not feel completely left in the dust while they're eating bullets from these things in regular crucible and Iron Banner. Furthermore Bungie should make the Nightfall specific loot more available as well. Put them back in Heroic Strikes, even if it means making Heroic Strikes slightly harder and slightly decreasing drop rates. To make the elite and clan guys happy, just make the same items available in Nightfall but there is a higher chance of getting curated rolls. Tada, two player bases happy. Catalysts. Why hide a catalyst for a quest based exotic or an exotic that can drop from any content in a place that most players will never see, like the raids? With the exception of raid specific exotics, all catalysts should be able to drop from any content played. It's not like they drop often, as I play all the time and I haven't seen one in weeks. By changing that, now you just made more players happy and eager to play because there is now more potential loot that will drop and a hope to add to your every day grind and play. How about using some of those data driven metrics? The fact that a handful of things get used quite often by most of the player base and a lot of other items hardly get used doesn't necessarily mean grab a nerf hammer. Instead, try to figure out what's wrong with that stuff that's collecting dust and then make them slightly more interesting and usable. A broader collection of powerful items makes for a broader collection of happy players. When was the last time you saw a player wearing the Armatarium chest piece for instance? How about the Khepri's Horn helmet? Why are all the vendors outside of the tower now irrelevant? Why isn't their gear and weapons dropping with random rolls and upgrade options? Where are the faction vendors? I understand that you want an faction week where something special occurs, but why are they completely irrelevant now? Why can't I be a member of a faction? Why can't I grind for faction loot? And how about the arms dealer in the tower? What happened to arms week? These are the kinds of things that keep people interested and invested, and my fear is that by the time Bungie gets it right, it will be time to move on to D3 and lose everything we've worked so hard for. Oh your light is gone, and your gear is gone, and those places you used to go are gone, but hey, you can keep your characters looks if you'd like... This isn't rocket science, it's not that difficult to make a much broader collection of players happy and eager to play the game, and yet still make those special snowflake elite players feel like they are capable of doing something faster and better. For all it's flaws I love this game, and I've been a player since the launch of D1 over 4 years ago now, so I don't want to see this game fizzle out (like it came very close to doing already). Make your elites happy by giving them options to do things faster better, make the casuals happy by giving them options by doing things and more things, so long as it is possible and doable so long as they just play, and make Activision happy by adding more shaders, patterns, banners, emotes, ships, sparrows, ghosts, and other types of flare that many players will want to buy rather than just hope for because with a much bigger pool the chances of getting something specific go down, all the while more people are getting into the game and sticking around to play. I'm not going to charge for my advice, but the fact that it's needed at all considering its simplicity and "well duh" like levels is pretty sad.

1 ReplyA few things: 1) The majority of the community is not PvP players. 2) PvP will never be the main focus of this game. 3) D1 Crucible was better when/because no one took it seriously. It was unbalanced, it had no dedicated servers, there were no stakes. It was just goofy and stupid and you couldn't really take it that seriously. Except then they added Trials and that is a mess not worth getting into; it became serious business and some players got massive egos. 4) Bungie screwed up hard when it came to D2 launch. We're close to being at D1 Crucible levels in terms of TTK except now people take it seriously/too seriously despite it being a joke of a competitive PvP experience. Again: unbalanced, no dedicated servers, but people have something to chase after so there are reasons to win, meaning people get frustrated at how broken it is. 5) Given the history of nerfs in D1, it's possible a pinnacle weapon could be nerfed for being "too good". Vex Mythoclast was nerfed despite only dropping via RNG from the Hard-mode Raid when there weren't any stakes in Crucible. It'd suck for those who earned it for sure, though, but I also feel like Bungie is less nerf happy nowadays.

1 ReplyI haven't played a second of pvp since solstice and I'm perfectly happy with the game.

5 RepliesI just traded in my xbox's and switched to psn. I had d2 for xbox and i hated it i wont be buying it for playstation this game is dead to me, them nerfing the ikelos shotgun just shows again how clueless they are. Whats the point of grinding for anything when you know it will get nerfed? Phuck bungie.

