Maybe that streamers summit wasn't a good idea after all
I like how all the YouTubers and Streamers are glossing over the fact that Escalation Protocol wasn't originally going to be as tough as it is now. And it's only ridiculously hard now because they told Bungie to make it so. They're all behaving like they had nothing to do with the decision at all.
In one of his video, Unknown Player was like "Bungie need to change EP, as it is now it is unsustainable".
Ya think?!
If all the suggestions they made to Bungie are in the same vein, the Comet expansion is going to be "interesting".

I'm not a special snowflake, ok. I'm a middle aged guy who plays D2 to unwind. I don't mind the difficulty, I actually enjoy difficulty in video games. But this is Destiny, not -blam!-ing Dark Souls. Difficulty is one thing but if you need 9 guys at max light to complete something, maybe that thing is a tad too hard for a AAA game who's designed to be "a hobby". Just saying.
I know I'm way too low to complete EP, and I'm grand with that. I actually like the grind and I'm perfectly happy leveling up organically and bite my time until I can attempt it. I'm also a bit sick of being pinged by randos, asking me to invite their mates so I can promote them to FT lead and bugger off.
That wasn't my point though. My point was that EP is hard - maybe too hard - and streamers now have the gall to whinge about it even though they were the ones who asked Bungie to make it harder. I just dread to think what advice they gave Bungie about the Comet expansion. Because right now, on the advice front, we're 0 for 1.

Escalation Protocol is lazy development with bullet sponge bosses. Cheap gimmicky garbage in lieu of good content. You can tell the crap wasn't thought out. If you finish all of the levels, you might have something drop that you will never use. Might drop are the key words. Do not sweat doing this activity, it is not worth it.

Honestly, I love that EP is hard and that I can't complete it. Finally have a reason to worry about light level again and gave me a drive to grind for higher level stuff! I think what they have done with this expansion is great so far (not perfect, obviously) and brought back some of the allure of D1.

With everything else that Bungie gets there hands on Potential to be AMAZING but comes up a little rough around the edges

It's simple. D2 sucks and is horrible. So they pay streamers to blow sunshine up people's ass. Once the streamers realize short term money from bungie is gone they will finally drop this cancer game once and for all. By then anthem will be out and destiny will go in the hole with atari' s E.T.

We just need to be able to load in with 9 people. Also add matchmaking. I’ve done it with 9 people (4 of which were randoms) with 375 being the average and we cleared all 7 waves after about an hour or so.

The harder something is, the easier it is for streamers to separate themselves from the average players - they have a live viewer base to facilitate forming the EP teams.

2 RepliesI think the activity is something to build up to. What I DO hate about the design of EP is going solo into mars to get cabal precision kills for the sleeper quest and have 4 guys follow me around killing all the cabal and getting in my way because I wasn't quitting so they could get their 9 man fireteam in. The current set up with everyones' light levels encourages teams to troll solos because the solo player is holding 3 player slots hostage till they quit.

I agree for the most part, I like difficulty in games but Bungie listens too much to youtubers and twitch streamers especially the few selected ones that Bungie sponsors lol They have never even in D1 listened to us average gamers! Like in D1 they asked the streamers only to appear on their reveals never a normal gamer so apparently we aren't being listened to and that is why a lot of D2 players have quit and went back to D1 and honestly I have thought about it myself, I work a 40+ hours a week job I have maybe 4 hours a day to play Destiny, I don't want to spend 2 or 3 hours a day just searching for a fireteam which you spend an hour in orbit for everyone to join and get situated... Call me a whiner or whatever kiddos call it now days but the statistics don't lie, more people are back to playing D1 than D2 that should tell Bungie something, I feel they just slopped through D2 without actually thinking first just to release it as oon as they could to make the streamers happy go lucky lol!

