Repeat exotics are killing my motivation to play the game
Every time you get one its like punch in the gut. Games are not supposed to feel bad. Don't respond with they said they would fix it. There are TWAB's that date back to 2017 talking about fixing duplicate protection. The worst is having your raid drop be a repeat exotic, now you get robbed of a raid drop and have a worthless item. You can't even infuse cause the system is also broken. I feel like Bungie once again knocked out the first month and left a clusterf$% for the endgame.

I appreciate all the support and people sharing there stories of why this sucks. When asked why exotics are important this was my response :
Exotics literally change the way you play. If you have the Hunter guantlets that give super energy when used blade barrage that would dramatically change the way you play. the same for Phoenix protocol if you play the new subclass. If i am 600 and have beaten the raid, do you think that i might be a bit bored with the current ways i have to play. Each new super(most not all) have an exotic tied to maximize its play style. I can't experience that cause every time an opportunity drops is just and old exotic. Thus locking me out of the new experience. I'm 100% ok with exotic item drop rate i'm not ok with the 99% repeat exotic drop rate.

3 RepliesYeah, I'm kinda over it. Tired of doing activities I don't like for the tiniest chance at something super rare, only to get a super rare drop, and have it be garbage I already have. The grind to 600 sucked, but at least it felt like an attainable goal, and for the most part you could make progress every day. Now that we're there, there's just no motivation to keep doing all the same crap. Exotics don't feel attainable, they feel completely out of reach, hidden behind atrocious RNG and duplicates.

2 RepliesDon’t worry bucko, they’re adjusting the exotic repeat rates, and if you’re bored after 600, do what I did and start working on a seal for a trophy or get a Luna’s bowl/not forgotten

I finally, after about 10 old exotics, got Trinity Goul. Something ill never use. Oh well, i have to have it for the exotics badge right?

It's ironic. When I had all the exotic drops prior to Forsaken, I've read about a few fixes about duplicates and was like "meh don't need that I have everything anyway". Now in Forsaken I keep getting Two-Tailed Fox and pre-Forsaken exotics I already have. What about those fixes? 🤔 I get quite a few exotics per week, so it's not that "extremely rare" for me. I even got a Coldheart out of a regular EDZ chest. But seeing an exotic I already have in 90% of the cases = FeelsBadMan

I'vee been gotten 2 exotic armour pieces, and no new exotic weapons apart from the quest ones. I've actually had a decent amount of exotics drop but nearly all were year 1. Fix repeats Bunhie plz

Thing is, it’s working for some and not for others. And that is what xur is for, he is the chosen one. He who brings balance to the rng. Except Bungie have neutered him.

Your edit is one of the main reasons I stopped playing. I’m not a full time gamer so I’m sure I’m casual by most standards around here. But the changes to how you get more power and weapons with forsaken feel like banging your head against a wall. They had it right with Warmind. I played pretty much everyday during that time. It took two weeks for me and my son both to lose interest w Forsaken.

Just had an exotic drop in a lost sector. Stared at it for 50 seconds before picking it up dreading something I already have. Got crimson...again. I have all non forsaken exotics. Have gotten 8 exotic drops since forsaken...0-1 forsaken exotics...it’s -blam!-ing depressing

1 ReplyI was pretty hyped when my first exotic drop in Forsaken was the Queenbreaker, not so much anymore though as every weapon drop I've had since has been Coldheart or Sweet Business for the past 3 weeks. I have had 3 pieces of new armor, 1 on my hunter and 2 on my warlock but a big fat ZERO on my titan, I can'y really complain on that front but from the first time I saw gameplay footage of the Trinity Ghoul it's been high on my want list, Ive seen it drop for clan mates and randoms 12 or 13 times when all I'm getting is the same 2 weapons over and over, I honestly believe it's something other than RNG when this is happening. It's frustrating as hell, and don't even get me started on repeat eververse drops, I know it's not all that important but getting the same ghost over and over is annoying.

ive noticed the loot table seems to change each week for me third week (first full curse week) i got probably about 15 duplicate exotic drops nothing much before or after that as well as no prime engram drops now im back to getting prime engram drops and edge transits. ive only had the gwisn vest or whatever its called drop so far for y2 exotics and i dont even play that subclass much on my hunter my only worry with trinity ghoul is draw time wishender its absolutely worthless cause draw time alone and true site range or detection not working great as is i have a masterworked arsenic with draw time and rampage+explosive head doing 20k+ each hit not including explosive damage wishender falls about 10k short of that on stationary targets the damage isnt bugged on yes it can penetrate and hit multiple targets but so does explosive head. Its use just isnt practical enough to justify an exotic slot and yet its one of the hardest quests/missions in the game for an exotic and its one of the worst ive played with so far its been in my vault since about an hour after getting it tried it in cruci once but it was terrible not always detecting enemies small area of detection plus draw time and being a kinetic damage drop off at range tldr ive been waiting to get trinity ghoul as well but im more worried it will be a massive disappointment when i do get it like the wish ender was

I've gotten a new Titan piece, and I think a new hunter piece. No new weapons period. I for one have had it. I don't play as much as I used to, and am counting the days when Red Dead 2 drops. Bungie is run by a bunch of micro managing Democrats imho. Don't worry, the door will not touch me on the way out...
