Can someone help me out? I didn't get the chance to play the destiny 2 beta (been gone for 3 weeks) and I'm very curious about voidwalker. It's one of the subclasses I've considered starting off with upon release but don't know what it's like so far in D2. Is it better? Worse? Different? Anything would be appreciated. :)

11 RepliesEdited by Vortx4: 8/3/2017 8:20:21 PMI would definitely recommend voidwalker. It's what I will likely be maining. For PvP The nova bomb on the second tree is just as good as ever, if not BETTER. As it will be the only one-and-done super, you can use it to shut down the five other roaming supers in the game. Very useful to prevent teamwipes. Grenades are the same, and axion bolts are as good as ever. Blink is great. Although it disables your radar still, it is now very very useful with how the rest of the jumps have been toned down in speed. It's almost as good as the hunter evade but you can use it every few seconds! Also, in the beta at least, voidwalkers could hold the Circle or the B button, and they would be able to activate glide. This let you double blink, which is by far the longest distance any jump can go (by blinking, gliding, and then blinking again without ever touching the ground). The second skill tree seems pretty good, since your melee will refill your health and you can start health recovery whenever you want by draining grenade energy. Plus you get the good nova bomb, unlike the slova bomb from the other tree. For PvE This is where the slova bomb shines if you want to use it. It felt like it has a bigger blast radius than the old one, plus the mini bombs that seek out even more enemies. Grenades are the same. Again, blink lets you travel the farthest of any jump when coupled with glide. Both skill trees seem to be very good in pve. The top one of course lets you have the massive nova bomb to clear out tons of adds, plus you can overcharge your grenades. That makes your vortex grenade bigger to catch more enemies, your axion bolt gets two extra bolts (so four in all), and scatter grenades track like with nothing manacles. The bottom skill tree also looks to be useful. You can start a chain of infinite grenade energy and health by draining your grenade/meleeing something, then killing more things, and repeating. The perks work so that once you get the Devour perk started, you get more and more health/energy as long as you keep killing stuff. The verdict: Voidwalker is good.
If you don't understand anything of what I was talking about, just reply and I'll link the skill tree/the reddit post on double blinking.
It has it's ups and downs. I love voidwalker,so I'll likely stick to it in D2, but Dawnblade is pretty slick.

Beta was a horrible representation of the new void walker. If the final release isn't any diff, I'm creating Titan X3.

1 ReplySuper and grenade energy sucks so learn to have better gun skill and not rely on your abilities. Start now in crucible

4 RepliesEdited by AustinSX: 8/4/2017 6:22:15 PMYou know how voidwalker is fun because you can throw a lot of gernades and recharge your shield with ability kills and float pretty fast? In D2 you can.... reload weapons faster on charged melee hits and throw your nova bomb once per PvP match or about 3-4 times per strike. (Depending on team mates making orbs) All the gernades are the same for every class, but take way longer to recharge and do way less damage Blink is the same, makes your HUD turn off longer now

The second perk tree that was locked for the beta looked good. The other one is not as good as the d1 voidwalker

6 RepliesEdited by Solarvoidlock: 8/3/2017 7:50:38 PM- The new nova bomb is way slower than the old one. But in the second attunement (skill tree), that was locked in the beta, is the (old?) vortex bomb. I guess it has the same speed as the vortex nova bomb in Destiny 1. - Many players don't like the new nova bomb since it's slow. I was one of them. But the more I used it the more I liked it. When it detonates it releases smaller novas that aggressively track their targets. I threw a nova 8-10 meters above a minotaur, then I detonated it above the mino in mid-air (by shooting it with a gun), and the baby novas chased down to the mino and killed it. Was cool. To all players that complain about the new nova, I wanna say: give it some time. Give it a proper chance. - You can overcharge your grenade (vortex, axion, scatter) which drains a bit of super energy. Looks like something from Dragonball Z when the Voidwalker holds the energy ball. An overcharged grenade is stronger. - Blink is better than in D1, can't really say why though. It just feels better. - Voidwalker was the only subclass with blink in the beta. But maybe Hunters will get an exotic that provides blink. I like the new Voidwalker better than the old one.

Voidwalker yes. For everything mentioned before plus the Nova Bomb looks amazing. Probably the best out of all three characters supers. Something about the sound and graphics of it. It's a ShowStoppeR. A rule of thumb I've learned from decades of WoW & Diablo. Always bet on warlocks.

The warlock is still fun to play, I main a warlock and LOVE voidwalker but....Nova bomb is something that has changed dramatically. Kind of like a throwing an elephant. Takes a hot minute for it to do anything. Basically throw it and watch it go right past an enemy (have a video of this happening) then traveling at the speed of snail until someone walks in front of it or it detonates and you get nothing for it. Really sucks because I've already done this, nova bomb is coming at you in pvp, no problem out run it or kill yourself. Person who threw it gets no credit for it and waste a super. Really odd thing Bungie did with nova bomb. It'll take some getting used to for sure.

1 ReplyThe Slova Bomb is literal herpes.

2nd skill tree. Just do it.

It's terrible. Dawn blade is the same as the current titan hammers. But just with swords.

1 ReplyVoidwalker can apparently "bake" grenades, it uses your super energy a little.. but it makes your grenades stronger. Also one of the trees makes your nova really slow, but it aggressively tracks enemies, and on blast it lets out like axion darts that chase people.. looks pretty cool. Id look up some youtube vids if you want more information and to see it.

2 RepliesYouTube.com search destiny 2 voidwalker...you're welcome...😁

2 RepliesThe Nova bomb (in the attunement we got to play) is very slow and not that great for PvP but the neutral game is great, it was my go to subclass when playing on warlock. I'm a hunter main but I was jealous of only voidwalker getting blink this time around because it's really good!
-
1 ReplySame grenades, same jumpings/blink. Maybe tweaked a little here and there, but basically the same. I don't remember well the perk tree, but this one made nova bomb a slow seeking ball of void, which releases exploding bombs (similar to shatter grenade) on explosion. I liked it 😊

Edited by Zelrons: 8/3/2017 7:25:10 PMDifferent. Just look up Voidwalker gameplay. You can also still try out the PC beta in a couple weeks if you've got a reasonable PC to run it on.
