Hunters are useless.

Roll is the worst class ability they could have done. Lock and titan got new moves with team support. Hunters get a nerfed shadestep. With 2 useless perks. Roll takes about 2 secs to do but it reloads my gun. The gun that takes 3 secs to reload normally. Melee loop is pointless. It just starts health regen and gives small amount of health. Which is useless since as soon as you get said health and regen it goes away because you take damage because your in freaking melee range. Give us a team reload as the first perk and a true barrier for kills on melee. Rant done.

  • "Hunters are useless". In D2 everything is useless, so what's the point? It's all been "balanced" to be equally useless.

    • Hunter here! I played two games total of PvP during the Beta. Finished on top both times with a 2.71 k/d and 4.2 k/d using both subclasses. My advice for you... adapt or die. After all that is what Hunters do.

        • I've actually had a crazy dps output with 2 handcannons by using the dodgeroll. Sure, Hunter isn't all that useful for a team other than being a good team player, but hopefully that's what the third class (voidstalker) will shine for in Destiny 2. I think the class is pretty fun, and also feel overall that Titan and Hunter really do feel different, titan being heavy and resilient, Hunter being quick and mobile.

          • Follow up to post after many many many hours in beta with all 3 classes. Warlock and titan combo is godly. 2 locks 1 titan is master strike combo. Rally barricade and both rifts=enormous DPS ,BUT the game is so much more shooting stuff now due to longer CDs. Any good player can play any class and do well with the tier list still being titan>Warlock>hunter IMO. hopefully the raids will have good opportunities to clear trash during pivotal points to make acrstrider super viable in the raid content. I'll still end up with 3 hunters most likely......maybe 1 titan master race.

          • I have to say Im really disappointed by hunters so far. I really enjoyed the blade dancer in d1 but the arcstrider just doesn't stand up to it, their attempt to make the super smoother and more fluid just removed the supers impact, the dodge also feels a bit weak, like it doesn't give the sense of urgency that I always felt the shadestep gave. Just something about it made me feel like I was escaping which the new one just doesn't, I think it's something about how far it zooms out. I also don't like that they've made the melee a punch instead of a knife attack.

            I'm annoyed with arcstrider being so weak and needing a buff and also that my beloved blinkstrike knife attack is gone from the acrc subclass and hunters now punch like a titan but when you go GUNslinger you get blinkstrike knife attack and throwing knifes. What part of that is GUNslinging. Ther should be fancy ways of shooting your gun trick shots to give you more super energy or something and the blinkstrike and throwing knifes should be returned to the arc subclass and be buffed to do more damage becaue sorrg if i throw a knife at your head that IS a one hit kill. Nothing less. The new gun system is lame and special heavy and primry should be put back the way they were as well as intelect strength and dicipline. Otherwise i love most of the changes. Gunslinger is a bit weak and i agree it needs buffed but it mostly needs to be more GUN oriented last word flip around reloads hip firing and coolness and leave the knifes and staffs to the arcstrider as an upclose and personal subclass and also bring back the invisibility class ability when you roll/dodge and let the gunslinger keep his insta reload as it suit the class

          • I've played almost 20 hours of Hunter since beta launch and you couldn't be more wrong. Hunters are super slippery and it's amazing we are finally the most agile and quickest class. the shadestep gives you a melee charge back so you are an absolute menace at close range

            • I think bungie did an awesome job of balancing things out, from weapons to abilities. But there is one area I think they majority screwed the pooch. Hunters have an evade as their class ability. Warlocks essentially get the same ability minus the reload in the same amount of time it seems. That's a little messed up.

                    • Melee loop... you're talking about the Melee Kill to recharge Dodge, Dodge near enemy to recharge Melee Ability trick, right? I just started using and it's actually really fun to use in PvE. Not against the tougher foes, obviously, but you can save so much ammo by repeatedly punching guys to death and backflipping into their friends to punch THEM to death.

                      I personally don't like the Dodge, but it makes sense with the Arcstrider at least. I just wish those Dodges' abilities had some sort of a support factor when using around your team mates while enemies are near. Like for example, the Gambler's Dodge; if you use it around your team mates while an enemy is near, you all generate melee charge. Same with the other Dodge. If you use it around your team mates, all your weapons reload.

                      • No - that is definitely not true, the jump mobility could be slightly improved and the G-slingers super could last a little bit longer, that's all in my opinion, but this far far away from being useless. All classes are different now in D2 and that is not a bad thing at all.

                        • I was disappointed with the hunter's class ability. I was hoping that each subclass would have their own unique perks for the class ability, like arcstrider would have invisibility after sidestepping and the other would modify sidestep into a blink. Gunslinger's reload makes sense and I thought that it's other perk would increase accuracy or damage for a short time, but reduced melee cooldown when close to enemies? Wtf. It's like Bungie just ran out of good ideas for sidestep after coming up with great ones for warlocks and titans. Bungie dropped the ball on this one.

                        • Ok the melee loop is useless in PvP but in PvE you can clear a room off adds in no time flat with out using your gun.

                        • At least hunters have an ability to disengage quickly. Poor titans are forced to be slow and get shot to death. Even warlocks have abilities to disengage quickly. They made titans cannon fodder.

                            Maybe the class ability is for some people shit but Hunters have the unfairest jumps for the crucible and since Bungie reduced the aim assistance the hunters can completely outplay other players while they are lowlife in the crucible. I don't hate hunters but they need a short jump cooldown in the crucible game modes. Would Bungie make that I would be ok with invisibility after a roll.
