Destiny 3 Has to Have Dedicated Servers
I’m posting this because I genuinely feel like I’m losing my mind playing comp. I just played a guy that was literally faster than any human being could react to. Like it was obvious this person’s console was receiving data faster than everyone else’s in the lobby.
Now I consider myself a fairly competent player. Before going and murdering my k/d for this Luna’s Howl quest I averaged around a 2.0 eff. But since I have been in comp boy oh boy the shenanigans I have seen.
Hunters have moon bounced and disappeared into orbit on Stomp33s, my shotgun will literally miss someone entirely at point blank range while simultaneously letting them kill me an instant later, my guns have stopped shooting as I’m pulling the trigger mid gunfight, unloaded Trust in faces only to watch them die a full 2 seconds later, the list goes on and on.
I say all that to say this. Bungie I swear to God on everything I love I’m not purchasing another Destiny game after this if it doesn’t have dedicated servers. I can’t... I -blam!-ing can’t do this again. I love this game. I love feeling like a space badass, but after playing Destiny since year one I still have no clue how truly good I am at this game. When I lose I’m not sure if it’s because I’m bad. And when I win I’m not sure it’s because I’m good. An individual’s connection to the host can completely alter a match that much.
I don’t have this problem in other games I know exactly how good I am in Overwatch. I know exactly how bad I am at twitchy shooters like Titanfall. You guys tried to make PvP into Overwatch, but missed because the game will never be taken seriously as an esport without having rock solid connections. Weapon and class balance not withstanding.
I know my little $60 bucks might not move the needle but I’m sure there are countless other players that feel the exact same way.

4 RepliesYour fundamental mistake is thinking that Destiny Crucible is competitive.. It's not. If you want to play a competitive shooter you are going to need to pick up Overwatch, Siege, COD, CSGO or Halo.. You can't expect a game like destiny with 30 fps, narrow FOV, terrible netcode, no dedicated servers, terrible sound engine, total lack of PvP balance in weapons or classes, and general lack of give a shit from the developer to be a good competitive experience. Crucible can be fun, but competitive? No.

7 RepliesI hope this franchise will never get into e-sports. So far, all e-sports related changes were destructive for Crucible fun. Also, what you want is lag-free experience. It is NOT dedicated servers. Bungie could take existing part of server code running on a leader's console / PC and then run it on their existing game physics servers. Do you really think this action will magically whisk the lag away? It will not. Comparison to other games in terms of connection proves only that lag free gaming is possible. But to achieve it you have to do a lot more to networking part of the game than just running everything on a server.

1 ReplyI'm not the only one then thank F. I'm sick of seeing peoples health drop after I'm dead too. Or melee you get 1 punched while it take 3 or 4 to get them. Same shotgun they hit a mile away while same distance their shield slightly drops. Just examples. Then other players say just get good, wtf! Get good internet,?I'm running ultra fibre got good router too. So I too am a player that plays for bounties only. I get most near death then someone else get kill to brag about I just laugh.

7 RepliesDestiny 2 Actually does have dedicated servers... On Bungie's Ideal version of the game, the South Korean version. That version also lets you pay real money to get forsaken exotics....

I really wish they wouldn't even make a D3 but they likely will... I'm tired of the cycle. I just want great new expansions that actually have huge weight in the universe every time. Not just small sidestorys every once in a while . I mean even Forsaken isn't huge. The real main story was we find Mara alive, kill Riven, and fall into Savathun's time loop trap that will help her become more powerful for her inevitable attack most likely in a year... so we most likely won't have a huge significant event for another year...Caydes death is whatever. At best it might push us to find Deep Stone crypt in one of the smaller DLCs with the annual pass. Maybe learn one more Rasputin fact in the process.

Destiny an esport when the game is planned to be recycled every 2-3 years. That's hilarious tell me another joke. Even if it does it'll be like Halo or COD that never see the big stage or the big $$$ that activision wants. To give CoD some slack at least though Treyarch is trying to make their game esports ready without sacrificing the core of the game. Something Bungie should've thought about before they gave us D2Y1.

D3 will have 2 weapons per type without randoms rolls Than they will make 2 shitty expansions for 40$. After taking all the money they will make another dlc for 70$ and put the game fo free on the psn

Overwarch was the best $30 i ever spent. 60 fps, dedicated servers and constant free of charge updates. I have 90% of the cosmestics in that game without ever buying a loot box.

I keep getting thrown out of gambit games,because according to Bungie I have no internet connection . At the same time I go out on Bungies website on my iPad. This is just ridiculous Bungie!!!
