Bungie, every class is supposed to have a fantasy and you created new abilities around those fantasies with D2. Titans got Barricade, warlocks got Rift, and hunters got dodge. These abilities have further defined the classes in D2 and furthered the role of each player in a fireteam. However, Titans team utility in Destiny 2 has been extremely lacking. The only good team ability they have is rally barricade and that’s now useless if teams are clustered together for DPS because a warlock can just pop a rift and everyone gets the Barricade ability without having to do anything.
If I need to go further into how Titans feel useless, let’s look at Sentinel. This has to be the most underutilized PvE super in the game. It doesn’t have the damage potential and add clear duality that other supers have since both others have and area of affect as well as a DoT ability.
I was a Ward of Dawn main in D1. The reason is because of the dual fantasy I had in that game. I wanted to be the front line juggernaut as well as the support player that provides benefits to my team. WOD gave me that. Weapons of Light was THE go-to perk for PvE. players could rally around that bubble and I loved it because I was supporting my team and I felt needed. Now you’ve given Weapons of Light to warlocks as a class ability that’ll charge way faster than WOD so even if you added it back into the game it still wouldn’t be utilized.
Bungie, something needs to be done to rebalance the classes. With the May 29th update you basically removed the one team utility that Titans have because you gave warlocks a pair of boots that are better. These boots don’t even belong in the game because they go against the power fantasy of the warlock. They should pop a rift for healing or damage but Titans need to have that frontline support role. Reloading guns actually works into their fantasy with the way Barricade works.
Since you can’t remove the boots I have 2 suggestions. 1, Undo the buff you gave those boots and rework them. Every ability in the game should have a cost. Barricades is that you have to pay attention to crouching and try not to shoot the Barricade instead, whereas with the boots all players have to do is stand there. 2, massively buff Barricade. Make it so that you don’t have to crouch to load the weapons. This puts it on equal footing with the boots but doesn’t require an exotic slot because it is part of he Titan fantasy. Also increase the length of the Barricade so players don’t have to crowd around it as much.
I love your game. It’s the one thing I always come back to at the end of the day. It’s ignited friendships and created a fun environment for all of us to hang out. As such I feel personally invested in seeing this game be successful. Part of that success comes with balance. I hope that something can be done to bring Titans back to the way they were in D1 and that D2 becomes even better for it.
Edit: it’s been confirmed that the boots apply the perk to all players not just the one guardian using them.
Edit 2: my point was that every class should have certain team utilities. Titan have 1 perk and that’s the reload. The Crest of Alpha Lupi that someone pointed out, only grants a small amount of health and doesn’t continually heal. Rally Barricade should be better than a warlocks perk no matter what just like how Healing rift is better than Crest of Alpha Lupi. The new hunter helm also fully heals the wearer when they dodge which is far better than Crest yet again.
Edit 3: balance doesn’t always mean what happened to D2. Balance can mean wild and crazy fun but each class has its advantages. With the Luna buff Titans because useless as a team player because the one thing they do that’s supposed to be wild and crazy fun for them is done better by a warlock now.
Edit 4: it was mentioned that you can combine class abilities so that if one ability runs out someone else can pop their ability. Most raid DPS phases last less than 30 seconds and both rift and Barricade last a long time. If you have more than 1 warlock the need for a barricade is even less needed.

4 RepliesLunafaction boots=exotic. Exotic armour perks should be better and more unique than any perk/ability in a skill tree. End of argument.

Titan grenade spam beats everything so stop your belly aching

Its almost like shields are going to sacrifice offensive ability for some defense.
-
You forgot vs 1 x reload hunters Hunters getting the shortest end of the stick again.

Agreed. When you add them all up the exotics for Titans are equal to suck. The helm that grants overshield upon super isn’t bad but it looks dumb as shit and doesn’t change much with shaders. You get focused fired in pvp when super is active so you might get one extra kill....might. On my other classes I rotate out exotics but my Titan pretty much keeps his Lion Rampants equipped.

