That hurts, that genuinely hurts as a fan who felt the sense of mystery and wonderment in the first game, even as far into the taken king. It's not just this tweet, it's the fact that most of D1's lore and story seems to have been retconned, for no reason more than the new writing team wants to sate their ego and have their shallow image for the game's story fulfilled. The most obvious and recent changes are Vance and Osiris, Vance going from a mysterious disciple figure, who was supposedly a guardian, into this passive aggressive, guardian wannabe fanboy, and with Osiris, and his sheer lack of inclusion into the story, and the DLC of which he's named after! What is the curse of Osiris? Whether it's Saladin just not even mentioning rise of iron, to the state of the world just being the same after the red war, new tower, everything's just hunky dory. What's the point of anything happening if there is no development arc?
Edit 1: Wow, didn't expect to gain this much traction, hopefully the appropriate teams at bungie see this.
Edit 2: I'm adding a link to IRaidWithAussies thread, he poses a perspective that i don't have. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/242554517?showBanned=0&path=0
Edit 3: Another good thread by a close friend. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/242547570?showBanned=0&path=0

14 RepliesEdited by Durandal: 2/1/2018 12:24:03 AMAnd all of this is taken waaaay out of context, yet again. Are you going to edit this again to cover the fact that it has been clarified that what was meant was the grimoire contained lore that was written from various perspectives within the overall lore of the world and like all personal accounts they may be tinged with embellishment or leave some things out or miss the bigger picture, and that really is the definition of folklore. Nothing has been discarded or retconned. Edit: apparently not, instead stroking off other people who are just as derpy. Nice doubling and tripling down on your stupidity.

This just kicks me while I'm down The grimoire in D1 was borderline POETRY. Some of the most well written stuff i had ever read. The potential lost here is astounding.

2 RepliesI can't wait for the retcon in destiny 2 where Tess Everis and eververse saved everyone in destiny 2 by letting them buy back their light with engrams. And when she broke into the house of glass and sucker smacked the vex with her premium ever verse gear. How it was not the Iron Lords who fought many great battles, But, Tess and her Eververse avengers who got rid of the fallen who refused to buy bright engrams. Also, It was Tess who beat crota and his daddy. By,the sheer might of her massive wealth she build a super hyper op laser and blew up the dreadnught, which is why we can't get on It. Really, let us all remove the fairytales and praise our true savior.. Tess and Eververse..Now,GIVE TRIBUTE!

3 RepliesIt's not the devs fault, they made the game how they like it, it's your's, you keep complaining about it, stop it, IT'S JUST A GAME.
-
1 ReplyApparently everyone involved in this game that isn't an animator or designer is an ego-centric jerk. They finally get luke smith to stop saying stuff to enrage fans and now this.

3 RepliesEdited by TitanKnight: 1/29/2018 3:37:42 PMHow in the actual blam is Suros Regime, Vault of Glass, Kabr, etc... Folklore? She obviously did not even bother to examine D1 before making such incompetent decisions. Thanks for killing Saint-14 too, the guy only wanted to find his mentor, but instead found his death by the strike of your pen. I'd much rather read the actual Grimoire than your child's play Osiris comic, because one has actual lore and was made by the people who created the universe, while the other is a story from a random author. Margaret you truly are a shitty narrative director. #1 NYT author? as if the NYT had any credibility or prestige left loool

Edited by DramasEnd: 1/29/2018 11:38:48 PMThe campy cabal & their disgusting robot leader Calus are on a relatable conquest across the solar system. Never heard that one before lol I'm starting to think Oryx is the only worthy antagonist we'll ever see.

7 RepliesOsiris had an American accent in D1 now he has sone weird hybrid egyptian accent.
-
I will say this, though. It is unfortunate that this is becoming a witch hunt, but this is what happens when you ask players to become invested in your stories, then switch the tone and narrative out of nowhere just because you can. People become angry, and she’s the latest target of that anger. Bungie is ultimately responsible for all of this, but she does bear some culpability in this matter.

6 RepliesCompletely agree. Did anyone else feel like Vance was a sorta inside joke Bungie came up with as a slap in the face to D1 players who were enthralled in the lore of these characters we've yet to meet? Cause Vance almost seems like a direct parody of the 'lore nerds who zealously seek out and cling to any scrap of info about these interesting people they have never even seen'. Singling Vance out to be this mockery of the player base is especially strategic seeming due to Osiris being both one of the most mysterious yet most likely to eventually show up characters from all the lore. The whole Saladin thing and all the Iron Banner gear having no lore tabs also are a painful indicator of Bungie trying to sweep the lore and history of the franchise under the rug.
-
It's sad when we prefer to get the lore from a third party, rather than Bungie, they've always done a terrible job implementing lore but they made it completely irrelevant in Destiny 2.
-
1 ReplyBasically destroyed the work of all the lore youtubers that do a way better job in explaining the actual good story of destiny that was dumped into the grimiore instead of the game.
-
7 RepliesThese lousy mofo’s are putting the finishing touches on ruining destiny for good. Sad part is these idiots are running off of Joe Statin’s hard work and his creation of destiny. The dumb -blam!-s at bungie right now will never have the talent Joe had. This is proof it takes talent, true talent to actually develop a once in a lifetime video game. And only takes a few clowns with All talk and no show to ruin it at launch. Bring Joe back already! Fire the worthless 600 employees and bring Joes team back and produce the REAL destiny.

Typical Disney type move. Remove everything that came before that made it great to maximize profits and push an agenda Shit move bungie ... shit move

3 RepliesWhere is the Bungie response? Or what does it say?
-
D1 had amazing lore. D2 even destroyed that.
-
there is no story whatsoever...it's like a weak graphics showcase. i don't think even rhey know what they are going for

Can't wait to see this company go under.

8 RepliesStohl's most 'famous' (word used loosely) book series is aimed at 10 to 14 year olds, her most famous work overall is listed as "Mighty Captain Marvel (2016-2017)"... 0.o The worst version of Captain Marvel or Carol Danvers ever written! Do you really wonder at the writing direction?
