Bungie hires Myelin Games
So Myelin just posted a video about Bungie hiring him for a project. Are we getting the community Loremaster to officially oversee and reconcile the lore of Destiny?
Time will tell.

Not to mention the crutch that kept Anonpig going. I'm sure he is a great guy and will probably do cool things, but I really do not like his position as an authority on lore. Though maybe he has improved since D1.

Bungie has opened the door to improving the game for those of us who care about story and lore. Let's hope they listen to Matt's ideas and really make use of his talent. Matt, as I told you last night, you earned this, my friend, Congratulations. The clan is proud of you, and hopefully, the entire community will see this as a major step in the right direction. Bravo Matt, and thank you Bungie for hiring him.

From now on, every lore related thing that comes from his channel should be heavily scrutinized and examined. Since he now has a direct source of the lore and where it's headed, everything he says might not just be guesswork.

1 ReplyIf that’s true, then they just gave him a huge boost in monetizing his channel, long term. Short term, he’ll be under NDA, but once those drop...While his competition will have to speculate about what details in the lore mean, he’ll be able to provide a ‘from the desk of the creative team’ view into exactly what was intended. There will be no reason to go anywhere else.

1 ReplyEven If he's just the designate fact checker and makes sure the lore stops contradicting things. Either way, this is an apparent improvement and a good sign for the lore and story. Pray these nonsensical comics that get swaths of the lore wrong either get their needed lore edits or change to actual Lore cinematics that show or explain the stories that flesh out the backstory of the game and items in it.

There’s named hive left and right and have no backstory behind them yeah I collected ghost and enjoyed the stories behind them sure you added lore tabs but without any enemy lore tab collections all you did was find half of my ghost for me...

1 ReplyDefinitely a nice surprise to see, I guess his lore questionnaire for the summit must've impressed them all. Or they just wanted a loremaster to stop Byf's overly long critique videos (I like him, but god does he go on a bit sometimes)

3 RepliesHe says he got "contracted to do some work for Bungie" and that it will not involve him moving from Australia. To me, this precludes any work on Destiny, at least on anything core, like narrative or lore. Narrative would mean he'd be involved in meetings with other narrative teams, and even Lore would have him working with other departments, making sure lore tabs and flavor text blurbs are consistent. It's a lot of inter-personal interactions, which his location in Autstralia makes very difficult. He also calls is "the Bungie project" a couple of times. Since he's a contractor, rather than a full-time employee, it's more likely he's been hired to help work on something smaller, something that once he's done it'll be finished and they wont need him anymore. I'm just speculating, but I think it's more likely he's been brought in to help work on something like a codex. He'll help them design the system: how you collect lore, how it's stored in the codex, how it's accessed, etc... This would tie in nicely to the updates the fall expansion is bringing. But overall, I think it unlikely that he's working on anything destiny related at all. More than likely he's been brought in to help with whatever new IP Bungie's creating for their new Chinese project.

He’s a great guy, he presents everything clearly and without pretensions. Definitely a deserving person. His background in occupational therapy will also be super useful at bungie....must be stressful there atm.

I'm just thinking this We asked Bungie a long time ago that we wanted in-game lore. So what do they do? Completley remove it.
