What’s a scout rifle?

Scout rifles are in dire need of a buff, they are never used in pve and the only one that’s good in pvp is jade rabbit, scouts are still in need of a buff, they are greatly under used in comparison to pulse rifles and everyone knows it. They feel like nerf guns in pve as well, they have no oomph, feels like a plinker gun ‘pew pew’ instead of bang, very pitiful and absurd difference to how rediculously powerful scouts were in d1, which i am not asking for, i’d just like them to be usable again. Buff scout rifles.

        • 180 scouts are pretty consistent. 150s are apparently bugged and don’t even shoot at 150 rounds per minute and instead shoot slower.

              I can pretty much say after playing this game since the dark below... scout rifles are boring imo. I never use them. Maybe once or twice in combined arms back in the day. Honestly don’t really care for them. Boring and uninteresting weapon type. I don’t really understand the whole range thing seeing as I’ve preferred CQC since the halo days. A handcannon is a more stylish scout with better damage. Nuff said.

            • The slower ones can three tap in PVP. The problem is there are not many maps that have long range lanes.

              • I completely agree with a PvE buff, but PvP, it’s not that they aren’t good, it’s that there aren’t enough maps made for them. The high impact frames 3 tap, and if the 2 tap, they’d be too good, and if they just make other scouts 3 tap, high impact scouts are useless.

              • Funny thing about Jade Rabbit is that in PvP, it's main perk never gets utilized. The only reason why it's even good in there is because of the stability and range that allow for successful long range head shots. Its what every legendary slow firing scout should be.

                • Larger maps (not combine arms mode big, but bigger, and more open) are what we need, more wide open sight lines and forced lanes with fewer points of cover, so that shotguns don’t just have the run of it so often. I think the focus should be put on editing existing maps to be more conducive to longer range fighting, while keeping lanes and bottlenecks in mind for new maps. A bit less freedom for the shotgunner or hand cannoneer to advance an occupied lane would create some more dynamic gameplay I think. Maintaining the effective range for hand cannons and shotguns should be a bit more risky if the lane is covered, while the more covered path should be more predictable that a shotgunner is rushing.

                    They need a damage buff... bungie screwed up with there ninja nerf of the scouts, and then the lame 15% damage buff.. It was not enough. They also need to make more models and archtypes for scouts, especially for the kinetic slot.

                    • I got 29 and 5 with the talons if the eagle last night. They are good in crucible but suck for pve.

                      • The 200 and 180 rpm scouts are very viable in the crucible as they do 4 tap. the problem is the majority of Maps are perfect for pulse rifles, and a tad too short for scouts. Will agree 100% they need a damage buff in PvE.

                      • Can we talk about polaris lance for a second? How the scout rifle nerf affected the perfect 5th perk? And how because of the damage loss farming the castellum for the catalyst no longer works. And getting the catalyst is the dumbest -blam!-in thing of all time?

                      • Totally agree man I used to love Polaris Lance and now it's getting totally outclassed by everything I would love to see ANY kind of buff to scouts. And to Anyone saying that they don't want to see Mida pussys out in the crucible. like back then, we had so little counters now there are bows, snipers, everything you need to counter them. I'm not asking for year 1 back I just want the weapons to be viable

                        • Some say its a legend, old guardian used them as tool of seeking greater justice and fortitude. Once a mythic weapon called MiDA.Multi Tool was used to defeat evil across the Galaxy now to be found in the memories of those of the old days guardion that fought the Darkness of Crota and Oryx (talking about D1 here). D2 scouts are overall crap and useless what you want is one of those go around the corner and blast everything shotgun. Got love having tons of weapon classes to use 2 maybe 3 XD

                          • they work kind of in a similar damage type to bows.......Oh I get it now. Seriously them constantly nerfing one type of weapon to favor others is just sad.

                          • On that mountain map on earth I'll use mida, but yeah, they suck. Scouts and snipers suffer from the small maps.
