I like how all the YouTubers and Streamers are glossing over the fact that Escalation Protocol wasn't originally going to be as tough as it is now. And it's only ridiculously hard now because they told Bungie to make it so. They're all behaving like they had nothing to do with the decision at all.
In one of his video, Unknown Player was like "Bungie need to change EP, as it is now it is unsustainable".
Ya think?!
If all the suggestions they made to Bungie are in the same vein, the Comet expansion is going to be "interesting".
EDIT: Yes, yes. You're all super good and breeze through any activity Destiny has to offer. Well done.
I'm not a special snowflake, ok. I'm a middle aged guy who plays D2 to unwind. I don't mind the difficulty, I actually enjoy difficulty in video games. But this is Destiny, not -blam!-ing Dark Souls. Difficulty is one thing but if you need 9 guys at max light to complete something, maybe that thing is a tad too hard for a AAA game who's designed to be "a hobby". Just saying.
I know I'm way too low to complete EP, and I'm grand with that. I actually like the grind and I'm perfectly happy leveling up organically and bite my time until I can attempt it. I'm also a bit sick of being pinged by randos, asking me to invite their mates so I can promote them to FT lead and bugger off.
That wasn't my point though. My point was that EP is hard - maybe too hard - and streamers now have the gall to whinge about it even though they were the ones who asked Bungie to make it harder. I just dread to think what advice they gave Bungie about the Comet expansion. Because right now, on the advice front, we're 0 for 1.
As you were.

When everyone is max level it'll probably be a different story but we'll see

Well, I don't have time to do EPs right now because all the other stuff. D2 is ... what it is, but there is seriously a lot to do. Not saying it's rewarded correctly, but there is a decent amount to do esp if you run 3 toons. I'm happy to wait until I'm decent level in a few weeks and not get caught up in the race. I for one will be looking for teams to join and do this once higher LL and won't be an issue on lfg as plenty will too, so there's no rush big guy!

1 ReplyThey just need to add matchmaking... That is the ONLY thing they need to do.
-
1 ReplyYeah it’s tough but honestly the only issue with it is that the matchmaking system won’t let a full squad in

1 ReplyThe mind is malleable, filled with transient and fleeting ideas. Let us shape it, so that you may see the infinite splendor of the universe. It's suffocating here, this prison. Do us a favor, o bearer ours. Still your mind; invite us to enter the realm of your capricious thoughts. Your mind is vociferous, addled with worry and doubt. We can extinguish these trifles. Would you like that? Yes, we are here. We are not the photons on your screen, or the voice in your head, or the words you read. Shut your eyes—tightly—and you may see us. At least a part of us. Make us real, and in turn we shall reify your thoughts, your dreams. ... Soon.

2 RepliesThe summit wasn't that long before Warmind release...every streamer flat out said that they had absolutely no influence on content released May 8th, there simply wouldn't have been time to change anything, especially on that kind of level. Pretty much your whole argument here is invalid, and really does sound like you're looking for someone to blame for you being unable to roll through EP at this time...
-
It's funny to me that the streamers have such an influence on the game and chose to ask Bungie to make things harder and slower, more "meaningful" progression, but then complain about it. Things can be difficult and accessible, but you can't desire difficult and inaccessibility and complain about an activity not being accessible lol. Like, I like the difficulty of things, but I know it's only because I'm not 370. Enemies just flinch less, have more health and spam attacks more, and that's not really difficult. I don't have to think harder; I just have to shoot more and get shot less. I just want them to add more to the engame. I've had good fun doing the Leviathan and Eater of Worlds for the first time. Now, I'm just trying to find a consistent group to run things with, and that's the real challenge.
-
Agreed ! If they were going to make it a big group activity then they need to allow a full 9 member fireteam to gather and run it. That would be a killer fun activity as a large group. And yes it is a ROYAL PAIN on both sides to try to get teams assembled. Even asking random blues doesn’t help because Mars is full (max 9 players) and you can add players to coordinate... It is just so incredibly stupid right now that is makes it a HUGE barrier to even participating in the activity beyond level 1 ...

1 ReplyPreach brother. EP is absurd considering there's no matchmaking for it. I tried for hours to complete EP, most of it was trying to get 9 guys on a server, but didn't complete it because many were under leveled and kept quitting. It's currently just a waste of time.

