Please bump if you agree with what is said below. This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed.
-------------------------------------------------
One of the biggest problems with Destiny from day 1 has been the lack of story and in game lore, and that's still the case. So why is Bungie focusing so much on all of the PvP feedback and not really doing much in PvE. Yeah, they're fixed some PvE problems, and that's great, but this game has become much too focused on PvP.
Destiny was not meant to be a mainly PvP game, and sadly that's what's happened. If we truly want Destiny 2 to be an improvement, the focus must be on PvE. The original idea of Destiny, the one that built massive hype and won over E3 when it debuted was a game full of exploring, fighting mysterious enemies of the darkness and saving humanity, not an idea of a broken sandbox full of sweaties taking money from less skilled players just to win some PvP matches to get rare gear. That's not what this game was meant to be, nor what it should be.
The potential is still there. Destiny could be a game changer, a standard of excellence that other developers would strive to achieve. It could be great. But none of it happens unless attention is taken away from PvP, not completely, but taken away and put towards a great story, mind blowing lore, and an amazing PvE experience that's worth coming back to again and again.
Side note: If PvE and PvP tuning was done separately, I believe PvE players would feel less neglected.
EDIT: Thank you for all of the support, this is amazing. I hope it's enough to get recognized by Bungie so they realize what the community really wants.

I have never played an FPS like Destiny. Destiny gives you a REASON to run around shooting things for hours on end, even when it comes to the Crucible. Crucible play isn't just about playing competitively against other Guardians, it's about creating some kind of name for yourself in terms of pure combat skill and individual or team-based glory. And PvE is the core place where your character creates their legend. Whether I'm playing PvE or dipping my toes into PvP, I honestly feel like Destiny is an immersive experience. Not only is the narrative detailed and full of charismatic, unique characters with strong personalities, voices and well crafted backstories, but you as the player are given tons of leeway to roleplay as much as you want to or don't want to. I can't say that I can really find anything wrong with the experience up to this point, however I totally 100% agree that Destiny 2 could take the game's worldbuilding to a whole new level, in terms of how both PvP and PvE gameplay relate. I don't want PvP to suffer, and I don't want PvE to suffer because I enjoy them both. Hopefully the developers will continue to take the game in this progressive new path for first person shooter gameplay and game narrative, because lord knows the genre needs it.

Destiny 2 needs quality period. Crucible is a joke. PvE gets monotonous. Trials is full of cheating ass scrubs. The game has more bugs than a Raid commercial.

1 Replyplease delete you're post. Bungie see's this and response its getting. They will push destiny 2 back another 2-3 years to try a little bit harder.. By little bit I mean 0.0004% harder.. But it will be another 2-3 year wait.

7 RepliesJust make the game a true MMO, that's the fix honestly. PVE and PVP both have a place in Destiny and PVP isn't going anywhere. For PVP they need to make it 60 FPS like other quality shooters, dedicated servers, but they also need to expand on matchmaking and trials. They need to do something like have PVP zones, or whole areas you zone into and it's like battlegrounds, a free for all for territory or supplies, or tie it to loot of some kind. These can just be moons or astroids, or instanced outskirts of towns, etc. Teams can just be whatever faction you represent (Dead Orbit, Future War Cult). PVE was ruined when the game started catering to and was made easier for solo players. Sorry but it's true. Once you make a game built so much on social interaction, allow fire teams, and introduce raids, there has to be a point in doing the raids. The best gear, and the highest light level gear needs to ONLY come from end game content.

5 RepliesEdited by SpakulatorX: 12/25/2016 12:09:29 AM3 years later people still play destiny, for all aspects of the game. I think bungie got something right. What is really sad is people who only play pvp or pve content, when they could be playing all the content and get more out of it.

Not directing this at you OP but people can't ask for "a good story" cause that's still pretty vague. There are so many elements that can make a story "good". Same goes for "quality". It's not something you simply make or pop into a game. It takes some serious mental power.

I see the problem as not being able to totally exclude one. If there is gear exclusive to PvP, then it should only be used in PvP, and the same with PvE gear. This attitude of Bungie's that you must play PvP to get a particular piece or pieces of gear to use in PvE is just plain bullshit! It's very hard, maybe impossible, to get to 400 without playing PvP. I could not ( and I tried ) but I had to play PvP - which I hate with a passion - to get to 400. Iron Banner took me from 396 to 400 in one, one week session, of about 4 hours a day! And with dismal scores! Similar performance in PvE would not get me through the strike. Where can you do that in PvE? PvE and PvP must be entirely separate. They can have the same or different gear, I don't care, but each set must be exclusive to either PvP or PvE. Yeah, I know, this more or less means 6 characters. But not if the gear for both modes were the same. Then all that would mean is two sets of perks for each item, assuming you have one for each. I only now a little about programming games, but for sure gear is only a set of subroutines with different arrays for each. The ideal, as far as I am concerned, is two games. A PvP version and a PvE version, separately bought, separately priced, and separately played. And to all the PvP people who cry, "It won't live without our beloved PvP, " well, there are a jillion games out there that have no PvP, and they still sell. Also, if PvP is so important, you won't mind just paying for it alone, surely?

