Good Weekly Update!

I liked what I was reading. Granted, we should've already had this shit but we've already beaten that dead horse. Good update all around.

  • I liked it as well. And as minor shaders might seem compared to weapon balance... for a lot of players it's very important to customize their character and in the worst case, the current system keeps you in a state of " i don't apply anything, since I don't have enough of the shaders, but I will not pay for this as well", so I end up with no shaders on my gear at all. And compared to how nice it was in D1 I hope they'll find a system everyone's happy with and again, I don't mind them selling things but consumable shaders right now are not doing a great job. The faction rally (besides all the knows let downs) are still a good concept IMO and being able to grind for shaders that I like was a complete new experience in D2 for me. I don't feel too good about control as a game mode in D2 (and it was my fav. mode in D1!) so we'll see how IB will turn out, but that's another topic I guess.

    • I am just wondering what -blam!- up they will introduce this time, it has become a routine, so I am expectantly waiting for it to backfire… again Well, yes a nice Weekly Update and I did like what I saw, but its bungie and with these guys we must take a wait and see attitude, more now than ever. IB Re-skins again aside, Raid changes seem interesting, and those doing deserve it, even if those mods should have been part of the gear perks from the very start and not mods… its almos like they forgot how to make Raid gear… but anyway, still not worth the trouble of going through LFG, but that’s just me and my bad luck with groups. Resuming, on my part, Nice Update, that won’t keep me logged in any more than it takes to finish the milestones, already lost too much interest in it.

    • I'm not overwhelmed. I'm not even just whelmed. Iron Banner: Increase in cosmetics and some new gear, which may, or may not, be any good. Seems to be a heavy influence in PvP in general, despite the many posts on separating PvP and PvE, and despite the low numbers who play PvP, and the decline of PvP as a spectator sport on Twitch. So, the PvP experiment continues. Cosmetic increases elsewhere. Supposed increase of exotic drops in Heroic Strikes, but there are lots of complaints that most exotics are anything but exotic, so, what's the point? More mediocre exotics isn't much of a gain. The Raid: New drops for the Raid, lotsa cosmetics again. BUT, according to some sources, less than 20% of the players complete the Raid. This is good news for those who do, but absolutely nothing has been done to entice, or enable, more players to even complete the Raid, at a lower level. All that has ever been introduced is a higher level. Sure, no doubt that high level players completing the Raid deserve some high level goodies, but there is no way that low level players can complete a low level raid and receive some low level goodies. If 20% is correct, this of course means that 80% of players are unable to even play that part of the game. No bulk shader deletions, which to me was waaayyy down the list of improvements asked for. And to boot, apparently it's not easy, which means a big amount of time, money and effort will be spent on a minor problem, and it got 20 lines of explanations in TWAB. It's not that you couldn't delete shaders, just that it took time. So, of all the stuff asked for: retaining the strike fireteam; faster supers; more power; better character perk trees; random rolls; faster masterworks progression, and many others for instance, none even got a mention. I dunno what the comments number for bulk deletions were, but they were minuscule compared to other complaints. Some change to Prometheus Lens. Let's see what it turns out to be. Might be allright. Like I said, I'm not all that whelmed.
Shader Sit-down Since the launch of Destiny 2, we’ve gathered a lot of feedback on the new shader system. As time went on, and the shaders began to pile up, players lamented the cumbersome process of trying to delete each shader one by one. You’ve been asking us why we can’t just allow you to dismantle entire stacks of shaders. I mean, there are other consumables that can be dismantled en masse. It’s a totally reasonable question and we wanted to let you know the facts. We’re not making excuses or claiming this problem is too hard to solve. We just want to be transparent about what the problem is, and how we are going to go about solving it. Here is Senior Design Lead Tyson Green to shed some light on shaders. Tyson Green: Shaders are individual items, and individual items trigger individual reward bundles when dismantled, even when those rewards are simple. That creates a challenge for us that we haven’t yet addressed, which is triggering dozens (or hundreds) of reward bundles simultaneously when an entire stack of shaders is dismantled. This is challenging not simply because an arbitrary number of rewards need to be run and delivered simultaneously, but because we also have to safeguard against scenarios where this produced items that couldn’t fit in your inventory, which could be instantly lost (ex: shaders that produce Glimmer could easily evaporate into nothing if you were at or near the cap.) It would be relatively easy to find another button on the controller (L2 + X?) and let players actually delete a full stack, but that isn’t the spirit of what players are asking for, so we’re looking at a stronger solve. In addition, we’re also looking at how to address other shader feedback: It should be easier to get rid of a stack of shaders. We are looking at mass exchange solutions. We know you miss D1 Armor Shader mechanics. Looking at ways to re-integrate that capability without losing the ability to shade weapons, Ghosts, ships, Sparrows, or customize specific pieces of armor. We also understand you want shaders to be more freely usable and not limited by availability. We’re looking at re-introducing shader collections or a way to get copies of a shader in your possession. This work is ongoing, and we’ll go on record as to when the solution will land as we get closer to a fix that we test and certify. For now, it was important to us that you know it’s on our workbench.
See this Bungie? This right up here? ^^^^^ THIS is the type of communication I have been pushing you to give us. I will give you harsh critique for every, single, stupid decision you make, but I will also be one of the first to sing your praises when you do something right. And, this right here, this is right. Finally I get some idea why it is taking forever to address an issue like mass shader deletion and it was by far the most interesting part of this week's TWAB. I congratulate you, Bungie, cause it was just yesterday I was trash talking the perspectives of your TWAB today. You made me eat my words, and I have never been so happy to have eaten my own words. Don't think I'm not still incredibly disappointed in you and my trust in you is still at an all time low, but you did something right and I have to give you credit for it.

          • Oh my god, when are they going to design some new weapons??? That Hakke hand cannon is the same design as the test weapon from the gunsmith in Destiny 1, that shotgun rings a bell too. I cannot be arsed putting in the effort into D2, so I do not know if the scout rifle is a new design either, but it does not look familiar to me. Pure laziness. However, the armours looks very nice. Perhaps the guys that design that stuff, should design the new weapons too?

            • I like the clear communication (finally) and the changes itself are a start to get the basic features up to a level we used to know from it's predecessor. It doesn't solve the fact that there is still no content that makes me want to grind the game again. Exotic weapons are still underwhelming besides the Mida, the Colony and the Wardcliff perhaps and the exotic armor hardly adds any useful features besides two or three pieces like the Orpheus rigs. Furthermore the meta in the Crucibles is still dominated by the same five or six (fixed perk) legendary weapons and team shooting is still the only way to win. No possibility to choose my beloved Control and always 4 against 4 while other team setups would be more to the point. And those strikes... Well one Vex is bigger then the other but all end bosses look alike and i miss the darkness below the surface cause all worlds like alike in the end. And those tokens are simply stupid, why did you create a feature to travel quickly between places and then force us back to the seven social space to turn in some stupid currency named tokens which are all different but end up giving you the same weapons in the end? I will download and play the next DLC simply cause i bought the season pass but if the Division or Horizon zero dawn gets a hold of me i might wait till part three.
