Best Regions to Explore in The Witcher 3

Novigrad (The Big City)

1

Velen (The War Ravaged Land)

1

Skellige (Island of Vikings and Snow Mountains)

16

Toussaint (A Fantasy Palace full of mythical beings and fairy tales)

24

Kaer Morhen (Giant Castle built by Witchers for the school of the wolf)

1

White Orchid (Village enriched with fruits and plants but torn down by War)

0

Vizima (Kingdom of the Nilfgaardians)

I personally gotta go with Toussaint from Blood and Wine. The colour pallets, the landscape, the soundtrack and characters just stood out from the rest. Skellige would be a close second.

  • I'd have to agree with you. Toussaint is my favorite, but from the base game, my favorite is Skellige. I love the soundtrack for Skellige, plus it stands out the most with it's rocky/snowy landscape and sirens flying around

Novigrad is my favorite. It is the only fantasy city I've seen in a game that is actually big enough to be a city, unlike the fortified villages in most other games. Toussaint was oppressively vibrant. Seriously, it hurt my eyes when I travelled through the countryside at day

    • Toussaint. If I could wipe my memory and play the whole game again.

      • Out of the 3 times I started that game I ended up quitting before going to skellige. Never played either dlc. I just keep trying to finish everything and it takes so long and I get too bored. Played and beat it once, was going to do new game plus but I didn't have internet at the time and it couldn't update. One day I'll return to it and try the dlc. I was just slightly disappointed with exploration. The best weapons you can make, everything else you find while exploring is pretty much useless.

I seem to be the only one of my friends who enjoyed Skellige. With that said, Novigrad is the best area in the game. Not only are they the best quests, but it's so well designed. A brothel by the docks, you get mugged in the poorer districts, and so many more details. Speaking of quests, they're thematically distinct between districts. The Bits has more violent and confrontational quests, whereas the richer parts are more backstabbing, a merry afternoon at the races, or trivial things being blown out of proportion. My only fault with the place is that the water in the river is crystal clear when it should be full of shit.

          • Skellige. I just love settings like that in a game.
Plus, whenever I get to Novigrad, it just feels like such a drag until I get to Skellige.
