As topic says....
I die from it as much as I kill with it.
Just deal with it and join in. It’s super fun
Have people thought of tracking rockets? They are fire and forget in the right hands.
As a matter of interest, is it solo players who want the nerf more so than team players
If it is to get a nerf or “changes” guardians will just find another weapon to use, and that’s when the cycle will start, and then where will it end.

Edit:
This is how it all started back in D1...
Don’t let it happen again
Edit 2:
Great comments guys for and against, remember it’s the best gun for dps from range, just so happens it’s good for the pvp aspect as well.
Edit 3:
Let’s hope bungie get this right, I mean nerf it for pvp but don’t take away one of the best heavy weapons in the game in pve.
Edit 4:
So bungie tweeted about the sandbox team looking in to POSSIBLE changes.
Had some suggestions from you guys.
Change the heavy ammo economy for gambit, maybe one heavy drop per round.
Only allow heavy to drop when the primeval spawns in.
Have heavy ammo taken away when you invade.
Over 500 upvotes wow guys this is great.
Great discussion, people do have some good points for the pros and cons of the sleeper

Edited by reegeee: 9/18/2018 4:22:05 PMIt does need to be rebalanced technically, but I still agree with the OP. Let's not go down this road again. The only thing that I would agree with nerf wise would be a change to ammo - in gambit only

13 RepliesEdited by Bieltan: 9/18/2018 4:31:32 PMOver 600 upvotes compared to whatever downvotes the vocal minority can muster Lol Bungie, you're going against the wishes of a larger part of your community here - tread carefully. Nerfherders are why your game almost bombed, never forget that. EDIT - 700 now. Lol some more.

I think it should be possible to address in the Gambit playlist only leaving it the same in other modes of play. It needs to be dealt with in gambit though. I use it and abuse it so I am sure that it does need to be tweaked there. It sucks to see so many people deny it has a problem because: 1) they think it’s fine, which is a bad assessment. 2) they don’t want it to change because they are abusing it. 3) they don’t want any guns to be changed because they are scared of nerfs even though D2 has been pretty nerf free. 4) they have an irrational hatred of players who have negative feedback of any kind (Which by the way sleeper is OP in Gambit isn’t even negative feedback) so they will apply that basis to every discussion.

1 ReplySleeper can be dealt with fairly easily, you don't need some fancy other weapons or nerf, all people need it to try and stop playing like solo Rambos on a team oriented activity, remember their jobs either as invaders or defenders, its all about making the other waste their time. Want a good working anti sleeper recipe as a defender, even for a piss pour PvPr like myself? 1, don't hide, go after them, (if nothing else you point them out for the rest of the team, remember, in ganbit what matters is the wasted time not the kills) 2, one bait, one tracking rocket. True, ideally bungie would make some sort of separation in their balances between PvE modes and modes that involve PvP, but anyone that is even remotely familiar with bungie and destiny knows that to bungie doing that may as well be the sacrilege of sacrificing a virgin child to summon the devil.

9 RepliesEdited by Shatterday: 9/18/2018 4:15:11 PMPeople aren't realizing that if you nerf Sleeper, you have to nerf all Linear Fusion Rifles. What makes Sleeper the best, is that it's 1 shot. If it isn't 1 shot, it'll be on the same page as the rest of the Linear Fusion, therefore you are making the Sleeper, or Linear Fusion obsolete.
-
The ones that complain don’t have the sleeper it self. Smh. Jealous people. Smh. Upvote if you agree
-
Gambit. Proof again of the sickness that PVP brings to the game even when it is in small doses.
-
6 RepliesIf they want to do anything. Disable heavy for invaders. That seems to be the biggest issue with it all. Make invaders need to use a super or sniper headshots to be wiping teams. Sleeper is great for killing people and bosses. But killing ads with a sniper is more difficult. So make people make the choice. This way you can still use the sleeper for dps on bosses but if you want to invade you can’t use the heavy and have to gun/super to wipe a team. Problem solved but does make the invaders less important probably because they can only kill 1-2 this way (sans super) rather than team wipe.
-
I see where people are coming from with wanting it needed, but it's definitely not as big of a deal as they make it out to be. There are ways to counter sleeper. But whatever, nerf fusion rifles amirite?
-
I agree. No nerf to Sleeper.
-
They're not going to leave it alone. Also, these posts never work, stop attention seeking.
-
Just put a big fat red laser beam while charging pointing to the direction where it's about to shoot That way people will know what direction it's coming from with ease.
-
While it is fun, let’s not pretend that it is far stronger than a gun should be if players want a good variety of viable options. Also, I’d love a nerf just so people actually use their supers when invading and I can get some progress in that triumph.
-
6 RepliesUm I’ve seen people’s opinion on the sleeper nerf... but I hosestly think that it should be nerfed, and here’s why: Changing the heavy ammo drop rate is complete crap, when it’s already low enough. When I play gambit, the drop rate for heavy is almost 0. So In some matches I don’t even get to use my sleeper at all :/ Also I’ve seen how people tell you to hide... I try, but it only results in being rushed and killed by
a shotgun
If you guys think it shouldn’t be nerfed, then I guess that’s fine.... I should probably play more full fire team anyways
hope y’all have a good day
-
Remove player icons and sleeper doesn't need a nerf. But let's not pretend it's not unbalanced as is, it's a 1hk from any range without travel time and you don't need crit while having an overshield and knowing exactly where the enemy is. In gambit it is broken
-
This whole argument is stupid. If I have to deal with pvp elements in my pve, then pvp players have to deal with pve elements as well. Sleeper has always been a body shot OHK. And it was never a problem. It's only a problem now because pve players have it, with the catalyst, and Gambit has a "better" ammo economy than normal pvp. This is a huge slippery slope and I can't believe people are trying to shove us back down it.
-
1 ReplyAll they have to do is tone down the aim assist in the gun; that will lessen the possibility of BS shots while retaining its purpose as a DPS weapon.
-
Honestly just disable heavy weapons in pvp in general. Sick of getting noob tubed like it’s MW2.
-
1 ReplyI say take away heavy on invasion
-
Nerf this piece of shit so I can stop using it already
-
I see some people like playing gambit on recruit difficulty.
-
Currently you get 5 ammo for sleeper from a power brick. Should be 1 or 2 in gambit only.
-
Heres a solution, remove the over shield on the invader, then more weapons will be viable. They are already able to see the defenders position, and get lost in the mass of adds on the radar, this way more weapons will be viable short and long range Leave sleeper alone, learn from history

Edited by Orobas Rex: 9/18/2018 3:42:37 PMI agree with what you said but if bungie feels they have to do something I wouldn’t be opposed to reducing the mag then masterwork would restore it
-
Not true, I play solo and I don't really care. It's sucks to get zapped from across the room but that's the same thing as a good sniper. they need to leave it alone, the watered down destiny 2 vanilla which was one size fits all was a direct result of the small, very vocal part of the community who yelled Nerf Nerf Nerf! Everytime there was a good weapon. Hell even now I haven't seen any amazing weapons be created they have made steps but I haven't seen a gjallarhorn in the wild. (I mean the strength not an actual Gjallarhorn)

Edited by TitanGear: 9/18/2018 3:36:31 PMThey have to cater to the PVP crybabies. It's Bungie Law. If there was NO PVP aspect to Gambit, it wouldn't be an issue that I can guarantee.
