Rollercoasters. My body locks up and I can't breathe when I'm on one. My brain knows I'll be fine but I can't control my body from doing that. Nearly passed out last time.

Edited by michael: 7/17/2017 6:03:49 PMinteresting. i used to hate them but now i really enjoy them. you just have to tell yourself... -no matter what, they wouldn't let you ride it if there was any risk of physical harm whatsoever -they are designed to scare you so if you get scared its working properly but i know that it isn't that simple to have that mindset, especially when you are going up a track at an angle so severe that there is nothing in your field of view other than sky and the track in front of you and you are about to go down a sheer drop (the leviathan at canada's wonderland).
-
Yeah, I know all of that and I've told myself those exact things when I've got on them. That's the thing about irrational fears: you're still afraid despite trying to rationalize them.

right

I hate theme parks

1. Boring (for me) 2. I hate heights 3. I hate water
-
Fair enough.
-
I worry that I will fall off lol.
-
Hah! I know that I won't and that I'll be completely safe. But it's crazy how little control I have once I get into that seat.
-
Man fears what he cannot control.
-
I'm sure that's part of why I don't like flying as well.
-
Lol. For me it is the possibility of Isis getting onboard lol. But that probably won't happen since I live in West Virginia.

Rollercoasters are really fun

They look like it.

Edited by AverageMetalBassist: 7/15/2017 2:41:53 AMI think the only "roller coaster" that I've been on that I didn't like was the one of the things that's like a giant swing (one of those things that isn't really a roller coaster, but nobody knows what to call them), but it goes upside down... and stays there... then comes back down... and then goes back upside down... stays there some more... falls back down again, and this time it does a full circle and hangs upside down for a few seconds before finishing it's swing. Then it does another full circle.

Edited by CAMMCAM: 7/14/2017 8:00:27 PMHell no. I don't do them at all.
-
Aw, but they're so fun! Except the ones the go upside down fast. Those make my neck lock up.
-
They look fun, I want to have fun on them, but I have an irrational fear. 😕

I used to be like you but once I realized roller coasters are basically just cars without windshields that go over big hills, and a lot safer because there's no chance of a deer or anything to get in your way. Start off gradual, on ones that are smaller and don't go upside down. Wouldn't recommend starting on wooden coasters, though. Those can be really ruff. Basically the equivalent of having a drunk driver that can't crash, but it feels pretty close sometimes.

I can do most other rides, just the roller coasters that make me lock up.

Edited by AverageMetalBassist: 7/15/2017 3:09:12 AMThere's nothing wrong with being the friend that sits of to the side and holds everyone's stuff while they ride if it's that bad. I would recommend finding the smallest, least intense coaster and at least trying it. The drops aren't as bad as they look. The biggest coaster I've been on has a 305 ft. hill at the beginning which is what turns most people away. However, once I rode it, realized the drop was only 5 seconds max. I guess what I'm saying is that the worst part is the false anticipation and suspense created by your brain. And most modern seat restraints on roller coasters use iron bars to hold them in place. They aren't going anywhere.
