So i have broken this down by step, assuming that each steps progress will not be retroactive through prior steps (excluding rank gained) The premise behind this grind is that you can semi consistently land top 3 in rumble (which will be considered a win). Also, for some of the valor gained calculations i average out the minimum valor gained with 100% losses, and the maximum gained with 100% wins, and then add on a little bit assuming that above average players will win more often than not...
1- 200 pulse rifle kills... 6v6 is the place to go obviously... 15 games seems reasonable if you lose all of these games you will be at 150 valor, if you win them all you will be about 313 valor so lets use an average of about 230 valor
2- reach heroic..... PLAY RUMBLE, top 3 will count as a W which is really not that difficult, and rumble games can be extremely quick.... you will need another 120 valor which can be done with 7 straight top 3 finishes... you will be about 360 valor
3- 75 double plays,,, this one is a long one, for example mtashed is considered a top tier player and averages 1.3 double play medals per game.... the optimal playlist for this? MAYHEM!!! (also playing more aggressively in QP) In mayhem i would assume it would take 30 games? In QP i would say 70. Lets use 30 games, you will have gained between 300 valor and 1100 valor... lets use 800.. putting us at 1160 or Mythic rank
4- 150 precision pulse rifle final blows..... back to 6v6 obviously. 15-20 games seems reasonable.... thats another 170 to 495 valor gained... lets use 380 gained putting us at 1540 valor... still mythic
-50/50/50 elemental kills. in mayhem thats Like 10 games.... outside of mayhem? probably less than 15 games if you focus on energy weapons thats between 100 and 450 valor gained,, lets use 330 putting us at 1870 valor or legend rank
-25/25/25 matches..... there really is not a quick way to do this..... 75 matches completed is 75 matches lol 50 of these will grant valor... so you will be guaranteed to be at reset after this step... DONT RESET
-complete 20 bounties.... this step should take no time at all... hold on to all of the bounties up untill this step.... MAYBE 5 more games
-Reset valor 5 times.... if you want to power grind this i recommend RUMBLE. It should be relatively easy to maintain top 3 finishes,,,, and rumble games typically go quicker. So rumble will be a playlist where above average players can maintain streaks and power through the grind... Because you are already at reset you need to grind through 4 more resets.... which can be done with 320 STRAIGHT rumble top 3 finishes....which could take twice as long if you are 50/50 for getting a top 3 finish...
This totals out to 485 games played... assuming you manage to ALWAYS land in top 3 in a rumble match, and i would assume if you are 50/50 for getting into the top 3 in rumble this entire questline will take more along the lines of 800-900 games played...... IN ONE SEASON.
Now i average 9.9 minutes per match...(but rumble should be quicker)
So for good players who can ALWAYS manage a top 3 finish, this will take 80 HOURS of PvP
For the more average player this will take approximately 140-200 hrs of PvP and for the less crucible abled among us,,, i woud wager 250+ hrs....
This means that all of you CURRENT claymore owners,, who could potentially get a broadsword drop on day 1, are going to be at a huge advantage for quite a while.

2 Repliesyeah don't be dumb reset whenever possible it isn't reset 5 times t this step it is reset 5 times in . season....
-
If I get to the reset steps with my warlock. Can I switch to my titan yo reach fabled and still have it count for my lock?
-
Okay so if you have already reset your rank in season 4 before you get the step where it tell you to reset them does it still count? Or is it beyond the point when you abstain that part of the quest?
-
3 RepliesThey are unlocked retroactively not in order like typical quests. Houndish's video confirmed this.
-
2 RepliesI think it will be a lot quicker because I think you can do parts at the time , I don’t think it has to be 1, then 2 etc
-
2 RepliesBut all the steps have been confirmed to run concurrently lol

1 ReplyEven 30 hours would not be worth it for one gun.
-
1 ReplyThis guy -blam!-ing gets it. Kudos to the 0.5% who got claymore legit and a big middle finger go -blam!- yourself to the other 2% who cheated there ass off. Bungie are you able to do 2 claymore emblems? 1 that's legit and the other that says I cheated my ass off.
-
still would rather do this quest than get the redrix claymore but as someone put it still dont care for this weapon
-
2 RepliesYou know when I get my broadsword just for shits and giggles I'm going to post i earned my broadsword all you claymore owners got your free handout.
-
2 RepliesWhat you're saying is that steps 1-7 should occur naturally within the progress to step 8(assuming you're paying any attention to them at all). Step 8 is the real and only true grind. The "We don't want Crucible to feel like a part time job, so here's Crucible as a part time job". Double and triple Valor weekends should help with this, but still. I don't feel compelled to chase this thing whatsoever.

6 RepliesI played Rumble and I hated it. Couldn’t get a kill in edge wise.
-
Certainly not worth all that garbage PvP grind lol
-
Um, on the 20 Bounties... Am I missing something? Only allowed 5 Bounties a DAY per Character. So if someone only has one, that's 4 Days for the Quest step.. and I don't believe the quest carries thru all characters.. so you can't do 15 in one day....
-
2 RepliesTwo weeks. Tops.

5 RepliesNo piece of gear is worth that much time in my eyes, and no I did not get the claymore, I can't stand competitive. In regards to valor in quick play, Only reason I was able to get the exotic ghost shell with 2 resets is because of triple xp weekend (I hadn't even reset once untill the first bonus weekend). No way I'm investing that much time into crucible just to get 1 that I could honestly do fine without.
-
16 RepliesLets not forget as well, the people who do not have claymore now and want to get the Broadsword have to make a choice to either grind out for Broadsword and delay getting the Luna Howl, or go for the Luna Howl and maybe get the Broadsword at the end of the season. Its a massive time sink to get the Broadsword.

I guess it’s reasonable

2 RepliesEdited by Show me potato salad: 8/21/2018 6:10:48 PMThere's a huge flaw in your math.. All of the steps can be completed in tandem. This has been confirmed. You're not locked to one step, then the next.. For example, 50 arc final blows, you could use an arc pulse rifle while working on 200 pulse kills etc.
-
1 ReplyBungie confirmed in a tweet that all valor based steps will be tracked throughout the quest, so DO RESET.
-
Looks like i will be playing alot of rumble. Thanks for post.
-
4 RepliesI wouldn’t be too worried about a pulse rifle honestly. I’ll be back to using handcannons. 👌🏻
-
1 ReplyI'll have it done in a week. Those are zero effort requirements and will get done from me just playing.
-
I am looking forward to it!!!

1 ReplyI see that you said "DON'T RESET" but you can. If you reset your valor before reaching the "reset valor 5 times" step, it'll still count toward that goal :) so even if you reach reset you CAN reset.
