Competitive Matchmaking Change
Hey all, I have a quick update from the Crucible team

While we’re happy with the change to match players using Glory Rank we noticed that too often players were getting matched with opponents way out of band for their rank. In response to this, we’re rolling out changes to dramatically slow down how fast matchmaking expands the acceptable ranges of Glory Rank for opponents. This means finding matches may take longer but you’re more likely to find opponents of similar Glory Rank. These changes are live now. Thanks![/quote]

If you're waiting for the Ranks to "clear out" and the dust to settle to start playing Competitive, I wouldn't. Season 3 Ends the first week of Sept. So unless Bungie states otherwise, you've got around 45 days to finish ranking up if you haven't already.

In the event of a loss then no penalty/loss in points since they're at a disadvantage due to quitting
