Why the Heck are there loot cooldowns?!
I really thought this was a bug at first but then i looked on here and found out that Bungie literally put a cooldown on the loot you get. It doesn't even take much to activate the cooldown. I literally just turned it on, got a treasure map form cayde and went to titan to get it but because i killed one high value target and looted the chest he dropped i got literally nothing from cayde's chest. i couldn't even get any alkane spores. I mean i'd understand it if there was some bullshit farming method that became popular so they put in a cooldown so if you are getting too much loot in a short time it makes you wait a while, but i'm literally just casually playing the game, doing things they intended for me to do. In a game that has a high emphasis on end-game grinding you CANT punish players for freaking grinding.

26 RepliesI know how exactly how you feel, but it's even worse when you think about it , let me explain. The outside world looks down on Videogaming, like it's not a legitimate activity a human should be doing. But if Videogaming is a "lowly" activity. So what's worse than that? Grinding. Grinding is a Videogaming activity that the player doesn't particularly enjoy but it's the only way to get the results you want. So basically it's a lowlife activity inside a lowly activity. But there's even worse. Farming. Farming doesn't get you good loot, it just gets you materials. Farming is Grinding's lil bitch brother in a family of losers. And yes - there's even worse. Empty farming chests, is the "FML" moment of Videogaming! And that is the moment we question our time usage.

Tone down your complainy....tone. Bungie might not take you seriously. Everyone is experiencing this though, so lets all hope it gets brought to bungie's attention and gets fixed. Ive gotten it when I get a chest and there is literally nothing, several times in a row from heroic public event farming. Punched a hole through an oak tree about it.

1 ReplyIt's a real issue when it's the challenge, "collect ten alkaline spores". Artificially extending the time it takes to complete a bounty is not fun.

Also they wouldn't give you a ghost to farm, abilities to farm, hell even Caydes maps that show you the random chests to help you farm if there implemented a block.

It's a bug for sure and I wouldn't consider anything else unless told by Bungie directly. It's too random, sometimes it'll happen after 2 to 3 chests, or 5 to 6, hell sometimes I'll get a lucky hour of straight farming.

Max level within a week of release if Bungie didn't release events in little increments at a time (like raid, trials, etc.) [spoiler]it's to hold back the gamers who spend too much time in this game so all the normies who play on weekends like me can play catchup. Thats why you can only do nightfall, raid, and trials once a week.[/spoiler] [spoiler]a little ps. Bungie also wants to pad the peoples playtime like how little kid movies pad the runtime with fart jokes. It's unnecessary and bungie just wants to stroke their cocks and say "look at how many hours and how long our players have been playing!" But in reality if there was no limit to rerunning a nightfall or raid, I'd gather up some buddies for a night of grinding. And that is what Bungie doesn't want you to do[/spoiler]

2 RepliesI want to make a YouTube video with the Confused/John Travolta emote. First scene is Cayde going "THERE WILL BE LOTS OF LOOT" then it'll cut to a Guardian opening a chest, getting nothing, and doing the confused emote over and over for like 5 minutes. But I don't have the emote. :(

I agree this is loot CD sucks. I think they should do away with it, it doesn't make any sense. That being said, I've found a way that works to reset it for me is going to orbit. I've had to do this because it seems 5 minutes isn't enough and all my chests just have nothing when I hit it. Which also feels more random than a threshold reached.

Part of it may just be a bug. I mean when I was doing the daily challenges to collect planetary materials some of them simply wouldn't give me a material. It counted towards the challenge but I just occasionally didn't receive one so I think its more of a bug than the cooldown.

You think that's bad, I loaded into the game, got my treasure maps, went to titan, opened my very first caydes chest, and guess what... nothing... Then I get booted to orbit for about 5 min, then my game crashes. I played Arkham Knight till I passed out after that.

So far in the first few weeks I have had 4 Cayde chests with nothing in them. These chests cost 4800 Glimmer each. 4800 G isn't much but it's the principle behind it. If you pay in game currency for something the next logical conclusion is you get loot or whatever from said transaction. But we're talking about Bungie here, so I guess ... working as intended?

I'd understand it if not for the fact that they [i]sell consumables that tell you where chests are[/i]. Why would they make it [i]that[/i] easy to find chests and then [i]not[/i] give us something from those chests??

6 RepliesI have NEVER experienced this "loot cool down" everyone is going on about. I spent three hours the other day grinding public events and chests on Nessus and everything I opened had an item. It may have just been a token and glimmer but I never opened an empty chest. I just did Cade's chests on titan this morning, followed by more chest grinding for an hour straight and still no "loot cool down" for me. Everything I opened I got something from. So I'm gonna have to say it's a glitch.
