...that Bungie needs to spend less time telling people that they are playing the game wrong. You like hanging back and sniping? You are playing the game wrong because we don't want to program the AI to deal with it, so we will basically take away your sniper rifle. You thought being able to juggle back and forth between a shotgun/fusion rifle and primary weapon was fun? WRONG! You will now have TWO PRIMARY WEAPONS AND LIKE IT, because crucible! You are over the age of 30 and enjoyed the social aspect of PvE and had little interest in crucible? WRONG! We must make crucible the star of the show and have everything in PvE revolve around the crucible experience.
Look, in all of history, there has never been a moment when people have had something they wanted taken away from them and they were happy about it.
Now I understand you wanting to balance PvP. You want people to have an equal experience. I don't understand why you keep trying to tell us that we are playing PvE wrong. Why do you care?
You have made SUCH strides forwards in the campaign. It looks SO much better, and it looks like a story I want to play. But you made playing it so much less interesting. I spent the whole of the strike hopping around unloading primary weapons into the enemies other that the 5-12 heavy weapon shots that were totally underwhelming for the fact the it took me the WHOLE damn strike to gather that many. And you say that you are going to increase the drop rate of heavy ammo, but unless you increase it to the drop rate secondaries used to have, it isn't going to be enough, especially since I only get to have sniper or shotgun or rocket launcher or fusion rifle. Less options in PvE = less fun, whereas apparently less options is PvP = more fun, not that I would really know or care.
You have also removed so many options from the possible upgrades that the subclasses have, so that everything is toned down and similar feeling. PvE players LIKE to be able to select radically different loadouts and earn upgrades as they play. But the changes take away a large chunk of the options that used to exist. These are clearly all designed to make everything so similar to balance PvP, all because you are so damned determined that the game is better if it is the same experience for PvP as PvE. Let me be reiterate what has been said by literally everyone here.
WRONG!
Look, it is so easy. All you need to do is work on making the story mode PvE work, and the in PvP you have Lord Shaxx determine that players are getting sloppy in their primary weapon use, so for this match everyone is limited to primaries only. Lord Shaxx has determined that secondaries are under utilized by Guardians out in the field, so guardians will spawn with a clip of secondary. Lord Shaxx wants guardians to practice with their Light powers so every guardian's super will be fully charged every 3 minutes. Lord shaxx has determined that in this match every player in each class will have their entire skills setup pre-determined by him. Lord Shaxx thinks Guardians are relying too much on their legendaries and exotics, so for this match during loading everyone must select their weapons from a pre-determined selection of common weapons and armor, and so on. This has the benefit of adding even more story to the game (it doesn't matter what people are actually doing in the game. As lord Shaxx would be using the crucible to, oh I don't know, TRAIN GUARDIANS! The modifiers applied don't have to actually be relevant to actual player results in PvE campaign they are just there to balance PvP.) Though I would hope it would go without saying that this would not be a random modifier added to matches. People would select the experience that they want. Because this is a GAME. Not everyone wants to play a game the same way. Letting PLAYERS decide how they want to play should be the goal.
So, to summarize. More options in PvE = more fun. More balance in PvP = more fun. THESE TWO ARE MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE.
Edit - oh yeah, have decided to cancel pre-order for now. Sorry, am just really underwhelmed by the changes.

Every now and then a video game studio has to close its doors. Whether it was due in part to filing for bankruptcy, their parent company deciding to close up shop, or just unfavorable market conditions. Anybody remember these video game companies that went defunct due to poor choices. LIONHEAD THQ PANDEMIC CLOVER STUDIO GAME REPUBLIC Actually the list is extremely long, to long to write here, suffice it to say I don't think anybody here wants to see Bungie added to that list, so Bungie if you're out there please listen to the majority of your fans, and not the minority. Give us our powers we like feeling powerful in PVE, don't neuter our guardians and weaken our weapons because a few people cry in PVP, and please in any future Destiny game or DLC give us a voice. Thanks for listening Guardians stay strong with the light, and remember whatever class you play were all fighting the same enemy, the Cabal.

I... really do like the idea of the last paragraph... modifiers on Crucible matches would be cool for breaking people out of their routines. For instance: One-gun: Primary weapons only. Lights Out: All guns, no abilities. Lights On: Mayhem mode, no guns. Eyes down: No radar or HUD. Preselect: Player is assigned one of 15 predetermined, balanced loadouts of blue guns. It would be a fun addition for a DLC.

1 ReplyDude. Uhhhmmm... your idea for Crucible and Lord Shaxx putting match restrictions is fracking perfect. Period. Bungie needs to take notes here. It would be so good. "Lord Shaxx is tired of you running, sliding and shotgunning guardians in the face. So those are out. Good luck." Reminds me of an old video that Hush (YouTube sniper guru guy) put out about playing against the current meta to a) become better at the game and b) enjoy the game more by challenging yourself. BUNGIE!! Listen to this guy!!!

9 RepliesCan any one think of a change that Bungie made that the majority of the playing community thought was a positive enhancement of the game especially PvE? Comment appreciated.

Year 1 was the only good thing about destiny. After that it's been trash for 2 years. D2 so far might be a step up from the shit that was destiny 1 but that could change at any moment.

2 RepliesNoticed you didn't mention swords. Don't forget about swords friendo. Swords are love, swords are life. Swords....

