SO MANY RACIST PEOPLE ON DESTINY
Im a spanish player i love destiny
Of course like a latino i have an accent
i won't deny my culture
But theres times i meet people who are so racist because of my accent.
Mostlikely american people..
Specially the young people.
Most of the time i end up leaving their fireteams or kicking them.
These type of people ruin videogames.
Is really inmature and dumb i believe some other people may be on my situation.

You are correct! We all know where the racism comes from. The sad thing is that it isn't even taught because they are born with it. Their hate is so deep, it gets passed on from generation to generation like an illness or a curse. I hope someday you find worthy teammates to feel comfortable with. I actually posted about a mistranslation of one of Shaxx's commentaries in the Crucible, and the amount of racist comments I got from the Community was mind blowing. Crap about how we should all just learn English to make things easier for all. I'm from the Houston, Texas area and have a Texas twang sound in some words I say but don't have that thick southern accent and occasionally I'll get comments from lfg people but I don't let it bother me and I have fun with it. Everyone has made bigoted comments(or thoughts) in their life and if they say they haven't they are lying to you and themselves! Words are words bro and the old adage applies today "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me"! A lot of people on this chat board will go the troll route and do their best to flame and make comments to further upset you. I'm not sure how old you are OP but you have to learn to let it go and sometimes have fun with it. If you have fun with it and show people who make fun of your accent it will stop them in their tracks. Example: Being I'm from Texas I say Y'all and other Texas slang but when a new group I play with hears my accent and they say I must be a redneck I simply reply that yep, I'm a redneck from Texas, ride a horse to work or school and play along. It doesn't bother me if people make fun of me, I know who I am. I'm a husband to a beautiful(sometimes a pain in my ass) wife with 3 beautiful kids( who also can be a pin in my ass) and my job is to take care of them! In the end you are judged by who you are and what you stand for, not by people in a video game who think it's fun to try and tear down people to make their lives feel better. If you choose to read what I wrote and take it to heart ok, if not that's ok also. If you can learn to dish it back at them and have some thick skin you will be fine.

It's sad that this is the world we live in. It's just there are lots of racist people in the world, period. A mic, anonymity, and few hundred mile buffer zone give them the courage to say things out loud they would never say to someone's face. It's pretty pathetic. No worries though. They will eventually realize they are scumbags with no purpose in life and probably eat a bullet.

5 Replies"Racism" is a trigger word used by people like yourself to try and reason your otherwise insignificant lives. Like "homophobic" or "Islamophobia". That word (like others) is used to bring attention, draw a crowd, rally those of an equally lesser mind to a cause. However, it's just a word, no meaning behind it anymore. It's much easier to blame things on words than it is to conclude that maybe, just maybe....people don't like you.

I have a "Southern" accent that folks love to comment on and try to imitate mockingly. Should I cry racism or be offended? Of course not.....relax everyone, ya'll be ok.

Video games aren't for the sensitive man. I know this day and age Americans are much more sensitive towards the whole race issue but video games and chat have always been like this as far back as I can remember. Just laugh it off and move on to a more mature group of people
