Numbers from Destiny tracker.
Destiny has gained 700,000 tracked players since RoI but the Crucible numbers are lower than before SRL. Players tracked before RoI was 7.5 million it is now 8.2 million.
Crucible during non event weeks had 430000 daily players it is now at 400000 consistently and Destiny has more daily players at this time.
Your matchmaking changes that widened the skill gap suck. My friends will not play PvP anymore because they are facing players that are far better than they are.
I only play with friends so we have been playing Battlefield because it has SBMM.
We want to play Crucible but seriously they can't have fun when all that happens is spawn and die over and over.
Edit 1: 10000 less played yesterday than the day before. Numbers are dropping Bungie change it back.
Edit 2: Another new 20000 tracked and a Friday night Trails and Crucible numbers are still down. Bungie make the SBMM changes.
Edit 3: Ok to be fair quite a few people played yesterday with the Saturday Trials crowd.

13 RepliesLet me start off by saying, I'm a casual scrub. I was never a big PVP player in this game, but two Iron banners ago actually got me into it somewhat. After the change, I don't even touch it anymore. Before I was being matched with players close to my level and I was actually learning as I went and having fun. When I died, I knew it was because of a mistake I made in movement or position, or just plain screwed up aim-wise. Now I just get wrecked repeatedly by the same 2-3 players on the opposing team with no clue as to wtf just happened half the time, sometimes a few seconds after spawning as Jcald mentioned. I didn't even mind a few shitty connection matches here and there, I was still having fun before the change. (You know, that thing that games are supposed to provide in the long run) Seems the biggest complainers about SBMM were just a bunch of elitist pvpers who wanted matches full of easy scrub casual targets like myself to pad their K/D stats. From what I've seen on the forums, the argument for "no more sweaty matches" (that term made me smh so much) seemed to trump the connection issue tenfold. Also not complaining here. I'm perfectly happy playing the game in strictly PVE modes like I was before. Just would have been nice to clear out some of the 13 pvp quests I have clogging my journal and it was nice for a month or so to have fun in another mode the game offered. Also just offering a concrete reason why maybe newer and more casual players aren't hopping into crucible as readily anymore and possibly playing other games entirely. In fact, when I get an urge to pvp I fire up Titanfall 2 instead and have a blast. The vocal community did this to themselves. Don't blame Bungie. Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for.

Cry harder that your favorite game is dying.

15 RepliesMmmmmm those numbers don't seem to be accurate when concerning active players.
-
2 RepliesPlayers, are leaving this game left and right, it is at the end of its life span, thank god this joke of a game is dying 👍🏻

2 RepliesI have a hard believing those statistics. I hardly see any of my friends on my list playing anymore and my clan members have all gone inactive. After all the great holiday releases I don't understand why anyone is still playing this game anymore. When Mass effect Andromeda releases I doubt I'll even touch destiny again until destiny 2 comes out.

17 RepliesLol battlefield has zero sbmm. You pick a server and you randomly get players of varying skill
-
Get good. And that's coming from a filthy casual like me.
-
It's because of how shitty primaries are. People are tired of it.

11 RepliesIdk against what Monsters your friends play that they get crushed and stop playing Crucible. But a couple of my best friends left Destiny pvp before an year because of Sbmm. They couldn't play or didn't want to play with me because we got put in higher bracket all the time. And even if they played solo the connection they got turned them just off from the game. I would say the issue with MM is that only dedicated players are around what means mostly that you will face players who are good. Because let's be honest here for a second, if a new player jumps into pvp right now He will turn it of after a couple games. Due too unbalanced Weapons and because He won't know the meta he doesn't know what guns to use and can't even have the weapons he need to compete against dedicated Destiny players. But i personaly am sick to hear more more about that frase Sbmm in Destiny. Because you can't force a strong Sbmm in a game without balance and without constantly goid connections. You mentioned Battlefield 1, they have Dedicated Servers and make Mp games only or mainly. That game is different then Destiny in every possible way. This discussion is reaching a point were it's just sad to see that ppl don't even really care what they are asking for.

Last time I was on Destinylfg.net there was only 900... it's 1400 only just now. I remember when there was like 80000+ I'm glad that all those folks are still asking for ridiculous requirements. Help kill the LFG too.

