Just Trying to help people out. Feel free to ask me any questions as I noticed a lot of people are struggling on this fight.
1. Don't kill psions when they first pop up together. They drop heavy ammo but for each one you kill it spawns a yellow bar.
2. Teams of three into projection realm and throne room. BE QUIET AND COORDINATE so you can hear your call outs. It is the biggest thing for that fight. Have someone call out first, second and third. But quickly.
3. Have a runner in throne room grab the correct scion that wasn't called out while other two focus adds. If the runner is locked down make sure someone close can grab it. Throne room also needs to lookout for the random AoE when Calus snaps his fingers. It will be a big giant exploding sun. RUN AWAY!
4. People in projection realm should shoot across from eachother to kill psions that the other person cannot see. For example if you are on the left shoot right. Vice versa. Once the correct psion was killed in throne room you can see the next purple barrier appear in front of you...jump over your current purple barrier and get set at the next one. A good technique while trying to avoid being thrown over the little purple barriers for no reason is to crouch and hold back on your joystick. It will cause you to move slower and have a bit more control. Also...watch out for the big obvious death ramps and dips in the floor.
5. Bring auto weapons (sweet business, coldheart) and a healing rift to collect skulls easier for force of will in the projection realm. Those two and fusion rifles, including Merciless, are also great for boss damage. Rockets with cluster bomb are amazing for boss damage I use Sins of the Past (raid RL).
6. When the sun pops up above his head don't start shooting it until you have force of will x35 to x45 depending on dmg output. This will get you to x60+ easy. (Alternative you can lower his health immediately then stop and when you hit around x70 go in for the kill)
7. Come up with a pad rotation for damage phase and WAIT FOR EVERYONE to get back to the throne room to jump onto first pad. Maybe do a countdown to get onto first pad when everyone has returned. For example my group went bottom right pad to top right to top left to bottom left. AS SOON AS HE STARTS TO RAISE HIS HAND OR HIS GUN MOVE TO NEXT PAD OR YOU WILL DIE.
8. Use tethers or empowering rift and have hunters run golden gun for big dmg output. Primarily on the pads closer to Calus so you can output best accuracy and damage on his weak spot.
9. Repeat this process and you should have him down within 5 attempts. ALSO when you kill him remember there is a final kill phase. Pop some supers, Don't stop shooting and finish him off. Good luck Guardians! 😃
...and as always...Praise the Sun!

1 ReplyCalus first and ONLY Boss in the Raid............ Sad.
-
Great guide, more people need to know how to beat this encounter.

9 RepliesEdited by Banana: 9/19/2017 12:05:52 AMUse Coldheart on Calus. Outperforms merciless.
-
1 ReplyPlease know that, and I cannot stress this enough, YOU CAN DODGE THE PSION ATTACK WHILE IN THE VOID. IF YOU DONT KILL THEM SOMEHOW, DONT GIVE UP.
-
1 ReplyI have a good strategy that makes it very easy to kill him in only one damage phase. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/232123969/0/0

9 RepliesNot to be redundant as i posted this before but if you have 2 very skilled titans with bubbles you can leave 4 people in the shadow realm and easily get 100 stacks for dps phase. We almost 1 cycled him this way but only got him to 8% health. If you use this method you can do it in 2 phases. Less times for people to mess up.
-
1 ReplyBump please

5 RepliesCouldn't beat it last night because one guy in the group I was with who was on the far right of the "inside" team with Calus' head kept dying right before skulls. He said the game was forcibly pushing him to his death right there and everyone accepted it as a bug, even when he would scoot over towards the center. This persisted for 3 hours, and happened without fail on the last damage phase each time. Bug or bad player positioning?
-
1 ReplyFive phases it should only take 3 normal and two at least. Hell almost did it in two but someone wasted most of a plate so we had to do three for a fraction of the bar

1 ReplyI noticed that this wasn't in your guide and might help others tremendously. While in the Shadow Realm after the call outs are over with and the correct psion was killed that wasn't called. The players in the realm will see the next blue barrier pop up in front of them. You can then jump over the current barrier you're on and safely get to the next one without waiting for the barrier to disappear. This helps kill the psions faster by having everyone stationary ready to kill ASAP the psions pop up with ease.

1 ReplyGreat points. Most importantly, you need one leader to organize WHO KNOWS THE CORRECT STRATEGY. We had a guy that seemed like he knew what he was doing but didn't want to shoot psions cross court and was terrible calling out switches on damage rotation.

10. once shooting skull phase begins have one player use a long duration roaming super (arcblade, or strike with +kills=times) kill ads while the other to players focus calus shield. 11. when downing calus shield a good way to give the throne room team more time (from my experience during the sun all throne palyers take consistant damage) if a warlock player is not avialable for a healing rift is to stack on a titan wearing alpha lupi chest. 12 during calus damage phase if using a warlock with arc soul, wait to pop rift until on one of the last two (ones closest to calus) platforms.

1 Replypraise that goddam sun

1 ReplyGreat post! I beat him yesterday twice back to back with different groups and its unforgiving if even someone slacks off.
-
7 RepliesNot that I'm ever gonna get around to doing this, but I appreciate it. A video guide with walkthrough commentary would also be useful for visual learners like myself.
-
Way of the Sharpshooter also makes Golden Gun spawn orbs on precision shots, so you can help fill your team's supers.

5 RepliesSo after 2 good runs we got him down to under 5% health. Yes we were frustrated but maned up and went for a 3rd run. We did perfect in shadow realm yet again except for that last floating pison projection at the end. No joke THE LAST ONE -blam!-ing detonated as soon as we killed it. There has never been a moment in my life where I wanted to just destroy everything. Im still pissed about it. Random lfg groups are going to be the death of me.

1 ReplyBiggest tip... understand the mechanics and don't suck

1 ReplyInb4 mods change all caps title

1 ReplyDo you think you can help me through the raid? I know all the mechanics and everything but I can't find a good team to complete it, this week I got stuck at garden cp :( I'm a 300 Hunter, I would appreciate a lot the help if you accept :)

3 RepliesWith good stacks, a critical Nighthawk shot does an easy 270K+. Highly recommend it.
-
4 Replies1 was my groups only issue... We had no idea. Then our leader said he'd try it with another group. Apparently it only took 4 runs. I ended up getting the auto from the vendor. I'm now excited to play this saturday. Not excited to redo dogs though...

3 RepliesWhile in the final phase (death phase like oryx) do you have to stand anywhere specific to kill him? He did his charge move and my team I were getting immune the whole time.