Titans had their time to shine dude Let the masterrace take over

I think they just need to spice up titans more. Hunters have their things like invis or thrown melees. Warlocks can scarf down grenades or charge them up. Titans got a shoulder charge on all 3 classes That's basically it. The titans abilities are all generally the same, so you just have to always play the same way. Our grenades are near identical for each subclass. Our supers are really the only thing that separate the titans from the rest. And it's quite frankly all we've got. I've played titan since the beta and I've ever felt like titans were ever truly good. They feel like just the typical suicide soldier that becomes the "punch everything before I die" meme. They always feel like there's something off about them or that there isn't anything truly unique. All of our unique abilities are melee ones that are ineffective in both pve and PvP damage wise, but have nice side effects, which isn't a bad thing. Titans just need to feel more unique. Give us back our air dodge, give us back our weapons and blessings, and give us back our respect I thought they were giving the class at the start of year 2. The exotics just feel like they only want us to punch everything, but it's useless if our melees suck. Synthoceps is a good example, but more needs to be there. Give us back peregrine greaves. It's not me joking either, it made them so powerful in pve and PvP when using that ability and it truly felt fun to use striker then. Shoulder charge just doesn't have the oomph even though it does more now. Maybe I'm just burned out them. Striker and defender were always so boring to me. Sunbreaker is like my baby. Love that subclass, but it's lost it's feeling of excitement to me. Explosive pyre should be a perk, it should be built in. I want everything to blow up damn It! Swap explosive pyre out for suncharge on fire forged and make explosive pyre intrinsic. I know it would be awful to go against in crucible, but I just want to have fun with it again.

8 RepliesEdited by TotalDramaGamer: 5/30/2018 5:39:09 PMApparently Luna works for anyone standing in the rift. So let's look at it again. -- Luna vs Rally isn't really a fair comparison. That's like comparing the Hunter healing helmet to the rift. It's the exact same problem. Lets look at rally: Great for multiple people, can be used to block damage (or some small chokepoints), and is very visible. Lets look at Luna: Luna is a also a team based exotic that allows free reload within a rift. It does cost an exotic slot. It requires the rift. It also requies that people stand close together in a circle (I'm also pretty sure rally lasts longer, but I could be wrong.) -- I still think it's not a fair comparison. For a Warlock to grant this power it would require the Warlock to use their exotic. An exotic they could be using for something much more useful (like the new sunbracers) Also, the rally provides inherient damage protection by simply crouching. Whereas, with the rift, the Warlock has to choose between damage or healing. With a rally barricade with a damage rift, the rift could be protected while still giving cover. Making rally a nice addition. Likewise, Rally is less likely to have 'friendly fire' due to the fact it's so long. Having 6 people in a rift that's circular makes for less room to shoot rockets. This isn't the biggest down side, but it's definetly there. -- So there is still a very big cost here. You're sacrificing your exotic for something Titans already do... Now... tell me... is that really worth it? I think the boots are fantastic for a team without a titan, but why would anyone use the boots when you do have the Titan on your team. The only 'downside' to the rally compared to the rift + boots is that you have to crouch. That's it. That's all the barricade has 'under' the boots in terms of the shooting. And keep in mind, If you DO have a rally barricade on a damage rift, you would never use the boots in the first place. Why? Because, again, Titans get it for free. They still work great together, I really think the boots are only 'amazing' when no Titans are around. It's an alternative, not a replacement. Also, keep in mind, the boots are also useful if you don't have 'enough' Titan. For instance, we have 4 periods of time you can damage calus in a single damage phase. Usually you don't have 3-4 Titans, right? Well, so at least with the warlock, if you really want to max out damage, you could have them wear the boots. However, this by no means makes rally barricade any less useful simply by the merit of needing several of them. -- In the end, you have to give way to the fact that Titans have the ability for free, at no cost, and able to use whatever they will at whim while still having rally. Warlocks, on the other hand, do not. They need to sacrifice an exotic, they need to choose either health or damage (since they can't hide), and they need to really weigh the option if it's even worth having the boots when you do have a Titan (that's going to put it down anyway). To just say 'this is better than that' is still to not fully understand how the team comp and the restrictions of the boots itself (really, that's the only thing your getting is help during a damage phase). To say that warlocks get it for free, or that Warlocks rifts are not 'just better' is a bit of an overstatement. An alternative? Yes. A replacement? No. Especially not in a team with a Titan. Again, why would you waste the exotic when a Titan does it for free? -- What you might need is a 'barricade' themed exotic. Say... if a Titan wears it then all magazines reloaded by the barrier do more damage or something. Something that makes Titan barricades have that 'special something' that's just awesome. (I guess you could say... more buffs less nerfs :) ) I get what you're saying that the 'auto reload' is a bit of a niche that Titans had. They could certainly stand to be the clear best at doing it. However, still, the boots are never going to replace Titans because the boots are an exotic, the boots aren't useful for anything else, and why would you use an exotic if you have Titans already. In a few weeks you'll still see plenty of use for the rally barricade, I think that the damage protection you get from it is kinda unfairly underrated, and I'm almost curtained the barricade lasts longer than the rift (rift is 15 seconds, barricade I think... is like 5 seconds longer)

