It would make it worth it to get all armors in the game like a mobility armor would add recovery/little bit of resilience if you wear the full set of raid armor.
Maybe do the same with weapons if you use full set of weapons from the raid have one of them activate a perk that would act like an exotic weapon.
Or do one for each set of armors it'll be different but it'll add some sort of grind again lol
Example: Full Set of Raid Armor is a mobility set the added set bonus for wearing full set should give you 3 to 5 Recovery and 1 to 3 Resilience depending on the activated perks you selected on the set. It'll give reason to wear full armor sets.
People that are saying you'll be stuck with the armor set what if that mod on the armor from that set can be turned into a mod to put into other armors?
Thank you everyone for putting in your ideas! Have a great day!

Have a five piece set. Get the bonus if you wear 4.
-
I love that idea and it's really common in RPG games but apparently in destiny it considered to be "power creep" basically it's either nerf or nothing.
-
5 RepliesThis would be cool, maybe make the set bonus for 3 pieces, then you’ll have the option of your go to exotic, or the other piece in the armor set. Have a little flexibility.
-
This isnt terraria. But that would be nice
-
All of this is correct.

I said the same thing in d1. It would be a good idea to have foundry armor to go with the guns. When wearing a full set you would get a buff to dmg., range or a change to rate of fire. Then you cpuld also have other perks for faction armor so that it would matter what we wear. But this is bungie so no fun or creativity in that department.

1 ReplyI like this idea a lot. I'd like to add to it, as it's something i've been thinking about for a while. Since every activity in this game can yield the highest level gear, it has basically invalidated the need for doing specific end-game content to hit max. I'm sure everyone here knows someone that's 300+ by just spamming public events right? Why not have SPECIFIC bonuses for gear obtained through activities. Hell, the ground work is already there with the various sets obtainable by activity, it's just a matter of making each "unique". For example: PUBLIC EVENTS = Gear that enhances capabilities against specific creature types based on home world (Nessus can be Cabal specific for example) CRUCIBLE = Gear that enhances capabilities against guardians (Trials, Iron Banner, Regular Crucible) NIGHTFALL = Gear that enhances capabilities against majors based on type (vex, cabal, taken, fallen, hive) RAID = Gear that enchances capabilities across the board (more balanced, but not as powerful against specific types like previous sets) This would allow them to expand the sets over DLC's, while also encouraging guardians to collect particular pieces and *gasp* actually do the end-game activity instead of just spamming patrols.

Why!?!? Balance!!! Friendship!!! Control!!! That's why!

share some love an rate your favorite game straight from your console/pc. Bungie might "consider" some updates.
It's definitely something to consider. Some have pointed out that it would make players feel like they have to wear an entire set and not equip Exotics or lose out on the bonus. That could be a small annoyance to players who want the freedom to mix and match their gear, do you think the added bonus outweighs that?
- cozmo I continue to be amazed here. Why is it these “experts” have no sense of imagination?(or sense of urgency for damage control, but that’s whole other rant) Set bonuses are something that should have been added to D2 as a feature, not a “consideration”... And the comment about players feel like they “have to” wear the full set... jesus... that’s the whole. God. Dam. Point. Is the trade off that the player has to weigh the pros and cons of choosing to or not use the set. Here’s an idea, I won’t even charge my normal consultant fee of $75pr hr., why don’t you build the set bonuses around the exotics. You might make them feel more exotic if they all had different stat/ability buffs based on what other legendary items are equipped

Sounds good on paper(or internet lol) but in practice, it's very limiting. Something like this works very well in a game like Terraria where there are a wide variety of armor sets that grant things, but simple stat boosts like the ones suggested aren't enough. They'd have to do things like reduce ability cooldown while sprinting, add third eye to your weapons, start health regen and overflow healthpool for picking up orbs of light, increase jump height and increase movement speed more while sprinting, damaging enemies gives you super charge(very, very slight)
-
Actually there were a few things that D1 armour had that I think would be good for something like this. Orbs restore health or shields both even More ammo in reserve for a weapon type Get more glimmer when killing X (though I don't think this is in D1 armor) That's just stuff I can remember But there are alot of minor non meta making qol perks that could be had. Simple stuff life more control of sparrow Melee kills give glimmer Move faster when using/doing x Slide farther Do more damage to enemy x Lots of these can be combined The raid armours had some nice synergies
-
Set bonuses are cool, I just don't think soft stats is the way to go. I think it would be better to have a passive ability like increased glimmer, more damage vs a species, etc. For Raid gear, it could be something more impactful, like Sprint speed, or slide distance/weapon handling for Trials gear.
-
Probably won't happen
PvE is a second thought to Bungie.. balance etc
-
Actually, intrinsic perks that actually help would be a nice place to start. Oh, I don't know like D1 had
-
It's a balancing act, Bungie under Activision is NOT in the position of making any interesting decision. Think of them as super conservative father who would stone their daughter to death for something.
-
I feel like having a full set of gear for bonuses would add some incentive to players but annoy those who don't want to wear the full set. I honestly don't wear a full set of gear ever, I always mix and match, so do I want to be forced to wear gear I don't want to for bonuses? Nah Maybe apply this to the raid and trials gear to further players reasoning to do those game modes?
-
It's a feature that would create even less variety in loadouts in a game that already has issues with varied loadouts. It almost never brings anything positive to any game that features it. I get that it sounds cool as something extra to strive for, but it ruins the potential to mix and match gear.
-
Nah rng based buffs are not a good idea.
-
2 RepliesJust make some room for exotics on this and I am peachy. My entire Titan build is around my syntheceps gauntlets. I need those to be a real Titan....
-
upvoted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I somewhat like this idea. But I also kinda like to mix and match my armor sets to make sets that I think look cool. Call me shallow or childish, I don't care. I like the ability to make interesting armor sets. So, as someone else suggested, offer this idea with a transmog like WoW does so I can make my armor look the way I want it do and still get the bonuses (which shouldn't be too hard as they had this with cosmetic armor in D1)... OR... Why not do it with armor mods? Then people can set up the armor the way they want it to look, but then we can make sets. I actually like this idea better. But I also do like the idea of armor set bonuses.
-
Would be neat, but it would deter people from wearing exotics; if they are used to having one equiped, it'll be a small annoyance to lose that boon.
-
Because that would be too "FUN" and here at Destiny headquarters, we hate fun and love balance.
-
They've taken all the bonuses off the raid armor and guns...sucks.
-
So much fun to read people who agree with this, when people back in D1 cried over the fact the only way to be max level in D1 Vanilla was to wear the Raid Set and said it limited customization. What do you think this is will do? It will limit customization, pigeonholing you into wearing a specific armor set. Terrible idea for those who like the customization factor.
