No matchmaking for this makes it ridiculous. Its not the level of difficulty...its that theres no one around to complete this event.
Why is it that the vocal players can see this and the developers of the game cannot?
*ive completed it 29 times and received every weapon. (Sry 100 times and nothing guy lol) But having to scavange lfg to find a server full of over powered people is just ridiculous. MM has been in the game since the game was a game and theres no reason we cant be matched with players of equal power level. I think they set the algorithm for MM to be intentionally annoying for reasons.

12 RepliesEdited by Jota2112: 6/4/2018 6:55:11 PMThe other thing about it is people forming a group of friends then asking or telling everyone else to get out of the instance because it's full. This is happening way too often. I paid for this game same as everyone else and I don't expect to be hounded out of instance after instance, night after night because some people want to do something as a group. What should happen is the group should be able to make their own instance to do this Escalation Protocol. I've had people get me to invite a load of their friends to a strike team then they ask you to leave because they have someone else who needs into the instance. Or you get a load of them coming into the instance you're already in, they want to do escalation with 8 people then you're badgered to leave up to and including mass reporting you for griefing them because you wont make way for someone else. I was in the instance 1st, beat it and find another one. I'm not being chased from instance to instance to satisfy someone's sense of entitlement.

3 RepliesEP should have been a Mars World event that players of all light levels could do and would be a massive fight that would get more difficult the more players joined in. Like World bosses in WoW. 40 players attack a world boss and now he has over a billion hit points and his resistence is through the roof. Granted the WoW players still drop them like punks but hey, its a World boss. Ep is world content that they tried to make high level content in a world space. What were these people thinking? They should have made it based on the idea that if someone activates the event all the players in the surrounding area will want in on it. Instead they made it for a 385 PL fireteam and made it so it would take hours to do.. These Devs are clueless.

Notice a ton of the replies talk about the streamers..... The real game players are starting to get a clue that they might want some new representation LOL.

Edited by RavenousLD3341: 6/4/2018 12:45:35 PMAre the streamers complaining yet? if answer is no break elif answer is yes do something about it.
Escalation Protocol: Is Bungie Clueless?
The answer is yes, they are. They are "clueless" about a lot more than Escalation Protocol. Look back on this game since launch and your proof is there.

I do agree that there should be matchmaking and an instance just to do EP. You can have tough end game activities with matchmaking, look at FFXIV's 24 man raids.
-
Buy the expansion, everything will be fixed in Sep.
-
14 RepliesBecause Bungie is stinging you along until the next DLC.
-
10 RepliesIt's only for streamers who spend an hour getting 9 people into it. Typical Bungle.
-
21 RepliesSame thing happened with Court and Prison although they were a lot easier. Putting it in a public space is dumb. Remember the roaming bounties from House of Wolves that instakilled anyone below level? They took them out, but it's OK to have level 400 enemies (yes I know it's lower now) in a public space with a recommended power level of 300?
-
Edited by Dominator of Oats: 6/5/2018 3:23:49 PMThe biggest problem I have with escalation protocol is that it doesn't actually escalate. If they made every level 10 points higher in power starting from 340 when you finish the campaign you might actually feel like there is progress. Give a box at each boss kill and cap them at the power level of the next level so that people can do the next level. Doing these with blue gear just because that's what you've got might actually be hard but also fun, playing with junk cause you're just out of shards from infusing. That's how people feel like they are progressing and grinding, having to work back to a point of legendary gear on all slots. Or if you're rich on shards, you finally have something to spend them on! My wife was excited that they brought a horde mode back because she's just not that into strikes, she likes court of oryx and the forge and doing missions together with me, but she finished the campaign and was like, I have to do public events and strikes and crucible now to even play this? Why? She's right: why? She quit and hasn't touched the game since the campaign. She just doesn't care. Why should I care? I keep playing because my friends do but I even ignore my milestones now because what's the point? I don't even really care. If all they want me to do is play the same old stuff, fine, I will, and I'll play what I feel up to at the time.

