Mod Component Economy

Leave it as it is, it’s fine

It’s not fine, make more ways of acquisition

I couldn’t care what they do, I don’t use mods

To get to the point quick, it sucks from how I see it. The only way to get mod components is to dismantle other mods, which you need mod components to acquire, or you get lucky with a legendary drop that already has a mod on it. I think making them a little more acquirable, like with Enhancement Cores now, it would help, because as of right now, the only sources are either lucky year 1 energy primary dismantles or dismantling mods themselves, which are rare enough as it is. While I do have quite a few mod components thanks to year 1, I know many others who are not so fortunate. Let me know on your opinions so I can see if I’m just crazy or have legit thoughts.
One last thing, if you agree with me give this an upvote, see if we can get this noticed
• Mod economy is a problem now. I suggest: 1. Decrease the cost of each mod from 10 to 5 mod components; 2. Increase the number of MC you gain from dismantling existing mods from 1 to 3; 3. Banshee should sell fixed as well as random mods (like it was in Y1); 4. Banshee should have an option to exchange weapon telemetry for mod components (like 10 telemetry for 1 mod component). As an alternative, you can buy resources from Spider for legendary shards, then exchange these resources for gear, dismantle it and gain enchnecement cores and mod components (if you are lucky enough).

I feel as if the next expansion will try to establish this issue. If not, Bungie just is mega slow when it comes to economy changes.

      • I play everyday, the last time I bought a mod was over two weeks ago, I appear to be stuck at nine. Then I have the absolute enjoyment of hoping there’s a mod worth having for sale. I have three classes, I predict it will take me 5 years to get a full set of mods for 3 classes. I also really enjoy how I can try mods out and swap them between classes without them being dismantled. After playing warframe, Destiny is the worst system I’ve experienced, even COD has a better system, and that’s saying something.

        • What's so bad about the mod component economy? At this rate my great grandchildren will inherit a tidy sum of 12 mod components by the year 2080. It's fine. Everything is fine.

        • They need a better way to get them. The only place I know are from dismantling the equipment from the planet vendors. They seem to drop more often at least

Pre-forsaken: Mods cost 3 comps a each Post-Forsaken: Mods cost 10 comps each Pre-forsaken: Mods brokedown into 2 comps Post-Forsaken: Mods breakdown into 1 comp Pre-Forsaken: Mods acquired by RNG Post-Forsaken: Unchanged The cost more than tripled. The return on Mod comps were reduced. All the while the method of procurement has remained unchanged, RNG. The current economy for mods is worse than enhancement cores. Bungie did not increase the grind, there was no grind to begin with. A grind is a reliable, repetitive and often tedious method of procurement of a resource that players want. All bungie did was increase the demand as the supply reduced. This is a horizontal progression that allows players to tweak Guardians once the 600 cap is reached. This is a system in which players cannot tap into and experiment with simply because there are not enough resources to experiment with. This is a level of depth that is absent for the endgame simply due to the economy. This needs to change. Bungie needs to substantially increase, if not guarantee the probability of mods on drops and package turn in. Allow the return on scrapped mods to increase to cost, or at least half of cost. Bring back Gunsmith bounties and have them reward mods flat out or reward comps at intervals of 2 or 5 depending on level of task difficulty.

Lucky for me I hoarded mod components from when glimmer was used to buy mods. Now I have around 50-60 mods plus 180 mod components. I tried to make everyone aware on here but that opportunity is long gone now Agreed the economy can improve. Or the costs should be reduced.

              • I am kind of those daily play destiny players the silly grinder type player and even I am basically flat broke in this game now. They have made serious mistakes and are not correcting anything.

              • Mod components are scarce at the moment and buying mods is costly. I’d argue that both those things are fine as they are but I’d like to see ways to grind for actual mods instead of the components. I think it’d be more fun to have an activity or bounty reward a mod and wanting to see what it is rather than having it reward a component so you can wait and buy one that suits you in the tower. This way you could get lucky and get a mod you’d want and actually use but if not you can still break it down for the component.

I found out earlier, there are blue guns tgat can give mod components, idk all of them but one is an auto rifle called yellowjacket-au3 or something, put all your secondary weapons in vault collect as many of the gun as you can from collections. It works but drains glimmer and weapon parts
