I love reading the FB comments people have regarding this. People defending this type of behavior like it is a positive thing. Regardless of whether or not some couples receive short-term relationship benefits from it, there are thousands of years of human existence and infinitely more amount of studies done that show the exact opposite. There are a plethora of negative things that prove to have short-term benefits for relationships. For instance, when couples share in an illicit activity together, it probably does strengthen the bonds of their relationship for the time being. That does not dismiss the fact that they erode (or at the very least have a high risk of eroding) the relationship and the persons involved. I actually personally know two couples who engaged in this, and it destroyed both of their marriages. One of the couples said everything was great. The typical "it helps us get to know each other better and have a more fulfilled sex life blah blah blah". A few months later, the guy looked and talked ike a train wreck. Like his whole world was just in the shitter. A few months later, they divorced and she is now married to the other guy. The second couple, the wife was depressed because the guy was always on the road and the guy was ok with it because he knew it gave her some short-term happiness. After a short time, their relationship crumbled. She began speaking of him as if he was pathetic. Well, no shit. She made a genuinely good guy feel like he had to let his girl do this in order to maintain a healthy relationship. Eventually, they both realized how ridiculous it was and ended it immediately and are now much happier and healthier. The fact that people are trying to turn this on its head so far as to say that men who are opposed to this are insecure is laughable. Marriage is not like friendship. You can't have multiple partners and expect the marriage bond to be stronger. Even in the example of friendship, friends can feel left out if they are neglected. Children can feel left out if their siblings are getting more attention. How much moreso with marriage where it is by design to be an intimate partnership. When two people marry, they commit to one another and give themselves over to one another. Though two individuals, they each become one another's. No man or woman in their right mind would be ok with this because common sense knows the high risk and likelihood that it will lead to much deeper and sometimes irreparable issues in the marriage. But, yeah, guys who don't want their wives banging other dudes have many more psychological issues than the guys who are so self-deprecating that they feel the need to let their wives be taken by more dominant men. -_-

Actually, roughly 80% of article talks about fantasy aspect and how there are more people who think about this than one would expect. I wouldn't exactly say that this is CNN saying people should let others sleep with their wives. Especially since the article also references gay men, who obviously don't have wives.