1 ReplyEdited by CosmiQ-Toast: 11/29/2018 1:48:49 AMBro it's just a game. Just play something else if destiny pisses you off that much. I don't play destiny seriously anymore because I realized the devs don't even take their own game seriously. If I die, meh so what? If I win, ok whatever. Destiny doesn't lead to anything in the future. You saw what they did to D1 all of your progress went out the -blam!-ing window and into the dumpster. And gave you a shitty excuse as to why you need to start over. Bungie doesn't even know where their game is going plot wise, can't even explain what the darkness is or the light. And the next game is supposedly going to rpg heavy. None of what we do now matters. So -blam!- it, just make the best out of it and have fun or play something else that's better.
-
1 ReplyI have no issues when things get nerfed if it's for the betterment of the game and it's community. I get it's fun to play with the most OP weapons and people are generally scared of trying something new, but as a game designer the worst thing you can have is a single item that overshadows everything else. It's about creating balance. Without this the game will get stagnant. On the pvp matchmaking issue. I'm on board. They need a solo queue. Having a solo queue doesn't hurt players who want to group up and do things together. The only reason players object to a separate solo queue matchmaking is because they will no longer be able to roll over solos. Instead they would be forced to play against other premade groups which would make things harder for them.

1 ReplyEdited by reenry: 11/29/2018 2:54:13 AMImmediately saw "utilizing the game mode for progession" and lost faith in reading. Also saw the game is more made towards cheaters or high skill players who would halt the progression for the casual player. 1. Not Forgotten is a great example of a gun meant for the player who is above average. If you plan to get NF, make it youre goal because thats it. Lunas was the casual player. No PvE content is slowed down because of hardcore gamers, everything will be obtained eventually right? 2. This game is meant for the dedicated player and rewards them. I dont know how many games you play but Destiny is not the only game with dedicated players to the loot. If something is challenging, a hardcore player will get it. I dont know how many times I have heard Destiny will crash and burn over the last few years but I can tell you are going off personal experince instead of facts and others. Destiny will loose players but they will come back. Enjoy being wrong.

3 RepliesEdited by Seoul: 11/29/2018 9:16:41 AMCompletely off topic but the term 'terminal velocity' is the exact phrase my ex used when she wanted a break lol.

8 RepliesYou got it all wrong. Sorry mate but there is a reality outside. Let me tell you: Activison, or say Bobby Kotick, is still very supportive of Bungie. In fact they want Bungie to work on D3 to regain vets, as they have significant evidence to conclude that no one is coming back until D3. Hence all their efforts are on D3. Every material for D2 is finished since long ago. Don’t expect maintenance teams to bring significant changes to the game. I am very supportive of this move. The quicker D3 will release, the faster we will forget this wart that D2 is.
-
It's not perfect but they have tried to add rings for everyone, hence, the tough crucible pinnacle quests for more hardcore players...when all these different types of players are demanding to be offered different types of things, different types of stuff is what you are gonna get...at this point, some people are good enough and/or play enough to get everything but everything isn't necessarily made for every player
-
You’re not “forced” to do the quest
-
4 RepliesGiving rewards to people for play game types is a good thing mate and having questlines to pursue as you play pvp/pve is great for any game. Also making weapons too accessible makes the game stale and boring if theres not mountains to climb. I hate that attitude of i want everything but i dont want to earn it, disgusting.
-
"it is clear that cheaters and modders work dilligently to obtain meta load-outs specifically to halt the progression of the majority of players." Haha, I have most of everything but you think I care about your game experience either way? Especially to spend my time "specifically" to halt YOUR progression? That's a special kind of koolaid making people come up come up with these conspiracy theories...I'm playing the game for my own enjoyment, I don't care if you progress or not
-
4 RepliesIt has become so bad that people are looking to sell account recoveries right on this app. Bungie just doesn't care... This is the least fun I've had between D1 and D2 and seriously the first time I've felt that I was gonna call it quits.
-
36 RepliesForsaken did how much for PvE again? oh, what's that, you need to prove you're even good with a hand cannon to get Ace? Boo freaking hoo. Hate these hyper-radical posts that think the sky is falling because the game asks you to do anything in the crucible, or that the matchmaking in the casual mode that now allows people to play how they want if they actually want to be different than others is exploiting the weaker player base because apparently being bad means you shouldn't struggle at all and should have stale even fights where you will not actually see improvement in yourself.
-
2 RepliesI fully expect a massive decline in player-base without matchmaking changes.
-
6 RepliesIt’s a whole flop. As a longtime player that enjoys PvP, this one is the worst I have experienced. It makes me wanna quit this game
-
It is clear Destiny is no longer listening to the majority of its community.
Wait... they started doing this?
-
7 RepliesSo basically, all the sweaty tryhards are leaving, so hopefully the game will go back to the core aspect, PvE. Why is this bad news?
-
Actually the majority do not want nerfs. The vocal Crucible cry babies are being ignored.
-
Yes you 100% right
-
Lol considering they make pinnacle weapons for comp a rocket launcher and the legend rank for valour a shotgun, that’s my evidence that bungie don’t listen but address things that aren’t even needed like the trench barrel on Ikelos - why?