2 RepliesOne is simply a class ability, one is Exotic Armor. Don't get offended when a lock sacrifices an exotic slot for the team so everyone (including you) can have a bottomless mag instead of having to teabag the floor to refill. You're able to have your barricade and have a separate exotic.

1 ReplyTitan plants a bubble in enemy spawn, and the enemy surrounds it Enemy:CHARGE! First guardian runs in and gets demolished by the bubble bro. Enemy backs up and sits there. Bubble bro:Who’s next? Enemy team stands there and looks at titan, then turns and runs off.
This has actually happened to me multiple times.
Way I see it please be a good asset rally barricade on one plate then empowering rift on the next or in shadow realm the amount of skulls you'd be able to get.

1 ReplyEdited by Charge-14: 5/31/2018 5:36:31 AMIMO they just need to release an exotic that actually effects the barrier. I’d love to see one that lets you shoot through your towering barricade. S***, what if they put that on the Crest of Alpha Lupi? EDIT: The biggest problem I have with WoD right now is that it’s completely inferior to the shield in PvM/PvE. It’s immobile cover in places where you almost always have cover. Most if not all of my clutch saves have been with the shield, blocking. I only use WoD in PvP where immobile area lockdown is the bread and butter. Immovable object is my game. In PvE, that’s a death sentence.

extreme balancing was how we got to the bland state that D2 launched at, no more balance. I want wild imbalance that is fun. Titans has good exotics. One gives you 2 nades(that is op) one that makes you jump/glide forever and provides not in air accuracy fall off. you have one that allows you to shoot your auto forever. One that starts health reg when you pop you barricade and provide health boast for teammates. You stole warlock exotic that provided stronger melee after first melee kill(correct arc tree makes you almost strong as devour). I think Warlock and Titan exotics lack compared to hunters but i don't feel the need to knock someone else finally getting something nice to make myself/class feel better. Warlock exotics were by far the worse until yesterday. And now we have 2 decent exotics and all the crying begins. Give me a break. You got to keep your bubble, i can't self res. Also you comparison of Luna faction and rally barricade are so biased. I have to use a exotic to get the benefits, you just have to spec for it. That is huge. You can have your rally barricade and any exotic you want. I have to sacrifice my exotic slot in order to use.

2 RepliesThe problem isn't the Luna boots. Problem is Titans get no love. Our exotics are trash, our supers are uninteresting, and we don't do anything better than any of the other classes. We need to see a return of Titan Skating Blessings/weapons of light Ruin Wings

I see where you are coming from, and I agree to an extent. But redundant abilities can increase the strength of the fireteam. If you run lunification, he can run the high barricade and block more area. Communication is key, if you run the same thing, you can stagger deployment and make sure the team has more instant reload time. Give your hunter more support while they flank. Just don’t throw it at the same time. I agree, there needs to be more to that Titan wall. But with a little communication, you have some tools there.
