We got what we asked for? BS

I keep seeing posts blaiming the state of the game on the 3 years of Destiny 1 feedback. What a load of crap. No one ever complained about heavy and supers being too prevalent. Heavy came around twice in a match and was usually the most exciting time of the match. Nobody complained about a lack of a elementary primary slot. They just asked if they could have more choice. A couple of extra elementary primaries would have been fine. Nobody asked for special weapons to be removed. They just wanted them more balanced. What we had was 1 hit kill weapons with regenerating ammo. People did ask for matchmaking but we still don't have it. Guided games is a train wreck half measure. Towards the end of Destiny 1 crucible was in a pretty good place. You had players roaming around the maps, using different guns, experimenting with load outs, watching YouTube videos on how to improve their game, grinding for that god roll weapon and having fun. With Destiny 2 that is all gone. They just had to make a few minor tweeks so they took a sledgehammer and destroyed it. They could have tamed a couple of guns and separated PvP and PvE and everyone would have been happy. Don't blame the gamers for this s**t show. Blame this ill thought out, rushed, greed fuelled mess on the developers and publishers. PS. which complaint was the introduction of nightfall timers introduced to address. Players loved to try to solo the event but how players want to play the game is no consideration to Bungie. They decided that they don't want players to solo the nightfall so they introduce a mechanic to stop them. So they did. PPS two tokens and a blue. • Morons at bungie should not listen whinners or inplement their own illusions to the game. They should observe player count related to the changes, and follow that direction which granted more players.

That's all the "gun skill" crowd ever did was complain about heavy and supers being "spammed". How many times did Bungie change heavy spawn in crucible? Too many to recall. That's why. For three years a lot of us kept trying to point out that Destiny isn't Call of Duty because Space Magic. But the "gun skill" crowd was much louder. Bungie dropped the ball on D2. But the truth is that they did deliver on some things players asked for. The problem is they listened to the wrong group of players. The people who came to Destiny to play an MMO were left out to appease the people who wanted just another FPS.

    • Naw, man. They asked for everything you say they didn't. Admittedly, the people asking were just idiots who want to play COD, but COD is dead...so they wanted Destiny to be more like COD. Now Destiny is as dead as COD. The real issue is:"Why did Bungie listen to the vocal minority?"

-Tons of people complained about a prevalence of supers in PvP. This was included in the overall opinion that abilities were too powerful and up too often. Among them were supers, so the goal was to make them more impactful but less common. To exemplify, go watch J3z's 'Iron Banner' in a nutshell where he gets chain killed by solo supers. They were panic buttons that were up every 2 minutes, not moments of triumph. -People did complain about not having elemental primaries that werent exotic. I complained about it! Because it was too convenient to not have to use my strong weapons to down shields and instead just peck away at them before dps in PvE.To solve this, Bungie implemented a system to reward you for matching damage type on shields with an explosion vs. Punishing you for not with DR. To balance this, they made a slot specifically for energy and moved multiple weapons to Power slot since they were inherently more powerful, which leads to... -People did give negative feedback about heavy and special ammo. For special ammo, if you werent using Icebreaker or Invective, it was a lifeline that actively forced you to stop fighting and seek it out to not fall behind. For heavy, even its super exciting to get it mid match for you, in year 3 that was the ONLY time it spawned. It became a pot shot; run to get heavy ammo and risk a team with scouts and autos gunning you down. If your team gets it, good for you! Now the other team gets to sulk the rest of the match since you have a clear advantage over them in damage and they don't get a second chance to use one whole slot of their load out. These changes were made, again, due to complaints that they were too readily available. To remedy this, they shifted your special weapons that had high dps to power weapons since thats what they are (ie more 'powerful' than other types) and made that ammo drop frequently in match but for one person. This both emphasized individual play and hero moments and did not turn the game into 'one side gets Mayhem Clash, the other gets to cry.' Weapon tuning is still needed for some, namely snipers, but even snipers can still 1 shot anybody if they're a good enough shot. Its just easier to bounce around with a rocket or shank someone with quickfang. Maybe a good idea would be to give shotties and snipers limited ammo at the start, but then everyone would use them I bet. Such is the world of meta. -People did give feedback about how 'simple the nightfalls are, I can solo them with my eyes closed.' I do kinda miss that, not gonna lie. But strikes are meant to be a team activity. The power fantasy of the game in PvE is team focused. If you wanna call back to early D1, recall the first trailer and 'The Law of the Jungle.' "The Strength of the pack is the Wolf. And the Strength of the Wolf is the pack." I.e., the success of the team should benefit each individual separately in order to better lift up the team as a whole 1 by 1. That REQUIRES a team. Perhaps they could implement a Non time attack challenge for solo players in the future, because I'd like to try that. But time attack was made as a new challenge based off of the timer in Year 3 strikes when the strike points system was released. It's really hit and miss for people. I'm not saying you can't have an unhappy opinion about some of these changes. Bungie needs all the feedback they can get. But don't discredit them; as everyone seems so keen on chastising them over they DO listen to us. So remember that the next time you do decide to say 'this sucks and I want it changed', think of what good and bad implications would come of that change. And do some research too so you don't discredit either Bungie or your name. Edit: Oh wow... that's a lot of replies and upvotes. x_X Never gotten so many, but I'm really glad I could debate and make a talking point for you guys to gather around. :)

      • the problem is, 1 player wants a tweak this way, another player wants a tweak that way, and then another wants etc etc etc instead of listening to the noise they should have just rocked with their game as it was. You either roll with it or switch games. and yes, on these very forums, many a cry baby complained and blamed everything for their losses. Supers and grenades, god roll guns, heavy, snipers, shotguns, you name it they blamed it. Nobody could just admit they got outplayed so for 3 years straight all we heard was this bitch fest. So I disagree, the community very much played its part in this fiasco as well

Respectfully disagree with many of your points. Been here and subreddit almost daily as a reader and respondent since pre-beta. Can definitely confirm shape of D2 is in large part due to Community feedback.