7 RepliesOne of the telling things I've noticed about Warmind/Mars is how empty it is when I drop there. I've never seen a map so devoid of people this soon after a DLC drops. In D1, for many weeks after a DLC dropped, there would always be maps full of people running around when I would drop into it. All too often when I arrive on Warmind's Mars, I'm the only person there. Very few people seem to be interested in it and the EP activity or reward pool. I've only gotten through the EP because I stumbled on a group trying to get nine players together. That was totally by chance. This may be anecdotal but that tells me that Warmind/EP, for whatever reason, has failed. Big time. Given that there are some pretty good rewards available from EP, that shouldn't be the case. I've got the shotgun and it's truly a monster worth grinding for but Bungie has structured the Mars map and EP in such a way that players seem to figure that completing the EP and getting the rewards is almost hopeless, so why bother?
-
1 ReplyThe problem is very simple to figure out, imho. Escalation Protocol was introduced as a "New End Game Activity". However, it is not. It's very simple to notice that EP has never been intended as an "Activity". It is just a Public Event (an unique PE for Mars as the one on Mercury with the Time Conflux thing there) slighty modified in order to seem something else. I suppose it was a PE based on the Horde Mode then they just modified it as we know it. And that's why there are so many problems with it. For example, it can be launched anytime as an Activity, however, it is not an isolated Activity for the Fireteam team that launchs it 'cos it is set in a Public Space and is organized as Public Event ('cos IT IS A PE!). The weird nature of the EP is the reason why there are so many problems with it...
-
The issue is that it is in a public space not its own designated location. if this was in its own location then you know the players in the location are going to do it. in a public space you can start it and some players willl run off do other things while others might stay it should have been developed with archons forge in mind
-
jesus christ, I'll say this again. EP Is meant to be a 3 person event at max light levels. Just like the nightfall.
-
1 ReplyIt's designed for 3 man FTs!!! Why can't you people grasp that?
-
You have a mistake in your title. It should read. EP: Is bungo still clueless?
-
11 RepliesThey managed to make the world's first private public event.
-
6 RepliesI think the issue here is the locations. It's a public space that is used as access for anything. With the court of Oryx and the archon forge the went there to do that activity. If people were there, they would usually be wanting to do that activity. You can spawn in a lobby with 5 other people in the area and start the escalation protocol and no one will join in because that's not what they're there for. This is why there's so many lfg posts for it. Frankly I'd personally feel pathetic using lfg to do a public event, but if i want the gear then that seems to be the only way.
-
28 Replies"Is Bungie Clueless?" bungie: EP is meant to be approached by 3 max level guardians, with others being able to join in as a bonus. "But having to scavange lfg to find a server full of over powered people is just ridiculous." yes, it IS ridiculous... to blatantly ignore the devs own words in order to fit your complaint.
-
That's the thing people asked for a separate matchmaking system for events such as this since court of oryx
-
Just to clarify, you've completed the encounter fully 29 times and have all the gear, yet the system is broken?
-
2 RepliesHow about getting something more than 2 tokens after level 3 and 2 tokens after level 5. All that for 4 tokens.
-
7 RepliesI think the biggest thing to take away from ep this week is the fact that you literally fight a giant walking dick head in round 7. I am really surprised this hasn’t been mentioned anywhere. On mars last night a couple randoms started it up, me and the mrs join, more randoms appear and we breeze through the first 6 rounds with relative ease. It was the first time we had gotten past round 4, the hope and excitement kept building. We might actually just do this. Then round 7 started and it appeared. An ogre with a head that clearly showed he was Jewish. There was no denying the fact that I staring at a huge pork monster. Nearly 12 hours on and I still can’t believe what I saw. Bungie literally gave us a dick head to fight and nobody has mentioned it😳

For how much of a pain it is to set up, the drop rates are absolutely trash I have completed 50 so far not even 1 gun. I have seen players get all guns from as low as 4 runs and others get their first one at 60. There should be something in place to stop this from happening what happens if a player has to complete 200 before they get one gun and then another 100 before they get another just to have the same gun drop. These seem to be more rare than any exotic. You have something in place (apparently) for strike specific loot. But you expect players to put up with spending 90% of their week doing EP. All you have done is make artificial content by making the drop rates so low.