PvP nerfing yo guns and removing your favourite perks since 2014.
what? You use said items in pve? Go -blam!- yourself ~Bungie
-
I enjoy pve they did a good job overall.
-
Yeah pve needs to be on a larger scale. Bigger maps, more enemy add designs, new enemy factions, more story and more missions. The expansions need to be larger too, this game is too good for the little amount of content that gets added. Hopefully 2 stops with all the recycled crap, especially strikes, i wouldnt mind if strikes got recycled if we got new strikes with it too.

Edited by Big_Al_TX: 12/25/2016 3:23:58 AMI agree. Destiny, in its initial presentation at E3, and during about the 1st half of Y1, was a PvE focused game. Nobody can really disagree with that. While the Crucible was entertaining, it was a sideshow attraction to raids, nightfalls, and even normal/heroic strikes. Then, ever so slowly, PvP began to take over. It started with increased Crucible rewards. Hooray! Literally nobody was upset about that. Then Trials came out. Alright, fine, maybe raids are played less, but Destiny needed a PvP endgame. Then you could get max light level items from Crucible. Mostly positive feedback, but some argued that this made PvE endgame irrelevant. Then you come to all throughout TTK and ROI, where it feels like every balance patch, update, and live event is PvP focused and PvE is feeling really ignored. Think about it. PvP gets Iron Banner, Trials, Crimson Days, and SRL as limited time events, while PvE had that Queen's Wrath event ONCE. (But seriously, you really have to wonder what they were thinking with that one.) I know QR doesn't make much sense anymore as the Queen is dead (maybe?) but really, we need something. TLDR: PvE content needs some more love.

I'd agree, but I honestly don't play shooters for story. I play them to shoot cool enemies and go through a campaign of cool encounters. Yes Destiny lacks a strong story (or any for that matter, lol) but I find the game's PvE to be fine. They created cool bosses after the Dark Below, and have such a huge selection of guns to choose from. Not saying they shouldn't take a new approach on the story, because giving the enemies much more lore and background would be cool, but in my opinion, they need to stop "SIVA-fying" stuff and "taking" stuff, just make new bosses. That's where I feel like the game lacks. It has too much copy and paste then reskin.

i have a love/hate relationship with destiny, i love the game so much, i hate so many things about it, but in the end no complaints cause im still playin it

If this is a 10 year game, D2 is their only chance for redemption. Other great games will come out and Destiny will get left behind.

5 RepliesRaid. Hello?

1 ReplyBump Ps we want more 5 or 7 story quests line. Something around 20, so game can last longer.
-
Can we please get away for the stand on a plate while holding your dick mechanics of boss fights. What happened to the turn and burn bosses of old days?

Edited by A KOOL POP TART: 12/25/2016 1:37:27 AMIt needs more than content. It needs a damn good story with characters and experiences that will make you, the player, give a shit about the world your playing in. You can cram all the raids, strikes, patrols, and other stupid gimmicks you want into the next game, but it won't make people care any more than they already do.

1 ReplyDefinitely feel this time the game truly should be open world as well, that's what it was suppose to be. No limits, and so much to explore and find. And 100 percent agree a better told story would help this game out a lot. Mini bosses throughout the game would go well especially for say, public events. It should be something players have to team up to take down to defeat and not just for a couple motes. Other rewards like say a unusual ornament or a special color you'd normally not see. Also regular vehicles should be able to be found in certain areas. Just some thoughts.

The balance between pve and pvp content has been great, and if you think about it pve gets a lot more than pvp as it is anyway, I think you might be thinking about updates and not content because 2 or 3 maps vs all that pve gets is nothing in comparison. This game needs its pvp just as much as it pve.
-
I think they should focus on PvE but PvP should get some love too. It doesn't need to be CoD but a balanced PvP doesn't hurt
-
Doubt it would happen Creating content takes more resources than just fine tuning something. The pvp attention is them just fine tuning stuff, rather than creating stuff. This rate is pretty much what im expecting of them in destiny 2