1 ReplyRidiculous tbh. I'm a solo player and have been since D1. I'm not an elitist in any way nor do I sit day and night playing D2. Far from it. Still I've managed to get 2 chars above 360 and finished EP once with like minded people. Being a solo player doesnt mean you dont do shit with others. If that's the case you're in the wrong game. I'm not comfortable talking and chatting like everyone else but I get in random groups, do my job, pray to rngesus for loot and then I gtfo. Difficulty is just fine, a bunch of random 360-365 got it to work with some struggle but we managed. Only part I'll agree with is the matchmaking as its utter and pure shit getting 9 people there. If u wanna play solo aka no mic but still teamwork I'm up for it so just hit me up on psn

It’s totally ridiculous. I think having a higher level activity is fine, but if the goal is to have it as a public event that you can do with randoms it’s completely unrealistic. Don’t make the activity one where you need 9 high level players together to complete it if you can’t even be sure you will have 9 players in a zone at a time. It’s a terrible decision for solo players

i enjoy EP bur I really dont understand a 9 man activity in a 3 player space..it makes nosense at all. Now I can get that done because am in an active clan but the idea of it being a random event and ppl will join in from their own patrols and you will all kill together and run away together holding hands after......stupid Bungie LOL Why not have a space where you can go inas a 9man and grind it..I dont see the problem but ill wait for the "but the loot, i have no friends, im socially awkward, I want to just stay at the back keep quiet and get free stuff...etc etc.."

8 RepliesI love Gears of War's Horde mode and assumed we would get a clone like that. Starts off ultra easy and progresses up. Nope. We essentially got "you barely qualify for this event" level all the way up to "don't try unless you're max light with Y5 Gally and 10K Raid clears". We had it all in HoW and all anyone did was cry because of Thorn. We had powerful gear, every raid and event was relevant due to etheric light so you could bring up any piece of gear from any time period you choose, we had perk re rolls, etc. All of it gone. Now we're just left with a spiked dildo to sit on.

New expansion offered very little to improve the game. I played for perhaps 2 hours total this week. D1- 2 hours at least/day. May come back once in awhile to get the 1 light level increase, but the game seems to have run its course for me. The balance between fun, casual, and hardcore gaming apparently is impossible to achieve, anyway the franchise as a whole has been fun, entertaining, and well worth the money spent on it (although the DLC from D2 definitely was thin).

So I don’t think the EP or anything else was there fault. I could be wrong though so don’t quote me on this one.

Difficulty was the right call at 370. People have barely scratched escalation and it will take another couple weeks for people to be at the recommended light level . It’s a good thing too or else everyone would’ve been burned out on it by now . Now the wrong call was limiting it to 3 person fireteams . Without a doubt it should have that option. I helped 3 underleveled people today get their sleepers and we had a blast . Bunch of randoms met up on planet. That was fun . But it took a coordinated effort of supers and communication and by the time we hit our third run we cleared wave 3 . Everyone was underleveled .

EP is fine, Bungie has to enable 6 or even 8 man fireteam to patrol is all.

You literally just have to get your light up and join the ton of teams doing EP. Whats wrong with you? Did you really feel the need to write a post to complain about one of the best activity since the release of D2? Did you like the state D2 was before? When everyone gets to max light on the first week and sit there doing absolutely nothing at all? It's not the streamers summit, its you boring players who just want everything given to them without any effort.

Had something truly fantastic come out of the summit, it could have been a saving grace, but in true Bungie fashion, it was shrouded in secrecy and of course the 'NDA' forced upon content creators. This was nothing more than a publicity stunt and we all know how well Bungie are at marketing (especially the turd that was Destiny 2). RIP Bungie and Destiny 2. The worst game of 2017... even worse than Battlefront 2.

You need at least three level clears (can all be level one) but that’s impossible to attain because no one will allow me in their group because my LL is too low. EP actually made the community even more toxic than it already was. [b]EDIT[/b]: I have completed level one three times. I managed to find an instance that had proficient randoms and we cleared it with ease.

40 RepliesI agree tho. EP was poorly implemented. This game has a toxic fracture between filthy casuals and loser elitists. The fact is an endgame activity that is the flagship of this dlc is so inaccessible that a massive majority of D2 players will never utilize it. Furthering the gap between the casuals and hardcore. Bungie has done a piss poor job bridging this gap. No I don’t want “handouts”. No I’m not a snowflake. I’m busy. I have work and a family and -blam!-ing places to be. I don’t have the ability to lock myself in my basement and play for 10 hours a day. And gee I’m so sorry about that. The true is Bungie needs to offer a solution or D2 will continue its downward spiral. We need the casuals. We need the hardcores. But most of all we need better decisions from Bungie.

A game based on progression with a mode that can’t be progressed , I don’t care really 380 power will come when it does but how many guardians will still be playing by then , we’ll it will probably be less than 380 lol .