What's important for matchmaking is peak population. You don't need to know who many players have Destiny accounts, are tracked by DTR, or log in on a daily basis. What you need to know is how many players are in your playlist at any given time. Bungie is keeping that information from us, but we do know it's not enough players to support decent matchmaking. It will only get worse. As players stop playing Crucible, the population goes down. As it goes down, more players stop playing Crucible. It's a downward spiral. It's also why I haven't played much Crucible for the past couple of months.
-
The numbers are a lie. So many people have multiple accounts to keep sbmm off their ass.

Did you just compare a game that uses dedicated servers with a game that is stuck in the year 2000 and is still using p2p? p2p needs CBMM since otherwise every match would be laggy. Dedicated servers can use SBMM since lag won't harm anyone else than the lagger.

2 RepliesBF1 does not have SBMM. Where they hell do you people get your info from?

id far rather get killed and out played by a better guardian than die to the myriad of bs lag issues that have plagued the game for 2+ years. Sadly, the changes that have been made don't seem to have effected much at all.. my kd is .9 I think.. so its not great.. although its from day one and I have gotten significantly better. I would say my avg is lately likely around 1.1 or better.. that said, I see no change in skill, no change in time to find a team, no change in the red bars and lag.. literally no change at all.. this is due to math and how matchmaking works and the p2p network we use. for ease of the math, we will make things simple.. variations will def change the numbers slightly but, my point remains the same. 400k pvp players in one day, divide by 2 for the platforms. 200k players in 24 hour period from around the globe = 8300 players an hour divide that by the number of game modes available, control, salvage, clash, supremacy, rift, skirmish, doubles, and several others.. i'm sure we can simply divide by 4 and you get the point.. 2000 players is the pool you are looking at give or take at any one time.. then add in the skill and connection variables and your pool is significantly reduced. at this point there just ins't much bungie can do with the pvp side of things with so few players and a network that just doesn't support small player pools in the matchmaking they want to run.

42 RepliesEdited by Arcstrider: 1/6/2017 2:18:35 PMYou act like they removed SBMM. They didn't! Yes connection is more important than it used to be, but how the -blam!- can you complain about that ?! Do you want to face Juan from Puerto Rico every game ? Did you enjoy the insane lag ? I mean there is still a lot of lag, but it's way better now. This game is 3 years old and the playerbase is still huge. You should be happy about that. Im glad they changed the MM. I just wish they would fix the lobbies with 8 players that get spilt into 5 vs 3 -_- Stop complaining about good changes!

You mean you like playing with them in low skilled lobby's. now you don't due to a wider range of MM it puts people closer to your skill in that lobby. Stop using your friends for easy matches.

4 RepliesThe stats you are looking at are flawed. The figure you're looking at are total number of unique console accounts since August of 2015. That includes people who bought it for ps3 and 360, then upgraded and bought it again for ps4 and xbone, thousands of people are being counted 4 times, also includes everyone who just rented the game for the weekend from gamefly and returned it. That is the total number of people who have played the game since 2015 which is a frankly useless stat. The other fact you need to know is that the total number of players are not PVE plus PVP which is the illusion they want you to take from it. On average, 80 to 90% of pvp players also play pve, depending on what day. So the overwhelming majority of that low pvp total is included in that high pve total. They can pretend what they like. Less than 1 million people now play this game regularly. Probably less than 900k. The reality is they screwed them selves in trying to screw their players. FOTL was the last straw for a lot of players. It was a slap to the face, not a special event. Then people waited for The Dawning to see if their objections would be addressed. They weren't. Not meaningfully anyway. So instead of coming on the forums to scream again. They just turned around. And walked away. You'll see a few weeks of decent turnout cause people got this game for christmas.... Then little by little, it will be reduced to the lowest common denominator. People who login on the weekends for trials, and the people who literally will not quit this game no matter what, people who will still be grinding this game for hours on end even after destiny 2 comes out. You'll probably see some people come back for this weapons rebalance they are implying is going to happen. Then they'll wander off again. And that will be the end of that. Game had a good run. But it's dying. The people who are desperate to believe it's still going strong are delusional.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE
-
12 RepliesThis is what people wanted, blame the community and blame bungie for listening to the wrong part of the community.

1 ReplyAccording to Wikipedia. Over 200,000,000 people have played CoD. Doesn't mean that's the daily average. Saying Destiny has this many daily players is unproven even by tracker since there's no actual online player numbers for each playlist. Population also affects how fast people find a lobby. Waiting and waiting means a very low daily average. This can be seen on other fps as you can see the number of players currently online or in each individual playlist.
