Return Nightfalls to Year 1 standards
Nightfalls actually used to be challenging. When your fire team wiped, you'd get returned to orbit and would have to retry. I remember doing my first nightfall and I was sweating like crazy. In this regard, also increase the drop of GOOD gear and get rid of legendary gauntlets, helmets etc. in the loot table. Also give us the blue flame buff after finishing one.

Edit 2: Its funny how people say that only "hardcore" players want Y1 NFs back. If i remember correctly, I am anything but one. Yes, I'm day one, yes I ONCE soloed Valus in Y1 after 2 1/2 hrs. But i only started raiding a month before RoI came out. I also only completed WotM once on normal. Imo Bungo isn't catering to enough to people that play the game for longer periods of time.
Edit 3: A lot of people don't want to return to orbit when they wipe, but much rather restart at the beginning, which is perfectly fine. And it is a lot better!

Not gonna happen because Destiny's player based seems to be getting dumber and dumber. Every single aspect of this game has been dumbed to the floor because everything in it either took too long or was too challenging. The same people are calling for elemental primaries to come back for example. As it makes everything a lot easier. In my world they're known as soft kunts/losers

If they do bring back year 1 NF they should at least reset the timer you have when you have to wipe

If the rewards could reflect the difficulty, then I support more challenging nightfalls. Maybe less RNGd legendaries weapons. You know, instead with preset perks. So we're not disappointed.

Most year 1 nightfalls could be done solo cause of safe spots. You may not go to orbit anymore, but it's a heck lot more difficult to complete on your own. Still, I miss year 1 nightfalls :)

1 ReplyNightfalls were changed for a reason. They wanted people to actually play the nightfall, not sit in a cheese spot, camp back, or have one not do anything to keep the progress. They removed elemental primaries to counter the difficulty.

10 RepliesThey are still challenging. If you want, after your team wipes, return to orbit and start again if you want the 'challenge of Year 1'. Nothing is stopping you.

While I do agree it would be it would be cool to have year 1 style NF's back, it would also be incredibly unforgiving and bs with some of the new strikes (looking at wretched eye) for just the average player being booted to orbit because a stupidly op boss would be very deterring for them. Bungie has made it so that strikes can't be done from a good hiding spot like they use to be (valus) and to have the NF like it once was would just be non-practical from there stand point because of how much hate they would get as a result. Mean lets face it bungie gets so much hate because of crucible anyways.... which is rightly, why add the NF to that as well.

Or you could make your own rules and challenge your self. Here are some condition to make your current nightfall feels y1-ish. 1. All your gears must not be above 385 2. No swords allowed 3. SunBreaker/Stormcaller/Nightstalker are not allowed 4. Do not use 3oC 5. Do not pick up Savala's weekly bounties 6. If your whole team dies, you restart the nightfall 7. You are only allowed to keep strange coins, blue engrams and motes as your final reward, if you receive exotic or legendary it must be dismantle immediately. Yessss?

For those of you arguing that being kicked to orbit after a team wipe was somehow better than it is now, go ahead and just go back to orbit if you wipe, and restart it. No one is stopping you from making it harder on yourself without affecting everyone else and those players who would rather not waste any more time or engage in such a frustrating experience.

1 ReplyI hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the nightfall rewards are pretty much the same, it's just that you already have most the exotics especially if you've been around since year one. They can't reward you exotics that don't exist.

yep ' used to love year 1 nightys when u got high enough u could even do them your self { it took time ] but with being carefull ' fast ' and want it could be done, sptics prime nightfall u would walk out of the double doors and stright into the room on the left. the oger nightfall on the moon[ snipe . gun. rockit fast then back into the back room before the sherkers shot you.. the cabel nightfall [run into the main room fast before the cabel boss with the midigun came through the start entrance doors and run into the top left hand side behind the stacked boxes. .. the venus nighty the priest i used to use the top of the rocks to the left then jump down and repeat [ used to be abel to go under the platform but they patched it.. the earth nightfall the witch omnigogles and the 3 witches that was quite hard on u own but could be done ' rember the dark below dlc droped and the nighty was omnigal it took me seven hours at level 26 to do on my own i did it and got hard light my 1st ' joy' yes i pine for destiny year 1 everything felt better , the raids , the nightfalls, the people ...

13 RepliesThey aren't catering to long term players? Really? 3 of Coins, full infusion, sharing armor to infuse across characters, any number of quality of life improvements, etc. etc... They've actually done a lot for long term players. I've been playing since day one and can see very clearly how much it's changed for the better. The grind is still there but at least the edge has been taken off so it's bearable.

I think they should make it harder than just sending you to orbit on a fire team wipe and beyond just modifiers. I feel like the actual difficulty of it should be raised so it's a real challenge
