I think it's bullshit. I don't care how hard of a challenge you make these things to complete, but locking a bunch of them behind the raid, and to a lesser extent nightfall is ridiculous.
Thanks again for screwing over solos.
And let me reiterate, I would take ANY ridiculous completion requirement so long as the act of getting the catalyst was available to all players. It's the drops that are the problem, not the fact that you need to do high level activities to complete.
**Edit**
To reiterate, again...
The problem is not that people need to do the raid or the night fall to complete quests or catalysts. The problem is forcing people to GRIND these activities(competitive PvP included) to GET them in the first place. That is bullshit. Make the completion requirements as hard as possible, hell make the drops for the weapons as hard as possible. But not the catalysts, that is just lazy.

3 RepliesConsidering I have the legend of Acrius catalyst, the sleeper catalyst, the telesto catalyst and the sky burners Oath catalyst and mainly LFGing due to my clan not being on when I’m on makes me laugh when people complain about how they don’t do raids or someshit because they are SOLO players, personally I love destiny in that you can play with people from all over the world, playing alone would make this game boring and making it super easy to get catalysts would make it even more boring.Bungie thinks about the end game activities more due to people leaving because they get everything in a month or two since an expansion gets released. They hide things behind prestige’s to get people playing and grinding it’s not hard you’re just stubborn and can’t be bothered doing the Raids so why should people who actually do Raids not get rewarded for completing them. Just do the -blam!-ing Raids and endgame activities ffs

16 RepliesLol I'm not defending bungie, but the extent to which players cry is hilarious, OP, shut up, thanks if you dont want to do the raid then dont, everyone crying because every last detail of the game is how they want it, and as for the guy quoting "second tier bungie defense force" you cant even spell acrius, lmao so I didnt even read your post after that, your stating your opinion on the catalyst of a gun you dont even know its spelt, that means you've obvs never seen it, which says alot
-
31 RepliesAs usual the second tier Bungie Defence Force have turned up without actually understanding the argument they are trying to defend Bungie against. First of all the OP is at least partially correct. It's fine for the Akrius or is it Akris?!! to have it's catalyst found in raids but, it's not ok for weapons that can be found out in the game world to require players to then complete PRESTIGE raids to get their catalysts. Examples being the Sleeper Simulant. A gun that is part of the warmind base story yet will require players to do the hardest prestige raid content to get a catalyst drop for it. That doesn't make any sense no matter how you slice it. It should drop from an activity RELATED to where you got it i.e Escalation Protocol. Similarly the Skybunrners catalyst drops from doing prestige Leviathan yet that gun is related to the red legion and so should have dropped from red legion on earth. From the list of new catalysts that have been dug up. The OP has a very valid argument that all Bungie have done is make it virtually impossible for solo players to get any of these catalysts. Forcing players into the raids when they have no interest in them and will have zero clue how to do them. Is a very bad idea. You just have to look at LFG to know that these players will have little to no chance to even join a group doing the raid let alone grind the prestige raid and raid layers enough to get a catalyst to drop! Perhaps thinking before trying to shoot down a legitimate worry from a fellow player would have been the wiser thing to do BDF. The aim is to make the game better not restrict the player base to even fewer players then it has now through toxic and misguided elitism!

11 RepliesSnowflake alert! Love these people who don't want to do all the content in a game, but expect to still get everything xD Probably the same in life. It's always about you.....
-
1 ReplyThey aren't even that good additions to exotics tbh. No one should care.
-
3 RepliesI used to LFG on the reg. I friended a lot of the people that I played with and now have regular raid teams. If you don’t look for a team then how are you going to find one?
-
1 ReplyI find it illogical for the Sleeper's catalyst to be locked behind the raid. It would make far more sense for it to be a drop from EP.
-
4 RepliesAccept it... in a loot based game... if you don't do all activities... you don't get all rewards. you must learn to accept this.
-
1 ReplyIt’s a multiplayer game
-
5 RepliesYes how dare they force people to play the ENTIRE game they paid for. Wtf is bungie thinking
-
9 RepliesBungie is not forcing anyone to do anything. Stop the whining and begging for participation trophies. If YOU choose to not do an activity in a game that is available to you. Thats your problem, dont blame others or Bungie for YOUR decision!!!
-
If you decide not to play a certain part of the game you cant demand to get everything .... easy as that
-
3 RepliesKeep it simple, let Xur sell catalysts after Forsaken drops.
-
12 RepliesSo would you like them to just hand you the catalyst for logging on then? You don't get rewarded for things you did not earn.
-
anything easily achieved isnt worth achieving. Why dont you go out and buy a ferrari and a nice house..... oh its too hard right....only some people can work that hard. its not fair to everyone else..... there are BAZILLIANS of games that have hard stuff. most games cant be completed in hardest mode by most people to achieve top honors or recognition. catalysts are bull..... they dont change the weapon drastically. if you want something REALLY nice you gotta WORK FOR IT. man the front door up kid
-
Oh well
-
53 Repliesdestiny is not a solo game. get over it. there should be rewards for the difficult group content and i dont want to see that go because you're too shy to use a mic.
-
19 Repliesyou know isn't a singleplayer game right
-
2 Repliesyou know what though, if you want it that bad, go out there and DO something to get it I'm glad they are doing this, thats exactly how it should be you have access to a weapon, you want to improve it with a Catalyst? here's what you have to do OR just enjoy it without catalyst, still great, powerful weapons

10 RepliesWhy do you even want to be a solo player? Why even play a game like Destiny solo? It’s so heavily multiplayer based and most of the appeal comes from teamwork and shit. I’m not trying to talk shit, it’s just why would anyone wanna be a solo player in this franchise by any means? It’s a vast multiplayer game. Not a single player story based one.
-
you should be more pissed that it doesnt drop upon completion...
-
8 RepliesComplaining about multiplayer requirements in a multiplayer game. Priceless. Look, I have 1 or 2 people left in my clan at any given moment that play this game. That is not enough to do a raid without LFG, and most of the time I am using guided games for the nightfall. I am, for all intents and purposes, a solo player. If I want to do a raid, I will o find a fireteam looking for a fresh run. Your refusal to use the tools available to you in order to get sh*t done is not Bungie or anyone's fault: it is yours.
-
But but, Luke said...
"this is a friends game"
You do relaize that this was Lukes vision of Destiny and he is working on destrying D3 right now? lol...
-
3 RepliesThis is what people wanted, a grind. If you don’t want to grind why do you even play this game
-
9 RepliesThey are available to all players, you just need to grind A LOT to get them. You have the guns already, making them better is an optional bonus. Because they are hard to get, you are forced to choose which ones you want and focus on them. Either invest countless hours getting them all, or pick your favorites. Either way, it's still possible, just not realistic. RNG Catalysts right now could use an increase in their drop rates, but overall I disagree with making them easier to get. D2 has no grind; nothing to strive for. The catalysts provide that to some small degree. If you want a specific catalyst that bad, participate in the endgame. If not, then don't. Simple as that.

6 RepliesAs a solo player I can't agree. Destiny 2 launched terribly for lots of reasons. One of the main ones being everything was available to everyone. There needs to be exclusive content to specific activites. It's not like any of the raid specific catalysts are a big deal. bigger mag on telesto? please. faster reload on the exotic shotgun? You don't have it anyway. faster charge time on sleeper? big deal. Nightfalls are soloable.