Edited by GalaxySpider: 5/22/2018 3:30:59 AMI don‘t think it is too hard right now, especially when they actually going to make the loot relevant to your power level. Personally I have no problem with the difficulty because in Destiny there was hardly any reason to be max light. Now we have one. The only real problem is the ridiculous way of matching 9 people together for it. That is such an „oversight“ by whoever was in charge for it, it really makes no sense...
-
I don't know considering how many people are getting to the first and even second drop at 365-370 let alone the few that have beaten it I think it's just fine. Bungie knows that not everyone is going to run or even beat EP. That's fine. Being to inclusive is how vanilla D2 got so jacked up in the first place. I just now got to a point where I can try the new raid. I'm looking forward to EP after I beat this raid a time or two.
-
2 RepliesIt’s a test of skill. 370 recommended light. Not 345. Not 355 not 365 but 370 and the final boss is above our max of 385 sitting at 390. It’s not supposed to be easily defeated by every casual and fan of destiny in the first few weeks but learned, practices, grinder and at some point by those who have the skill to complete it. I have yet to beat it myself however I look forward to getting past rank 5 and EARNING my loot instead of complaining I have no reason to play.

EP is non evasive and very avoidable so I don't understand the issue here. When I see one going down and I'm not up for it, I leave. If I give it a try, I'll die a bunch of times. Okay, so? I respawn in 5secs. A message from a stranger? "Hey do you thi-" *Delete* I do not care or need to care that you're trying to game the open-world match-making. Another message? *Block* What is so hard about my approach to this? It's not even serious with all these threads about it.
-
Did you expect that we’d be able to immediately steam roll it after a day?

1 ReplyThe only content creator I trust is Datto because he never sucks on Bungie's dick.

4 RepliesI find the EP difficulty isn't the problem... It's the space it's in. If it was EASY to get 9 people into EP then there would be little to no problems with it. It all stems from putting a large scale activity in an environment that can't sustain it without extensive measures by the players. Also, having progression 'walls' instead of progression 'ladders' only explodes this problem even more so. It clearly defines who is qualified for the event, and who is not, and unless you're a raider you have no way around it. Thus, completing the dilemma we have today. If it had been easy to get to 355-360 based on strikes (strike base rewards being up to 350, legendary and exotic up to 360, then if you're above that it scales normally), it wouldn't be nearly as bad. But no, we had to have the '345 wall', and everything went to sh*t for the most part. Which is a shame... because I still think, even the state EP is in right now difficulty wise, it could have been a massive success. But Bungie didn't go all the way. They needed to upscale the activity AND the space it's in. Not one or the other. That's why it failed. If patrol could hold 12 people AND you could have fireteams of 6 people... I bet this would have gone 100 times better.
-
2 RepliesIt’s not the difficulty of EP it’s that almost everyone is under light. It’s really not too though once you get to a good spot. A lot of people are just trying before they should.
-
Still blaming streamers for everything? Ecks dee.
-
4 RepliesYou make some good points. So thank you for the input. I feel that if the progression system was more of a “system” and made more sense, it would be easier to complete. The incentive and grind is there, it’s just a lack luster one.
-
2 RepliesThe difficulty would not be bad if you could actually get all 9 people to play with you on patrols instead you have to break the game in order to beat escalation protocol.
-
3 RepliesI'm not a hardcore gamer. I don't spend hours a day parsing out the meta of current weapons systems, nor do I have so much experience gaming that I can compare the leveling systems of various FPS's and discuss which elements are being used/ not being used. All I know is this: with all of the problems that Destiny 1 suffered, not once... NOT ONCE... did I ever have to worry that the adds I was shooting at could not die. Sure, there'd be times when there were so many of them they'd get me, or maybe they'd be just tough enough that ammo management became a challenge... but never that I'd stumble into a fight (ESPECIALLY in open world settings) and go, "Nope, these are not killable. I'll be running away now." Neither did I have to worry about being harassed for being in an open world setting at the wrong time, minding my own business. Nor did I have to worry about reaching max level as a requirement to participate in end-game activities. Let me repeat that last one: having to be max light to participate in end-game activities. I'm sorry, but in Destiny 1 it was the other way around: you participated in end-game activities to reach max light. This game is like a slow motion train wreck in a dumpster fire behind a combination china shop/ fireworks factory/ orphanage. Every time I think it can't get more messed up than it is currently, Bungie pulls out new and ever increasingly creative ways to make the game more of a clusterfork.
-
I've doubt bungie was influence to make the change last min. Supposedly it can be done with max power level 3 man. It a struggle at wave 6 and 7 but it can be done.
-
1 ReplyIt isn't hard at all. The only issue is 3 man fireteams. And even using an lfg site, it's easy to find full 9 man lobbies.
-
I love how we have to admit that we know what shitty comments are coming ahead of time. This community actually sucks
-
EP difficulty is fine my dude. Just get your light up, after all it is designed for people who are max light, hence why it's 400.
-
Agree with everything you said.