Yup, these are all changes we didn't ask for. Also add: Nobody asked for a Smaller vault Nobody asked for Less weapon and armor perks - we wanted better options Some people asked for a Slower super, but that just made the game less special, big mistake. Nobody asked to Throttle Chest Rewards Nobody asked for eververse reward engrams. Nobody asked for reskinned enemies, but here we are Nobody asked for consumable shaders Nobody asked for 4 vs 4 to replace 6 vs 6 pvp Nobody asked to take out PvP mode choice or story replay choices. Nobody asked for this stupid token system I'm sure there's more I can't think of at the moment.

          • Even if it is, us asking for "more primary fights" doesn't mean completely take away all other aspects of the game to bring in a double primary system. Someone made a really good analogy a while ago about how this is like asking for extra sauce on your spaghetti, then your waiter brings out a giant bowl of sauce, and no noodles. We still want our noodles, we just wanted a little bit more sauce, that's all.

            • Agreed. I think its funny people blame the state of d2 on feedback from d1 when, aside from a few changes(losing special ammo on death) the feedback and changes they made throughout its 3 years made it overall a much better game.

            • I would just like to thank all the people that played d1 reminding people of these things and shutting down the people that caused the mess that d2 is in. Our voice needs to be heard louder than op because posts like this are why this game is in the state it’s in

            • Everything you said nobody ask for, I remember reading multiple threads asking for or demanding, the only exception would be timers, I don't remember anyone asking for those. And all those complaints about D1 were people that wanted the game to be a Halo clone and they got it, now they're upset about it. But just because all these things were requested, doesn't absolve Bungie of blame. They turned the game into what it is and they own responsibility for that but the people that made the requests that helped lead us here need to own some of that too. And now you see some of the same people that asked for those things hoping Bungie takes us back to how things were in Y3 D1, forgetting how bad the game had gotten at that point because of the constant nerfs.

              • This is painfully accurate. Guided games is trash matchmaking. Who wants to sit for 40 mins in orbit just waiting?? Static rolls also murdered this game. Biggest cop out ever. How does a sequel possibly have that much less depth than the original?! For shame

                • All people did was complain about snipers and shotguns. In fact I remember a shit tonne of posts that said they should just be removed altogether, as for heavy "machine guns 2 op plz nerf" everywhere and the non stop complaining about tracking rockets in trials. Honestly to say the community had nothing to do with this shitfest is a load of crap buddy lol. But I get it, no one likes to admit that they had a hand in something millions of people now hate.

                    • Where have you been? Its been 3 years of nerf this and nerf that. And they did. They even managed to nerf fun. Eveyone started to complain about pvp durring HoW after trials was introduced. So they built a game so that pvp was "balanced" and fair. No random rolls, no heavy, no snipers, no shotguns, no abilities. The nerf everything crowd got exactly what they deserved. The problem is that we all get to suffer because of it.

                      • 1. Tons of PVP players and content creators complained CONSTANTLY of special and heavy weapons being too powerful....and their ammo too prevalent. All you used to hear around here was people complain about "crutch" weapons like "Felwinter's Sniper" (the first high-impact shotgun). "Efrideet's Crutch" (Sniper with LITC that could OHK to the body). As well as Year 3's "Mapador" (another Felwinter's class shotgun". 2. Again so many PVE players complained about elemental primaries being taken out of the game that Bungie returned them----as exotics----at the end of 3...and they became Destiny 2s' "Energy weapons". 3. No one asked for them to be removed. They just demanded that they be nerfed to the point where they were broken...and Bungie refused to break them. So---since people were demanding that the Crucible basically play like Halo----Bungie changed the weapon system so that it would PLAY like Halo's did in PVP. PVE players just had the changes forced on them because of the common weapon system. 4. If you think Guided Games is a train-wreck...PRAY that Bungie never gives in to the demand for random MM for raids. Bungie, fortunately, has no interest in settting up people to fail. 5. At the end of Y3, The Crucible in Destiny 1 was such a broken joke, that I---and many other veteran playres---had simply stopped playing it. Because: A; primary weapons had been nerfed to the point where the sandbox could no longer be balanced; B; Instead of BUFFING primary weapons so that they were competitive with special weapons, Bungie just starved them of ammo...which just FURTHER unbalanced the game. Which gave us a meta dominated by sidearms, Icebreakers and fusion grenades. The "shotgun rush" got replaced by the "sticky 'nade rush'. 6. No they didn't have to make "minor tweaks". If Crucible was going to be "balanced" and "competitive" like so many players were demanding, it had to be rebuilt from first principles. 7. Bungie is ultimately to blame...because this is THEIR game. But the community is also responsible because the changes that were made to the game were an effort to give the PVP community what it SAID it wanted. ...and they simply found out---like DeeJ tried to warn them----that they didn't LIKE changes. What they WANTED wasn't what they NEEDED. And we wound up with an exquisitely balanced....and painfully BORING game.

                      • Lol if you were anywhere near the forums back in D1 there were people crying for everything you just listed. The bungie community is seeing everything through rose tinted glasses, find a new game and move on if you feel that strongly about it.