1 ReplySucks you won't get the pre order stuff. But I see how you feel PvE was a dramatically shit to play because of PvP. I argue with people telling them since PvP an PvE aren't sepreated it has caused a bleeding effect that if something is nerfed in PvP it effects PvE. Why has not one listened well because of trolls and termites that pull the conversations so far off the tracks it results in someone getting temp banned for voicing there opinions about genuine feedback. It was reported that in PvP your lucky to get one super out of a round an very low charge rates for melee an grenades so no spamming. Does anyone see why PvE was like it was now. You were lucky to get your super, melee, and grenades by the end of the strike. Not to mention the heavy with it being shotguns, snipers, and fusion rifles they wanted to cut down the spam on these weapons in PvP but these weapons were useful in PvE from destiny 1 but are no longer as useful cause you basically have to save the ammo for the boss. The only ones who disagree with this among other post that have something to do with the same general idea are those who kiss bungies ass and only play the PvP portion of the game and never play any PvE.

9 RepliesEdited by FL0W: 7/27/2017 6:26:05 PMThe people that think using two Primaries at once is better than the current D1 system in PvE are challenged...in a bad mental way.

Bump. I hate the weapons systems
-
10 RepliesExactly. The motto of this game used to be, become the guardian you want to become. Now it feels like I'm being forced to pitch a tent and hold hands in pvp. And pitch a tent and hold right trigger in pve

Well said. I was very disappointed by the beta. It's a shame, destiny was the only game I played (only had time for one game) because I loved the story, and what it could be. Bungle's terrible management of the game has totally turned me off though to the point where I honestly don't even care anymore.

5 RepliesI agree almost entirely. The agility class(Hunters) are the slowest of the three(huh). Warlock have blink and garrison evad and I couldn't keep up. Striker is still blazinly fast and a joke. All jumps being vertical biased and are horrible. So Warlock can spec for resilience and recovery as can Titans. Hunters get agility that is good for what, walking speed? How about actual sprint speed so we can run and hide for 5 min for recovery to start. The supers felt like it was way easier to shut down and I didn't feel "super" at all. I felt like it was a sign that said shoot me dead. I hope the timers will be dropped so they become useful again. The character models looked puffy and boring. If I am a super human who has killed multiple gods, I should be in top shape/condition. Look at any athlete and show me the soft one at a track and field meet or UFC event. Ok so enough complaints, how could it change? Obviously you're trying to keep from landslide PVP games, so give supers for assists and not kills. Playing the objective gives a bump. Make orbs do more. PVE doubles PVP so try making that the focus instead of the other way around. If I wanted a pure gun skill game I would go back to CSGO.

only problem about the sniper thing is everyone was doing it.
-
You're on to something. Having different PvP modes based on what shaxx thinks you need to improve upon. I like it.

5 RepliesEdited by Gman Plays Games: 7/28/2017 4:33:27 PMActually you have MORE options. 48 possible weapon type combos in D1, 252 in D2.

1 ReplySame here.. I'm canceling D2 pre-order...Bungie just messed up a good thing. Hopefully Anthem will have PVP. If so, I'll just run with that until Bungle un#$@% themselves.
-
13 RepliesThe change was for PvP crybabies. That's the only reason.
-
4 Replies4v4 sucks! Bring 6v6 back or have modes that allow for 6v6.
-
Couldn't have said it better myself. Great post. Hopefully they listen or this game will be dead in 6 months.

34 RepliesI'm with you. The problem here is that so many people for so long since the reveal have been praising the new loadout system, supers, etc. and now we're effectively 5 weeks pre-launch, so whatever changes they made to D2, we're effectively stuck with until they can actually make a common sense change - IF they make a common sense change. I don't see that happening, especially if their sales numbers are moderately good. The earliest this game can get fixed IMO is in 2018 when they come out with their first TTK-like DLC, and that's only if they choose to fix it after seeing how everything plays out over the full year in between now and then. I just don't see Bungie being willing to go backwards on this issue because it is a cornerstone of their PVP design. EVEN IF they fix the loadout systems with separate loadouts for PVP vs PVE, we'd still be stuck with the slow movement and the feeling of being far less agile - because THAT is the other cornerstone of their PVP design. Fast movement speed and mobility doesn't jive with slow kill times from primary weapons. Like it or not, PVP IS hindering the game experience because they're forcing PVP to play like Halo. Unfortunately, this is also forcing PVE to play like Halo, which does not work well in a loot-shooter game.

Who here just scrolled to the bottom and read the "edit" portion? It's not that I don't value your opinion. I only get 10 minute breaks at work. Good luck on finding your happiness, if you change your mind there will be tons of us on D2 waiting for you.

I'll see you at the farm 👍

Edited by KRIMS0NIT3: 7/28/2017 6:31:26 PMMy one gripe is that if snipers are going to become heavy weapons the precision modifier against the minions of darkness needs to be exponentially higher. They feel like scout rifles... Shotguns actually do work if you're smart about it especially as an arcstrider using the reload dodge resets and fusions are -blam!-ing beautiful right now. Sidearms are part of the primary slots now so they're fine. That's my takeaway from the weapons. If your movement skills are ok using mostly primaries won't be too bad.

7 RepliesTurns out games have rules and if you don't play within them you are punished. Don't like it don't play games.

7 RepliesYour not alone! I think separation between the two sandboxes is going to be something Bungie might have to do because so many of the PvE crowd feels alienated.
