Define the pay out ... you talking about a subjective price right?
English
-
No, I’m talking about the games are programmed to have a certain number of payouts per hour, guaranteed. Win amount is not, but if you sit there for an hour or two, pumping coins, you will win something.
-
Same with destiny. The meatball doesn’t spawn but maybe you get a god roll bygones. Just because you don’t get a jackpot(ship/sparrow) doesn’t mean you don’t get a few quarters(a blue and some infamy). It’s funny you bring up casinos because destiny uses the same psychology that casinos use.
-
I didn’t bring up casinos, I pointed out that his analogy doesn’t work because casino games pay out more regularly, even if not a top jackpot, you get value. You can sit down at video poker with $5, and turn it into $10 within a couple of hours, with Destiny, you end up with a lot of typically useless shit.
-
You are not guaranteed to get 10 dollars. You can sit down at a slot and put in 5 dollars and lose it all Or you can win some. Literally slot machines and destiny are the same thing.
-
You’re playing the wrong slots, I guess. I’ve never seen anyone lose everything on slots. Bare minimum, they’ve broken even. They’re just boring compared to skill games. I’d much rather play poker.
-
Ok? Back to what we are actually talking about and that’s the fact that the destiny RNG system is a slot machine. No better no worse it uses the same algorithms and psychology that slot machines use, there are plenty of videos you can look up about it.
-
I would agree with that when it comes to engrams via Eververse. World RNG seems to be a little different, and ultimately, unrewarding. There’s little excitement, unless you see a yellow engram on the ground.
-
What is unrewarding to you might be rewarding for someone else. Do you have all your armor and guns rolled exactly how you want them? Random rolled legendarys really get me stoked if I roll a gun that I like using. If I get a bygones in gambit randomly I get excited because it can be a very good roll and that’s where the psychology of it all comes in. That rush of excitement is what brings everyone back to this game and why it is so addicting. They suck you back in with random rolls. Also exotics are dropping so little that when you get a new one you are stoked the rest of your gaming session.the bright color, the epic noise you hear when one drops, its all exactly like a slot machine. Year one felt unrewarding, now I feel like any moment I’m going to get that god roll weapon I didn’t know I needed.
-
You like shiny things, I see. I like substance. The weapon system worked for year 1, because we knew what was good, and we had some idea how to get several items. The problem is, higher tier items dropped too easily and regularly, making them less interesting. A system similar to an actual MMO, would have worked better, where specific items have a % chance to drop from specific enemy types, and higher tier items dropping from specific named enemies, al-la Final Fantasy XI, for example. Most items dropped from one or two sources only, with basic items dropping more often from regular enemies. Every encounter had an opportunity at a range of items.
-
Every encounter does have an opportunity at a range of rewards. I’m confused at what you want? You can get dreaming city gear from the dreaming city, there’s a range of weapons and gear that is a higher tier than other encounters and the gear reflects that by being able to roll with enhanced perks, the weapons are pretty solid as well(retold tale). The raid has even better weapons. Lower tier instances/encounters have lower tier rewards. And who doesn’t like shiny things

Edited by metastophicleas: 11/28/2018 8:28:02 PMLook at the loot pools from high end MMOs, like a FFXI, Everquest, etc. Materials could drop from anything, weapons/armor were more rare, but often useful or sold/traded for materials. I don’t like shiny things for no reason. They need to have purpose. Little of what drops now has any relevant purpose.
-
Edited by TheMadKing169: 11/28/2018 8:35:20 PMWell destiny isn’t a high end mmo. Its hardly even a MMO. Go play some EQ2 or FFXI I haven’t heard EQ Mentioned in ages though man that brings back some good memories. I -blam!-ing loved that game haha
-
By comparison, Destiny sucks. To be fair, other than the gun play, Destiny as a franchise is a massive letdown.
-
Ehh I don’t have the time to sink into an actual MMO. destiny has not let me down(besides Osiris) It is shallow enough for me to actually be a pretty solid player and also not have to play 8hours a day. Again what might be unrewarding and a let down to you may not be for others.
-
They promised depth and have undelivered on that promise, instead, giving us shiny, useless, BS. I don’t understand how anyone can say this game is in a good place when they’ve missed every mark they’ve claimed to have set. D2 is better in some ways than it was, but it’s still not what it should be, not even close, and the window dressing they’re trying to sell us for $35 is a abhorrent cash grab.
-
Edited by TheMadKing169: 11/29/2018 6:43:05 PMHave you completed every thing you can on the game? Do you have 1000 voices? Do you have Luna’s/NF Do you have over 100k in every nightfall Do you have every seal? Do you have a nicely rolled chattering bones? Do you even have a nicely built character with enhanced rolls that are synergistic? The game has depth you just don’t have any depth perception
-
Edited by metastophicleas: 11/29/2018 6:54:33 PMOr, I don’t see the point in rolling to dice on garbage that isn’t useful for how I play, never mind that half of that isn’t even interesting. Most of those things aren’t depth, they’re added grind for the sake of a tiny buff. I’d rather fixed rolls and a significantly lower chance of a drop.
-
Ok so the game doesn’t have depth because it’s not what you’d rather have in a game... got it. Stop playing then...
-
Is that what I said? 🤔🤣
-
Basically it’s what your saying. You’d rather have static rolls, like that adds depth? What? It’s the opposite of depth. It’s shallow “same thing every time”drops. You have no 600 characters and complain about lack of depth. You haven’t even done a raid man. Maybe start actually playing the game how it’s intended before you say it has no depth. Just because it doesn’t fit your play style doesn’t mean it has no depth. It’s that your play style has no depth you just wanna do some easy mundane shit and get everything I guess I’m not even sure what your complaint of the game is. You say that the buffs are too small to grind for yet I have a warlock with a taken armaments mod,thunder-lord, geomags, and an enhanced heavy lifting perk on my helmet. I can use nothing but my super and heavy with this load out. It’s so -blam!-ing OP but I had to KINDA work for it and that to you is just false grind when In reality it’s you just not enjoying the game enough to grind for it.
-
Edited by metastophicleas: 11/29/2018 8:28:38 PMI have 2 600 characters. Just because I’m using a couple pieces of gear I like that are lower light because I like the look (one for utility) is meaningless. Second, once above 580, there’s little reason to power up to 600, since the cap for most content is 580, with one piece at 590. If the grind isn’t enjoyable, and there’s little point based on my play style, then it’s quite ok for me to have a different opinion on it. Judging by the number of people actually playing the game and Activision’s disappointment, I’m in the majority. Quit defending mediocrity.
-
Again the game isn’t good because of your play style? What’s your play style if you don’t mind me asking?
-
Dude the new update is out! So much new cool stuff!!!
-
I doubt it.

Didn’t you see the new update on the page? The Road Ahead?! Man the year is Full to the brim!
