I am just curious. I took a break from destiny after taken king. I've been playing since day one. One thing that always bugged me was not being able to reach the max light level. I only have two friends that own Destiny. So finding a raid party was pretty difficult for me. At least finding a party that wouldn't quit or not have mic's. Speak different language's (nothing wrong with that). So up until Rise of Iron I was always short of the light cap.
Now I have finally reached the cap. And I am pretty happy about it. I'm just wondering if other people feel this is a good thing? It's not like we have special raid gear. That seems like a badge of honor for those that have completed the raids. As for myself I am just happy with my dead orbit gear. I am good enough to complete any raid. Just haven't found the right people to actually complete a single one. Even though I've been here from the start.
Anyway I know this is a rambling post. Just curious if anyone has a problem with the way it is now?

I don't personally know anyone who plays Destiny, but have around 350 raid completions. the100.io. If you don't raid, you are missing the best pve content Destiny has to offer.

1 ReplyIron banner helped me get to 400 I've never completed any raids due to solo all the time
-
Yeah I got to 400 without raiding and I enjoyed it. No hassle of getting a team together and the greater hassle of getting said team to work together. Just played the game like usual strikes and patrol.
-
I did it months ago on all characters. I'm constantly deleting poor rolls on 400 gear to clear my vault. I have 400 loadouts for every subclass with complimentary perks for whatever guns I want..nothing below tier 10,most tier 11,and a few tier 12 (My Nightstalker and Bladedancer are tier 12,as well as my Striker with hand cannon loadout) Iron Banner was the real hero for solo players. If you just reached 400 now you are going to have a long grind to get other loadouts now that IB is done. Unfortunately, if I get careless I still die a lot in heroic strikes. Skill is much more important than LL. I've soloed 390 Challenge of Elders, but that's about the extent of my skill.

I got up to 400, without raids. But now I'm getting raid gear from weekly raids or 390. When I get a chance.

I am happy I have never really completed a raid either. It's the time commitment. Maybe you do it in an hour or maybe it's 2+. I am glad they added weekly vanguard bounties and strike chests that drop max light gear. It allows you to hit max light, playing the game your way.

Edited by Voucher Boy: 8/12/2017 12:21:47 PMI have the same problem in finding groups as none of my friends really play much. However my character is at the light cap and, even though I have done the raids a bit, most of my gear is from elsewhere! Well done man, I know what it's like 😂 I did really enjoy playing the raids tho, they're a great experience and I think you're really missing out if you don't play them!

4 RepliesOne of my friends hit max light on all 3 without doing the new raid. Congrats man!
-
1 ReplyMade a sub account 3 weeks ago. 3x 400 before raiding. Check a guide.
-
I'm a hardcore player, and it's a very good thing that they don't force you to play one or two elite activities to reach max power.
-
3 RepliesI'd be glad to raid with you if you're on Xbox. Some of us take rookie raiders through wotm a couple times a week. I think you'd like it.
-
1 ReplyThey made it too easy to reach max light on roi update! 385 took no time at all and 400 was a couple of hours grind in crucible with 3 of coin It should not be so easy
-
2 RepliesI hate that they made it so easy and that is one of the reasons I stopped playing.
-
3 RepliesMissing out if you don't raid.
-
You guys are missing the point, who cares about max light. The raids are the best content destiny has to offer. I feel bad for anyone not able to experience it.
-
I have never raided and easily got to 400 light on my hunter and 399 on my titan

Before you post about raids being awesome... Yes raids are the best part of the game. This was written not to put down raids in any way. Also this was not written because I can't get to the max light level. This was written because once upon a time when this game first started uaing the light system a lot of leveling up was based off of luck. Before if you did a raid you were almost 100 percent going to get gear to bring you to the max level. Now some of us believe it or not. CAN NOT FIND PEOPLE TO RAID WITH. And when we do they are unreliable people that quit. This discussion has been going on for quite a few days now. Read some of the comments or replies to get a feel for where everyone is at discussing the topic at hand before you let me know what's going on. Or don't. It really doesn't matter. I only started this thread to see what people thought of being able to reach max light... Without doing a raid. Not.... if raids are better than everything in the game. They are. We all know they are.

I don't think you should have to raid to reach max light. I do think it's probably the easiest way to hit max lvl though. There's also the benefit of raid exclusive gear which makes raiding easier. A good example is one of the WoTM armour pieces gives you a higher drop rate for heavy ammo when killing fallen. Useful outside of raids too sometimes. If you're struggling getting into a raid team, why not join a clan? The one I'm in has dedicated raid teams with specified times so people can know when and who they are raiding with. It is a little quiet ATM but so are so many other clans. We expect a mass return on September the 6th ;0)

9 RepliesRaiding to reach maximum light is a Y1 method that is completely outdated. There are much faster ways to reach max light now. Read this chart prior to leveling your other characters: http://imgur.com/RDTzfp6

1 ReplyWhy would it even matter what others think? You achieved something but only you can tell you the worth of that achievement. Everyone else is just a bystander in your life. Bungie consciously gave us multiple pathways for light progression. It's not that they said that choosing one path over the other was inherently bad, otherwise they would have removed it. If anyone has any problem with it, let them. That's their opinion and they are entitled to it. However, you don't have to let their opinion influence yours.
-
Can't remember sorry. It's that long ago since I was 400 on all 3 characters.
-
1 ReplyI managed to get from 335 to 400 on all 3 class without a single raid. Then went on to get the AoT t-shirt 😊 Congrats Guardian ☺ it's good that end game isn't required to hit those tragets. As a mostly solo player, I felt good about getting maxed. I did have some Nightfall help, but other than that, I Lone Wolf'd it 😉
-
You got to 400. Well done.

Raids are the funnest amd most challenging thing in Destiny. If you play PVE and don't Raid...you miss out.
