Explain the Eververse Riots

Could someone please explain to me why everyone is hating the Eververse and wants it removed?

  • IMO it's mostly because if you pay real money you should actually get the thing you want. Save the random drops for the engrams you earn in-game. That exotic public event ghost, for example. Having it would make doing public events more rewarding, yet the drop rate on any exotic ghost is ridiculously low. Offering it for a flat rate of 50 silver /2500 bright dust would mean you could actually get what you want by either dismantling sparrows ,ships, transmat effects, and shaders for the dust OR the impatient people could just buy it for what equates to under $1 in real money. In that scenario, Bungie STILL makes money off microtransactions...but the consumer isn't paying actual money for a lottery system with piss poor drop rates on the good stuff. I'm sorry to say it, but you will not get that exotic ghost by grinding in game. If I had to guess I'd say the drop rate for that is about .04%. Now, Bungie SEEMS to be saying that ghost will eventually be available for silver dust. If so, then good. That still doesn't solve the gambling aspect of the current system. I don't like agreeing with entitled, whiny trolls...BUT... after looking in depth at the current system and even trying the "lottery system" I have to say the trolls are right. It's a rigged, terrible system. I had a good year financially and spent some money this week on silver for the first time in D2. I won't say how much, but you would be appalled. Still no exotic ghost. Thinking of teenagers and young adults having to go through that(i am middle aged and have spending cash) really disturbs me. If nothing else, there should be a cap where once you've spent a certain amount you are allowed to pick the item you want. It's a fallacy that you can grind for that stuff. I've been grinding every day for those Dawning gifts and they also haven't contained anything but sparrows, one sword, and an armband for my Warlock.

    • It's microtansactions in a paid game with paid DLC. They can't just do free events anymore. Titanfall 2 and Overwatch actually get content that stays.

    • The CORE issue of why Eververse is an actual problem (despite billions of cringe posts) is this: it removes items that already existed in reward economies in D1 and puts them behind a paywall. Sure there are bright engrams, but you only get three a week without grinding past the throttle, and its random; both a far cry to D1 system. In Destiny 2, where Intellect/Strength/Discipline is gone and armor with actual perks is a memory, cosmetics are all that really matters. Since Eververse sells some of the best cosmetics + other stuff, its bad. There are many more reasons but that (in my mind) is the main issue.

Bungie escalated the already very hated idea of Eververse by putting a quarter of the items in the game inside of a RNG loot box system. They then throttle XP gains to slow this process and then fix the throttling by doubling the amount of XP required for an engram. Their final mistake is putting the entirety of the Dawning behind a paywall.

      • Bungie drastically changes eververse in D2 from D1, adding in more micro transaction able items. Nearly all vanity items in D2 are found only in the eververse store (keep shaders in mind) Then, in Curse of Osiris, there were more items added to the Eververse store than there were added to the expansion itself (and, since the expansion was lacking, people wanted eververse items as incentives to play). Now, in the dawning, the game only gets mayhem crucible and snowballs, but the eververse gets 50 new items. Comprende?
