Bungie needs to do something about Ddosing
They’ve improved competitive to a point where it is enjoyable to play. That means there will be more players playing the playlist. However, ddosing, one of the biggest issues ever since the start of destiny 1, still hasn’t been solved. Ddosing is gonna be worse than ever next season in competitive because there is no trials of the nine.
Bungie said they would ban players who ddos and have a “hybrid server system” that acts like dedicated servers. They don’t, pulling IPs is as easy as it has ever been. Free IP stresser websites have been appearing too allowing players to ddos and even other ways like opening Spotify can kick players out of games.
Any bungie employee who sees this, please make this your highest priority to fix. Simply getting dedicated servers fixes 90% of the issue when it comes to Ddosing.
Edit: Bungie has a very interesting TWAB that seems to target this very issue. Seems good steps so far but we’ll have to wait to see what actually happens and how it works first.

Keep in mind dos attacks dont go through bungies server. Its a direct attempt to access your ip and is something they wont see. Now if they can tell a person or group of players are repeatedly facing team where opponents get booted (easier to see in trials) then they may ban that whole group. Hence why some people get banned and didn't realize the people they play with are cheaters. You can try a Vpn or start reporting everybody to your isp. However keep in mind most isp will just note on your account that your upset with some random player in a video game and do nothing. The only thing bungie can do is go full throttle on dedicated servers but between cost and the most likely event of people will still complain its just not worth it.

My girl was playing comp last night and the router goes haywire and had to reset no internet for like 5 minutes lol. Her whole team went away 1 by 1 and they all had the same thing we did. It was a ddos and we reported the psn ids to playstation and I'm tempted to send to actual authorities because that's a federal crime.

DDOS and lag are two different things. You can’t control lag on the other persons end. Especially when there are no dedicated servers to iron out who is lagging or not Peer-peer game model sucks but Bungie not wanting to spend money on dedicated servers is their decision

12 RepliesI think you and a lot of other players are confusing ddos with lag switching and crappy internet connections. If you've been ddos'd you don't just get booted from the game, you lose your internet for awhile because your router needs to reset. What most players describe sounds like either lag switching or a bad internet connection. Also, if someone is not using a hard wired connection, they suck and deserve to get booted from every online game.

It’s unacceptable to allow comp points to be lost considering others are manipulating the network to cause a person to lose connection. On top of that if a player naturally lags out of a game it’s likely because of bungie a horrific decision to continue to have p2p connection. Bungie if you want crucible players to stop complaining just get dedicated servers we’ve been asking for it since d1

1 ReplyFirst of all, I agree those players need to be stopped, although it has never happened to me since D2 has released. Also,for those of you complaining about network connection kicking you out to orbit or the title screen, don’t assume it’s because of the hybrid weird Bungo servers. I haven’t been kicked from a game in months. Most of the time it might be your connection, or it might be because there is a lot of traffic in your area. It might be worth getting a wired connection.

3 RepliesEvery couple months they claim the ban hammer is being swung. It is really hard to believe them considering the amount of posts you see on dos/ddos. I really hope people who were doing this get there Redrix removed like they claim will happen. I also hope they take it from all those people who PAID for recovs plus all the assholes who posted ads on bnet everyday for the past month soliciting recovs.
